I remember watching this with my parents all the time. This theme song will forever be stuck in my head. I wish quality tv shows like this still existed.
Grey’s Anatomy needs two more seasons to surpass ER as the longest medical drama in TV history. Season 15 of Grey’s is this season, and next season would be the record breaking sixteenth
I worked as an EMT and in an ER for many years. I can still remember the first time I successfully used a defibrillator. And that's exactly how I felt.
shaquille peterson I cannot stand Grey’s Anatomy, for the show is a chick show in disguise of a medical show. Even the title and the opening sequence say it too.
ER is one of the best shows ever made. Michael Crichton was an actually a licensed MD and never went into practice as a doctor. This is why he was able to produce the show and make it as realistic as it is in real life. Because, of this show, I am planning to go into the medical field as an ER Nurse.
In the final couple of years, they stopped using the theme song. It was a very unpopular decision with the fans. Thank God they brought it back for the finale. It's great in the very last scene too!
Grew up with parents in medicine (mom a Nurse dad a Paramedic) so this show was always a must watch growing up. I’m now a Nurses Aide in an ER. It’s wild. But this theme is always in my head during my shift.
Also the shot of Benton doing his celebration thing. I think that was from the 2nd episode. When he took a chance at surgery and saved the dude's life.
And the shot of Greene shown in reflection walking through the emergency entrance. The final shot of the doctor looking backwards might also have been part of the original opening sequence (or at least, an extended original opening sequence).
Was picking up a fabric to make a face mask (😣) and it is american emergency green, so.. ER directly popped in mind and here I am watching different opening credits from the show, the real ones, not the short Grey's Anatomy equivalent one. I loved that they had finally brought the real opening credits and the newest actors had finally had their opening credits shots (yay!), it was so great, and sad too. I miss the show...
when they were doing the opening scenes of the show i said outloud "you know wat would be an awesome thing to do for the final episode if they had the whole theme song instead of the 2 second one" and poof there it was i was so happy
He was such a great man. Doctor, surgeon, writer, what an intelligent man. Everything from ER to Congo, to Jurassic Park, he knew how to make his mark and leave a long lasting impression on society. Incredible person. I would’ve loved to have met him personally.
To me, in my opinion, the drama on television EVER. House is #2. It's great how they added an icon to the last season, Angela Bassett. I never missed an episode.
This show lasted from 1994 until 2009, and this was 2009. There were huge cast changes over time, but the format held up. It was a smash hit for a very long time. NBC might have held onto this show for too long. By the end, it had run its course. What else was there to do or say in an ER? The show became a format and a formula instead of a story.
Season 11 saw the beginning of the program's precipitous ratings decline, dropping from 8th to 16th place, then 30th the next year, and 40th the year after that. By season 14, viewership had dropped to a third of what it was in the show's heyday.
Much like "LOST", they brought back many familiar faces and gave main cast billing, a truly classy move. I just wish, like LOST did, they'd done the same for some of the long-time recurring players like Abe Benrubi, Yvette Freeman, Troy Evans, etc.
This theme song still gives me chills. Love it. I miss the original ER shows. That was one show I DID NOT miss. My son's ballgames were always on Thursday nights, so I would always tape it. YIKES! One Thursday I forgot to set the VCR. This was back before we had cell phones, so I went to different school faculty members till I could get one to let me use the phone to call my parents to tape it for me. LOL. Great show!!
He was more memorable being second to last rather than being stuck in the middle. They likely would have put him last, in the "and" spot that he held during his run on the show, but that spot was likely contractually Angela Bassett's.
Hospitals are just way too systematic these days. (Though they've always kinda been that way to begin with, if you really think about it, especially in the 1960's-1970's)
I remember watching this with my parents all the time. This theme song will forever be stuck in my head. I wish quality tv shows like this still existed.
Tyler Marrero Same. I saw it since 2000 when I was 5 years old. I will nevvaa forget that intro.
ER > Grey's anatomy
+Alex McTyre No. Chicago Med is the newer version that took over after ER. Grey's Anatomy is more in Seattle.
Sadly, there is no one show that can claim to be “ER’s” heir. Both “Chicago Med” and “Code Black” come close, though...
Greys anatomy is garbage
@@kristeny334 My thoughts exactly. They to busy fucking each than being a Dr
Grey’s Anatomy needs two more seasons to surpass ER as the longest medical drama in TV history. Season 15 of Grey’s is this season, and next season would be the record breaking sixteenth
Benton’s dance move of victory in the hallway will forever bring a smile to my face. I think it’s from season 1
The "Benton Punch". Yes it was from Season 1.
The very first episode
I worked as an EMT and in an ER for many years. I can still remember the first time I successfully used a defibrillator. And that's exactly how I felt.
Wish this show was still going on. This was way better than Grey's Anatomy. Anyone else agrees with me?
I was just saying the same thing to my friends.
shaquille peterson I cannot stand Grey’s Anatomy, for the show is a chick show in disguise of a medical show. Even the title and the opening sequence say it too.
Ja Ik ben het met je eens ....
Absolutely, I also like House and Chicago Med too.
@@josephbae8804 I know I can't stand it. Everyone is fucking everyone

+Larry Lee Moniz Did they say why they stopped using the longer theme for the final two seasons?
@@hcs4life21 my guess it saved up a little bit of money & it give the show a little more in terms of dialogue
+Matt Hartley Jr Of course. Everything always boils down to money.
The new theme song was terrible. In fact it was more like a riff or sound effect than a proper theme.
It was such a stupid move to update the theme song
The 'hippest' theme music from great 90s television show!
Grew up with parents in medicine (mom a Nurse dad a Paramedic) so this show was always a must watch growing up.
I’m now a Nurses Aide in an ER. It’s wild. But this theme is always in my head during my shift.
I love how they used the shot of Carter with the stethoscope on his forehead throughout the course of the show. It was from the pilot episode!
purpleshamrock17 great shot from a great scene
Also the shot of Benton doing his celebration thing. I think that was from the 2nd episode. When he took a chance at surgery and saved the dude's life.
Actually the Benton celebration shot was from ep 1 too

Legendary ER...I.MISS IT
Glad the er theme returns in the last episode
Thank Michael Crichton for this.
Indeed a shame he couldn't be there at the end

Wow
I loved this theme, the other one was so blah!! This theme takes me back to the 90's.
To me, in my opinion, the drama on television EVER. House is #2. It's great how they added an icon to the last season, Angela Bassett. I never missed an episode.
glad to see i'm not the only one that like the opening theme song
my second favorite behind nypd blue. route 66 is a close third.
I hear this theme in my head, each time they bring me a patient for a full-body trauma CT.

Thursday night was never the same again
My favourite bit is still the Eric La Salle celebratory punch
I love that fade in music at the start
season 1-5 will always be the best
Dylan Minihan 6-8 are the best imho. Mark Greene’s death makes me weep every time.
All seasons are streaming on Hulu
This show/song is the reason I went into the health field
Haha... one theme song I will NEVER forget. They never should have stopped the show.
I’m so glad they fixed it after season 13.
Er is back praise the lord
I miss this show so badly! I love Grey's Anatomy, but nothing compared to this show, bring back ER!!
ER was the best medical show!! House, Grey's Anatomy and all those other medical shows have nothing on ER!!
Why isn’t this show on Blu-ray already? It’s 20 years old already!
It is 25 now & it's all on Hulu
Happy birthday scott from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er
Glad they brought the theme back for the fans. Similar to how Seinfeld did a new stand up opening even though they had faded from the show by then
Hard to believe that the show is now 25 years old now
Happy birthday linda from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er

I want a time machine
This NBC drama is considered the late night version of the ABC soap opera "General Hospital".
Who else used to do the thing with the hand, whenever the intro was on? :)
Tiza123m Benton's "Yeeees"
Happy birthday laura from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er
I wished if I could practice medicine outside ..this was one of my great disappointments for sorrow ...I was rooted in the very wrong place
God I miss this show...
Perfektný serial niet pochýb. Tu vidno naozaj boj o ludský život
I DID NOT KNOW that Angela Bassett was on ER!!
The BEST

Vous aimez la série urgence demander à la revoir sur télé où vous pouvez l'acheter en DVD
ER > New Amsterdam > House > Grey’s Anatomy > Doogie Houser MD
they should have put eriq la salle with the rest of the original cast members and then followed it up with the newer cast members.

もはやERを超える医療ドラマは出て来ないだろうな。
And all because of _The Jay Leno Show_
*Really, NBC?*
yea it was really good!!!!!!!!
