I can remember city road 50 years ago when it had lots of car showrooms, a few good pubs and not many takeaways/restaurants, it sure has changed a lot.
@@dilbertfishI lived there 15-20 years ago. Let's not kid ourselves that it wasn't a bit dodgy back then (syringes in the alleys and knob heads looking for a scrap after dark). It has definitely deteriorated in the last 10 years though, especially at the Albany Road end. The worst thing now is the standard of driving/parking, as well as the economic decline and closure of what used to be some decent businesses. A wider problem than just City Road...
I’m from Bristol but deliver in Cardiff including city road it’s lovely there people are friendly and just start talking to you randomly as I English guy I love wales it really is a friendly place Bristol is not friendly unfortunately 😊
That is not Cardiff, mainly people from other parts of the world walking around. Many from countries where it’s normal for rubbish to be thrown all over the place. The only two natives at the beginning and they were down and outs because the benefits system is too good and allows people to be like it
Great video premise, great interactions with the people, great personalities all around, whilst being recorded by the legend Dale?! That’s the type of content I enjoy!
A lot of crime? Yes, but the worst of it is not seen, like human trafficking and drug gangs. City Road is pretty tame compared to Broadway at night. You have been warned.
@@dilbertfishYeah, Clifton Street has gone to the dogs. City Road was always somewhere that you had to have your wits about you after dark, but I don't feel safe on Clifton even in the afternoon. Maybe I'm just getting old 😂
@granitesevan6243 no,you are not getting old,I'm from splott and I've seen it go from nice and quiet to a totally shit fest,my mate was killed a few years back and my other mates worse stab proof vests out in the street no shitt
I give that homeless guy at the start a spliff and a few quid when I see him after work some days ,tidy guy but fuckk some of the homeless in Cardiff are aggressive damn
Haha lol not at all,I'm from splott, literally I grew up on city road, worked all along city road,it has become a complete cesspool full of foreigners on benefits sat in hair salons cutting their friends hair all day doing drugs, robbing each other and partying all the time 24 7,crops growing in nearly ever building along city road
In the 70s I had a girlfriend who lived off broadway ( Richard’s terr ) it was nice in them days but now it’s a dump also I lived off city road in the 80s in Russell street, it’s gone downhill since then 😢
very surprised I didn't see my self in this video as someone that is always down city road and Albany road lol used to work/run a computer shop down city road aswell, i can say daytime is not that bad but knight time you get some odd people and also a lot of people used to like to drive fast and also drift there cars at knight down city and Albany road. also lucky you didn't go in to that room and knock the door 😂🤣 don't think they would have liked some dude with a camera going into that place lol
Nice to see the fun multi-cultural parts of City road, you can buy lots of cool stuff/produce from various grocers, and fresh baked goods/sweets/treats from all across the world, and it's all wonderful. Too much hate the in the world. Expand your mind.
Ambassodor used to be £65 for 45 mins, city rd used to be mostly car and motorcyle showrooms and it had the first kfc in cardiff in the 80's it wasnt as bad even the cinema was open, the building you pointed out for homeless, sad
Asolute shit hole of a place, cardiff council should be ashamed with the way this street has declined over the years.Back in the 60's & 70's this street was quite a high end street with lots of smart shops & showrooms.
Don’t know about the people saying about crime it’s very safe compare it to Brazil or something lol, of course it’s all been deindustrialised and it’s a centralised economy so most the money comes and goes to London so it ain’t gonna be great, but still pretty good imo. Cardiff is definitely a little dirty though.
Between the government the councils and immigrants who are buying up the houses or flats kicking people out making them homeless is the problem, if you have a possession orders against you, the councils don’t help till your actual homeless. The waiting list is crazy a native and a citizen are classed the same. But we’re not treated the same as who’s working where now? We have immigrants working in parliament and the councils. There’s the problem the English have now
Let's be totally honest here, people like myself,my family grand parents, their grand parents,we built city road and we have all moved out over the years due to the amount of foreigners having moved in and taken overthe place, crime rising very fast, crimes like assault, stabbings, harassment and even murder have pushed us all out of the area,90 odd percent is now foreign,it's the same in riverside,Grangetown, cathays, they all used to be lovely area but sadly the growing foreign population has totally ended that,it has been happening for the last 30 or 40 years,it's the same in most areas of the uk,foreigners doing crime has pushed us all out, can't complain my life is far better now than what it was when I was living there,I would never go back too, sorry but it's literally the worse place to live in the uk and the whole of Europe I would say having travelled and migrated abroad and seen a lot of Europe and the world, avoid city road and splott and cathays,Grangetown, riverside and the bay, avoid cardiff in general
What a place😂😂 some characters met that day!
💯 not all bad ! Lol 😂
I've seen gangs of black men sword fighting each other on city road, come back in the night
I've seen all sorts that this video clip is totally missing

@user-rr6kz8vu3i Only twenty years ago it was decent, unfortunately many good people moved away.

I meant Clifton Street, but close enough.
@dilbertfish I was glad when I lost out on a property in one of the streets near Clifton Street at I would have hated it there!

I live not far from this area and I shop regularly.
I have not seen any issues, Day, Evening and Night.

At one point it wasn't a bad street but nowadays it's gone to rack and ruin!
My favourite road in Cardiff ngl
Should cover the hotels in Cardiff
Born in Cardiff and I can tell you it is very rough. Daytime you’re fairly safe but nighttime no.
What the fuck are you on about 😂😂

1 time city Rd
Was full of car showrooms not 1 there now it was shark city as it was known but times are different now as we know
Although i appreciate what you are doing i didnt like the loaded question to the homeless guy about money and asylum seekers.
City rd is not safe for women to walk down..
Racist lie
I believe that. There's no way I'd let my missus walk home up there after dark
Saying he use to drink in the pub then acting like he never been to city road in his life 😂
When i were young i went with my grandparents there
60% of Cardiff is a shit hole 😢 Cardiff Council should be ashamed of itself, and your video has done nothing to attract visitors to Cardiff mate 😢😢
Rubbish. 60% of Cardiff is decent. I would say about 20% is dodgy, just like any other city
Acting like you dont know whats inside the Ambassador 😂
I dont mate

where are the indigenous people, the guy with the swagger who try to get you into his shop looked well dodgy you did the right thing not going in.
Majority Muslim/Asian community who incidentally own most of the businesses.
