You don't need to do ctrl+c / ctrl+v with the checkboxes. You can just drag the little box in the corner of the frame surrounding the checkbox.

So I’m trying to make it change only when there’s new info checked and color it differently time stamp but everything I have tried to do changes the date even when there’s no new total check boxes

I've had a lot of people that ask that! I don't know of a built in way to do it...

How do I make a cell at the bottom say “ completed” or “unfinished” if I’m done with the list?
Thank you so much for showing this. I have been waiting on Google from this for a long time. Is it possible to add one more step. When you click on the checkbox, it will strikethrough the task and also place today's date or the date when it was checked?
You could to =IF(B5=TRUE,TODAY(),"") to give it today's date. Keep in mind though that the TODAY value updates every day. If you want the day to be more of a timestamp that doesn't move, you'd have to write a script for that.
for strike through you need to use conditional formatting
e.g. in column A contains list, column B contains check boxes and column C you would like to use for time stamp
select column A:A, right-click and select conditional formatting in the menu, then find criteria where you insert formula, use the following formula =B1=TRUE, and choose line through formatting for condition
for time stamp you can use the following script

var sh = ss.getActiveSheet();
var row = sh.getActiveRange().getRow(), column = sh.getActiveRange().getColumn();

var checkMark = checkBox.getValue();
switch (checkMark) {

That is pretty much it, hope I did not misspell anything. Copy/paste the script to script editor and save.
What it should do, is to fire the script only when interacted with column B and only if cell in column A is not empty.
It should place the timestamp on the same row in column C when if check mark is placed and remove timestamp if check mark is removed.
If does not work or need to rearrange, let me know, will be glad to help

This is a WONDERFUL video, thanks for sharing! Do you know if its possible to uncheck all checkboxes at once? Say we have a fair long checklist, how can I NOT go about clicking on each and every box to "reset" their initial state?
I found a pretty easy way to do this: Go into 'Tools > Script Editor' and then paste the following code:
function clearCheckbox() {
SpreadsheetApp.getActive().getRange('B:B').uncheck();
}
You change the "getrange" value accordingly to whatever range your checkboxes are.
You can later create a button inside your sheet to activate the script.
1. Go into 'Insert > Drawing' and create any wanted shape
2. Add the shape to the sheet
3. Gover your mouse over the shape
4. Click on the three dots and then select 'Assign Script', a box will appear
5. Type the name of script, in this case is: clearCheckbox
6. Hit 'OK' and it's all set. Now you can simply click a button and every checkbox will reset

is it possibly that once the box is checked that the list will rearrange so that all the boxes checked 'true' would move to the bottom, and all the unckecked boxes stay at the top of the list? kind of like in apple notes when you check a checkbox? TIA
Not that I know of. You could sort it with the menu options if you wanted to do it yourself. Just pick the column with the check marks as your sort column.

Is there a way to add a percentage of the completed tasks?
Like for example if I need a daily checklist and need to make sure at least 90% is done, is there a way to keep track of the percent of what I have done compared to what I need to do?
I supposed you could just type it into a cell and format it as a percent. If you're looking for a slider, try something like Coda.

Great video. Is there a way to only allow the check box below a task to be checked unless the one above it is checked first? So you have to complete task 1 before task 2, etc.?

Change the value in the Apply to range input box to the range that you want to highlight. Maybe C5: E100.
