You two have such a good time together. Cherish that. God bless.
Hi Pam, I think that another way to go would be to coat the bread stick on bought sides then roll them in parmesan or Romano cheese. What a great way for dipping in your soup or marinara sauce. I think I'm going to try this out. Or maybe sprinkle lightly old bay seasoning on them, and dip them in clam chowder.
Thanks for the recipe.
Oh yum! That sounds delish!!
After watching your video it makes me realize why I keep coming back time after time. I find you (and Jim) not only informative but also entertaining in a way that just gives me that "feel good" feeling and gives me the desire to try out what Pam's doing. Thank you for all your expert advice and just plain making my day. Happy New Year to you both!! I will make some of these later in the week when we put a bunch of leftovers together to make a hearty soup or stew.
My mother used to take left over pie crust dough and make something like your dough and put cinnamon roll filling and roll up as a treat for us.
@BelovedLeah my momma (rip) always used the extra crust for the same thing, and we loved it so much that she made an extra crust recipe for more. Great memories

I do that as well. We all love them, especially my grandchildren.
Good afternoon to you lovely lady and your husband. So very glad that I came across your channel just before Xmas. I live in London UK and decided to make my own bread and purchased a breadmaker. After watching your channel I realised that I don't need the expensive machine so it's on its way back. Following your recipe gave me excellent results.Looking forward to making these bread sticks. Warm wishes to you all and a very blessed 2025. And thank you.
I think I would try Everything Bagel seasoning would be good!
Cinnamon and sugar on any sort of bread is a winner where ever you art. YUMMY!!!
Love Jims doing the taste test.❤❤
Happy New Year, Pam and Jim. Every time I make a loaf of bread or spray Steramine on my counter I think of you! Who knew I would take up bread making at age 82? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I have always tried to prepare for emergencies and I appreciate your channel. Long time viewer ❤
They're in my oven right now! I spread cinnamon roll filling on them before cutting and twisting. We'll see how they turn out!
Now that should be even better. I will try that!
Can’t wait to try these! Thank you and Happy New Year Pam & Jim!😘😘
I love you two, I also love this recipe, I may have to make some for supper tomorrow night or open up a jar of homemade tomato soup for lunch tomorrow. Thanks guys, 🇨🇦🌷
Would you like to share your home made tomato soup recipe?
Looks easy & good along with fast, but you always make it look easy. Happy New Year🎉
Great video Pam....gonna try these! I have been making your basic bread recipe for 3 months now....perfect results every time. Your channel is a gift to us all. Thank you for all the hard work and generosity, sharing your knowledge and expertise. I appreciate it. Happy New Year🙂
Great recipe that I'm going to have to try! Love your videos so much, found your channel recently and have been binging as many as I can. The fact that you keep everything real and show the positives and negatives, the things that went right and the things that don't, is absolutely wonderful, it gives me courage to try things I may not have for fear of 'messing up'.
I also make bread sticks with a yeast dough but these twists (both savory and sweet) look great! I am working these twists into my menu for next week. I love recipes that I can use my food storage. Thank you!
Pam, I really love seeing both you and your husband together and the love that emulates between you two.
You both are amazing!
I have a smaller food processor than yours that my husband bought me from Costco earlier in 2024 that I've used maybe twice. Looking at it it says it mixes dough so I'll see if I can do this recipe in it. Those cinnamon sugar ones pique my interest. Kind of in the churro category, but not deep fried...a little healthier version.
These would be good sprinkled with zatar seasoning or everything but the bagel seasoning
Happy New Year.
I'm with Jim, "BUTTER". HA!
Blessings, julie
Thank you for sharing, Jim & Pam. Happy New Year! 😊
I would brush melted butter on the cinnamon sticks (instead of oil), then have with a nice hot cuppa tea.
I would think the chilies would be wonderful. Great idea. I will try it!
Maybe add pesto to the dough and add parmasean cheese to the out side. Garlic also sounds like a nice add in. This is a nice idea. Quick and easy and something to have with soup.
Jim is right! It's basically a homemade Bisquick mix with water and olive oil added on top. It's a curious recipe. 🤔 I'll definitely try this out, with various toppings... bagel seasoning, pretzel salt, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, even Parmesan cheese.
Garlic and Parmesan would be great on them too! I am going to try these for sure!
What a fun recipe. I would think before twisting these maybe sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar or orange sugar would be better. Less waste that way and it coulf be pressed into the dough a bit so it holds on too.
Another savory one would be rosemary garlic. Use plive oil infused with garlic and bits of rosemary incorporated into the dough. Finely grated parmesan cheese would be good too.
I noticed the dough springing back when you were working with it. It might be good to let ot test so it relaxes better.
These are going in my reecipe box for sure.
Wow! Those look wonderful. I will try this recipe right away!
The cinnamon/sugar and the zest with sugar would be great with a cup of coffee or chai tea
Holding hands on camera?🫨 Scandalous!😳
Keep it up! Y'all are adorable and I love watching you have fun.
As for the bread sticks, both versions look good, but cheese is sadly missing! Maybe roll them in Parmesan cheese/Italian seasoning blend to serve with spaghetti or lasagna. I like the idea of the orange zest/sugar blend, but be sure to have some "glaze" to dip them in.
Thanks for a fun video!
Thank you lots of fun on these💚💛🙏🌬Oregon
Oh thank you ! Can't wait to try! 😃😃
I like this idea. Today. I'm canning navy bean and ham soup and I'm thinking crunchy breadsticks would go really well with it. I'm also thinking now could I put bacon bits in the breadsticks? That sounds so good to me.
Oohhh ... I just had a thought ( don't worry, I'm OK). Before twisting them, brush with oil on both sides and roll in corn meal. Serve with chili or beans.😋
That looks fun and tasty! I have every ingredient ... even a small container of Crisco that has been waiting in my small kitchen pantry for a couple of years. I am thinking it doesn't really expire if stored in more of a controlled temperature. I used to get a subscription of Taste of Home many years ago. Thanks for sharing this easy recipe.
You will definitely know if/when the Crisco expires. Trust me 😁
You mentioned or zest I would think you could also blend that in with the dough as well as sprinkle some
Oh thank you for sharing this recipe this is great, I make my own biscuits everyday instead today I'm going to make breadsticks to go with my eggs
These sound really good! I always buy mine from Lidl but I'll try make them. everything but the bagel seasoning would be great on them too. Thanks for the recipe.
Sesame seeds?
Today is a snowy day in Ohio. Sounds like a fun thing to try.
Thanks!
baste the flat sticks with an egg wash and stick grated cheese to them, then twist a few times and bake, i would use the extra old, or something with spicy peppers in it , this is exciting, may try it with soup or a pot of chili ! yum thanks for the share of this Pam and Jim !
I will have to try these! You guys are just so damned cute! Thanks for trying these for us all!
Looking forward to trying these ❤
There’s is a local pizza place that makes these. They call it Pepe bread. They put garlic butter on them and they are so good warm
Good little snack
I'm gonna try these,I think the kiddos would like the cinnamon sugar twist...gonna also brush some with garlic butter and try that...seasonings? you can really add a lot of different ones to those can't you...
Thanks for the video
I really like how you made this recipe wothout havinb previously tried ir! I think its fun seeing how they turn out. Please do more recipe videos like this. I'm sure im not the only one who wouldnt mind if it didnt turn out great snd hearing what youd do differently. Im.planning on makinv breadsticks in my bread machine soon, as i want to expam my bread making skills.
You two are the cutest couple. I don’t eat bread a lot so most is leftovers and goes to birds. But I heard if you store bread in fabric covered in bees wax it will last longer. Not sure if that’s true but I have some beeswax fabric and will try with these.
I love watching you interact.💕 Looks like a good recipe Happy New Year
You look georgeous today!
For the savoury ones try shredded cheese and oregano you’ll probably enjoy them more. I like your orange zest ones as a new idea for me. You could also brush them with egg whites and a bit of water to brown them more for visual appeal. Also brush them before you divide them into 1/2” strips, just for ease in labour.
Love seeing your first time reactions !
Jim & Pam have your read "Wheat Belly"? Great book explains why wheat/grains today are not the grains of those in our ancestors and have been adaulterated such that they're really no longer health for us to consume. With America's raging obestiy and diabetes (and many other health issues due to unhealthy food consumption) I'd think you'd be all over that
There is non GMO wheat that is much better than the wheat off the shelf, nomore bloating
Thats what I buy @@sheilabrennan5543
Love the suggestions for these. Your hair is very pretty!!
Happy New Year Pam and Jim! I am going to give this recipe a try,I love the cinnamon and sugar idea!
What a cool idea
Orange buns are incredible, I’m making these tomorrow
They look good. Experiment suggestion? I thought you were starting to make an Irish Soda Bread mix in the beginning. I made Irish Soda Bread only once and loved it so much that I quit before I got addicted. LOL Wonder if these breadsticks would work with making bread sticks with some baking soda instead of baking powder?
I might just make a smaller loaf of Irish Soda Bread again and take some of the dough and make a few bread sticks to see if they work. At least if they are flops, I still would have a small loaf of bread.
Good Morning, Pam and Jim! I usually don’t have shortening in the house. Can you use butter as a replacement in this recipe?
I love watching you two! This is great fun! Looking forward to trying this recipe. Can cold butter be substituted or anything else? I don't purchase lard. Thank you!
I would used ruler as a guide line to cut the strips, you did good!
Pam, try Better Than Bagel seasoning on top.
Is that different than the everything bagel seasoning?
Oooo, yummy
Could you mix in some cheese to the dough as your mixing it all together for cheesy bread sticks?
Could we use butter instead to spread over
Cinnamon twists with hot chocolate
The cinnamon sugar ones make me think of churros.
I like to make those sticks with frozen puff pastry and with cheese on top after twirling the strips. But I might give this recipe a try: cheaper!
Just a cooking show!? This is a food science show! They obviously haven't watched it.
How do you think they would be with fresh milled flour? What water adjustments would need to be made?
The cinnamon ones would go good with hot chocolate.
Always love your videos. I have a QUESTION that has nothing to do with this. At your suggestion, I switched to using Redmond Sea Salt. My son asked me about the fact that it has no Iodide in it, which is important to our diets. Do you take supplements for your Iodide intake, or what? Thanks
Could we use butter on the sweet?
It's sad people leave rotten comments. I know I appreciate your videos and content. Thank you and Jim.
Hello Pam and Jim, could you share any thoughts or ideas you may have about "grid down" laundry systems? Thank you and God Bless +JMJ+
❤
Are you using fmf?
I would love to make these, but what can you use to mix the ingredients if you do not have a food processer. Only a hand mixer. Thanks
Mix as you would pie crust. Whisk the dry ingredients together then cut in the shortening using a pastry tool or two knives, or even just your hands until it is all the same consistency. Have fun!
Add some shredded cheddar cheese and you have cheese sticks!
The savory might be good sprinkled with salt & caraway seeds instead of salt and thyme.
Instead of water, add pine apple or pomegranate, check which one is good. It's will be sour in flavor.
Another option is add beet root pulp. Beet root give sweet flavor.
They're pastry aren't they?
Soaking the potatoes does remove potassium. This is how I prepared mine while on dialysis.
Should brush them with ghee instead of olive oil!! :)
I don't have a food processor
I got myself one for Christmas 😅
i have but i don't use it much, just do it by hand, a bit longer time but oh well.
I wonder if a pastry cutter would work?
@@lynnsutherland931 It would, or just a fork.
Oohhh ... I just had a thought ( don't worry, I'm OK). Before twisting them, brush with oil on both sides and roll in corn meal. Serve with chili or beans.😋
