When I was in, a night jump was generally followed by two or three weeks in the field. Other than that, night jumps were awesome, surreal (every jump was surreal), and scary.
It separates the Men from boys will quick.
Hello 82nd airborne.. I live in Aberdeen NC I see and hear the planes often . They go over my house. Thank you for your service. I feel safe and humble
After my enlistment was over, I moved to Southern Pines and started college at Sandhills Community College. I also had a girlfriend by the name of Lucy. I am from, and now live in Oregon.
Very nice comment. Thank you :)
That also was my son from 2001 to 2004 of the 82nd Airborne, 150 Charlie Company. God bless and protect our brave soldiers. We have our freedom which we take for grated everyday. Please stop and think of them and all those who have sacrificed there lives for us and where we would be today without them.
My father was 101st Airborne was ship to Korea at 19 first Bronze Star and purple heart then did 3 tours of Vietnam my brother went Airborne 82nd at 19 went to Iraq
13 years up and down Ardennes.
"Jumpers Hit It" "Go Limp and Take It" "Feet and Knees Together"......I heard these more on bragg boulevard than I did in airborne school! Lived like a damn Rockstar every 3 day weekend
My brother was with the 82nd Airborne ..he told me about the night jumps..I can't imagine in the dark not see when I was going to touch the ground ..our father was 101st Airborne Vietnam 1965 -1968 ..also Korean war 187 Airborne combat infantry ..made 2 combat jumps he was 18 ..can't imagine jumping in war and the dark
That brings back memories night jumps were always different
Steps taken to after a somewhat successful PLF
1. Get out of the harness quick enough too take a piss.
2. Extract rifle from carrying case .
3 .Gather up parachute,, stuff it in the kit bag you jumped with.
4. Sort thru the 500 pieces of 550 cord you used too tie down various equipment. Locate NVGs , attach nvgs to your helmet.
5. Spot your company rally point which is a IR symbol placard on a pole.
6. Done your ruck, put parachute kit bag on top of your ruck.
7. Move too your rally point at a jog, with your neck slightly bent towards the ground.
8. If you’re a grunt, prepare too hate life for the next couple of weeks too a month , because you’re most likely jumping into a field exercise.
This sucked, and yet I still miss it.
This made me laugh. So true. I go to the field for 2 weeks tomorrow night. I'm watching these videos for some confidence.
N/CE (Night/Combat Equipment) jumps where when we really made our jump pay (other than real world combat jumps, but those are only once in a lifetime). Everyone hesitantly looks forward to getting that mustard stain.
Miss being on Green Tamp and doing this. “AATW!”
Been there....done that.....sign me a retired Canadian Forces Army parachute rigger officer......(and EZ, DZ & LZ controller) Airborne...!
I love this. God bless you all.
Great work and i love it
LET’S GOOOOO! LET’S GET IT!!!
82nd AIRBORNE DIV ON DECK!!!!!!!!!!!!❤THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU MEN AND WOMEN FOR WHAT YOU DO!!!!!!!From a U.S ARMY Woman Veteran!!!!!!
What's with no weapons on a night combat equipment jump?
Yeah, your right.....that was odd
No follow on and no arms room fuckery, send it
82nd 77-84, we always had night jumps in the middle of winter and day jumps in the middle of summer. We didn't have all the room like in that Cadillac! C130's where you almost sat on each other. Green light comes on and you push the person in front of you.
They are not infantry
@BladeArtist 205 if they are not infantry then they are pogs lol
I love night jumps. You could pull-off a stand up and do all sorts of misbehavior the Lifers didn't see.
All of our night jumps at Bragg were sans equipment. Too many losses in gear.
done quite a few of those...the most interesting thing was how land appeared all of a sudden, not being able to see it approaching
They are moving way too fast to the ramp for combat jump. Easy sitting on chairs before hooking up, try that on 53 with full combat and web gear, my knees were shot before I was 24.
Goddang, it's men rainy season all over again? It's heccin good
great stuff love it
Those guys really respected me because I told them that I'm really frightened by all this but I know what I have to do and I'm going to do it anyway they like the fact that I had healthy fear
82 to 86 all my jumps were night jumps ha ha for all you legs 307th engineer and HHT 82nd Airborne
I was there same time as you !! 2/505 PIR
We did a night jump... 2:30 am... And they did a heavy drop ahead of us!... Watch for chem lights!
very good pictures ❤
You're only as good as being an American we have something special
I love army 💪
love it
The sorry ass 8 people who disliked this had to have been LEGS! AATW
Night jumps were my favorite.
I'm about to do my first jump with the americans. Night jump from a globemaster just like this.
You can feel it
God bless MY Soldiers 🇺🇸 fighting the evildoers of the world 🌎

Just because you’re able to do something, doesn’t mean you should. In any case, killing civilians is a war crime. I wouldn’t want to serve with someone like that. The only thing that pilot deserves is prison.
I’m a former medic from the 82nd if you’re wondering. That’s what brought me here.

How the hell do they know when they’re gonna land?
You don't anticipate the landing because you will reach for the ground and break a leg. You stay in the landing position and look out to the horizon. It's not like skydiving where they flare their shoots and walk away.
Actually you can see fairly well when you compare it to trees and what little horizon is there

AATW!
OMG have they really slowed down the exits that much it would take a DZ the size of texas to empty a C17 at that rate. No offense but in the old days (80s-90s) you could put two guys in-between each of those jumpers, and it was sooo quiet on that bird, wheres the yelling and airbornes as you approached the door? My how things have changed and no weapons???? Not picking I know its not their decision to do things so differently its just difficult to take in the changes sometimes.
Army had changed a lot. It went from violent and smart heroes, to friendly teddy bears
In 1st Ranger Battalion back in early 80’s we hustled out of the birds especially smaller DZ’s, only jumps I made with no weapons (Hollywood jumps) were when the Surviving Merrill’s Marauders came to HAAF once a year for their convention.
These are POG's jumping. We treated every DZ like Nijmegen. The faster we jumped the sooner we could piss and smoke
MY SOLDIERS
where the MAWCS at, no weapons on the DZ I quess
STRIKE HOLD........
Let's Go
Although I was parachute qualified (7 jumps) and almost got a combat jump Dominican Republic 1965, mass jumps are so out moded. Its far better to have a few do a high altitude incursion.
❤😂
I was a C130 Crew Chief at Pope. Back in the 80's the green ramp had a dirt shoulder and the 82nd grunts would sit on it in rows. I guided the planes in to park and tell them to turn them real sharp. Guess who ate dirt! LOL
@Hugh Wright Anytime "Airborne"..."Yeah so's bird shit". LOL Sorry had to say it. Old habits.
AATW... 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
how do they see the ground before hitting the ground
you dont
The parachute landing fall position allows you to see the ground. And you also have to check altitude regularly to be at the right height to drop your ruck.
we simply tell when we hear our rucksack hit the ground!
Before we hit the ground, we released our rucksacks on an 18 foot lowering line, and I always listened for the light "thump" when my ruck hit the ground. I then braced for my PLF (Parachute Landing Fall).
@@groverodell7357 how did you know which riser to pull if you cant see the direction the ground is moving under you?
It appears to me just another Hollywood motion picture.
Is night vision utilized?
The red light in the cabin is to keep the night vision adjusted for the jumpers once they hit the ground. For this jump they didn't wear NVGs (Night Vision Goggles). When I was in the 82nd in the 80s, we had no NVGs at all.
You don’t wear NODs on a jump. It’s in your preferred load bearing equipment, which is inside your rucksack. You put it on once you hit the ground.
I can tell they are not infantry
#flatearthnews
Quem quer encarar os U.S.A?
I know they don’t want to be there 😂 they sound miserable
My brother was in it and I can honestly say he hated it! The military is bs!!!!
What exactly did he hate about it
@@Itz_Ashley11 dan near everything...Once you get to a certain rank you are seeing more and more bs. he got out because of what he learned they are not fighting to protect freedom...
@@GHustle4 it gets more and more political....just like any other bs job out here...thats why i work for myself and even that has its ups and downs
@@GHustle4 Welcome to the world. Everything is an illusion and seems great until you're actually out there doing it. Fucking sucks man.
