That summit views were amazing! That was a difficult hike but so beautiful along the way with cascades. Your videos make me feel like I am right there hiking along side you. Thanks for sharing the nature pictures also. Great video👍
Thank you so much!! Yes I am always striving to improve my editing and try different styles. It is always great when those efforts are noticed and appreciated! Thank you so much!
This is so helpful. I am planning an attempt with my 12-year-old later this summer and I appreciate knowing what I'm getting into. He's going to love that steep section. I just hope I can get down it!
You got that right! It seriously adds up. The way it seems is if its like a ten mile hike normally it takes me 1to 13 maybe even 15 miles to do haha. Even easier to tell is if its a 4 hour hike it gets extended to 1.5 times the hours. so like 6 or 7 hours to do haha. It looks like for this specific hike I turned 6.6 miles into 10.1 miles lolol
In the morning when I started I was worried that I had not, since the clouds were so low. And if I had been hiking regularly I think I would have summited in the clouds. Luckily I'm so slow while filming these things I made it to the summit just in time for everything to burn off in the midafternoon. Perfect timing!
Amazing videos and loved Moosilauke, used to be amazed by it every season when I used to live nearby in North Haverhill. Ascended Gorge Brook but never Beaver Brook yet, hopefully soon! You make it look so easy!
Glad you enjoyed the video! What a great one to climb every season. I guess you know what you should try next time that you go! It sure made me sweat on the day of!
Thanks for the beautiful hike!! It looks terrifying on the descent. 😮🥾🥾 Your videos are always fantastic. My wife and I are hiking a bit in the White’s next year. Want to get together for a hike/backpack?
Awesome! Thank you! It certainly was tiring if not terrifying haha. I don' know what my plans for next year are. But Ill think about organizing something to give everyone a chance who might want to!
That steep and wet ascent looks scary, but coming down must have been super scary. I resisted for my whole life, but I recently started using trekking poles. I used them climbing Mount Marcy in New York a couple weeks ago. It was wet and tricky attempting to stay dry. There were a number of stream crossing that would have been almost impossible without poles. I purchased some carbon fiber poles at Sierra that I love.
OO it had luckily dried out a tiny bit by the time I was heading down. Just a little slow and steady. OO awesome! I recently picked up some myself that I have been using to help me hike through recovering from my knee surgery and they have been life savers! Happy Hiking!
@AdamHoyt I recently hiked down Moosilauke on an 8 day trip. Your video prepared me for it, but it was still intense. Previously I held out Hell Brook Trail from the Long Trail on the ridge of Mount Mansfield into Smuggler's Notch Vermont as the steepest trail I'd ever done. It may still be, but I found the north side of Moosilauke to be more abusive. Have you done Hell Brook Trail? I searched your vids and didn't find one on it. If you haven't done one, I'd be curious to see a video on it.
Did this October 2000. The ascent was awesome. There was snow up near treeline The desent was horrible. It was awful. My worst hike The Flume Slide ascent. A nightmare with damp rocks. I should of brought ropes with me for that trail.

When I did Moosilauke (via Glen Cliff) we got NO views from Moose itself, but some phenominal views from the South peak. Especially of the clouds rolling into the ridge. Next time we'll go up Beaver Brook and then back down Glencliff for sure. But going down Beaver Brook does not sound like a wise choice for me.
I've seen several people get no views from the top so I was very pleased with the perfect day I got. I would highly agree with you that descending beaver Brook is more difficult than ascending. It is just so steep with so many rocks. As a larger guy I usually enjoy the downhills since I get to let gravity do most of the work for me, but on this trail I had to do extra work to hold myself back since I had to basically carefully pick every foothold to navigate the rocks and steps. My legs were burning by the end!
@@AdamHoyt Yea, I pretty much always find down harder than up. I can just grit my way up, but down I have to be so cautious. Went up Flume Slide a few weeks back. I would not go down the top .5 miles without rope and harness! Going down Falling Leaf and Bridle Path, however was not too bad. Some spots took some care, but mostly it was smooth sailing. Since I hate doing out and back anyway, for me it's just a matter of figuring out which is the steepest and going UP that one!
What's your favorite summit in the NH48?
i'm planning on finishing the 48 sometime this fall, I have 18 left. I think i'll tackle the terrifying 25 next year
Probably Adams or South Twin Mtn
Franconia Ridge and Mt. Lafayette bar none
@@Crunchypinecone a freaking solid choice! That ridge line is Legendary!
Definitely a must-do hike the next time I get to New Hampshire.
I whole heartedly agree!!

Glad you like them! Hard but worth it!
I’m liking how you’re editing your videos now with the different angle shots and talking along the way! You had beautiful weather on the Moose!!

I'm hoping to climb this trail before the summer's out! Awesome video as always.
You should! It was challenging but that is what made the view that much more sweet!

I am so glad you have found the video helpful. i hope you and your 12 year old had a blast scrambling up the stairs!
You round trip total miles must way out for you the amount of times you set up your tripod for us to give them awesome shots. Great video.

Awesome video as usual. If I did I would have poles coming down!
You and me both!
My knees are on fire just looking at that trail
It was a dooooooozy!
Spectacular video work! Don't get to see much of a full ascent in AT vlog's
Glad you liked it!

Very scary thanks!
You're welcome SOOOOOOOO scary!!
Terrifying indeed, it's going on the list!
A worthy addition!
Beautiful views!!! ⛰🏞
It really is! Thanks!

Great video!
Thank you!
Not a trail for the dizzy or weak kneed. Adam did you use a drone?
Quite! There was one moment off trail before the summit I found a suitable spot to launch.
I feel like the presidential range is harder. Particularly that stretch between Madison springs hut to lake of the clouds.
That would be a fare choice too. I'll have to see if they post signs to scare you there every 5 minutes as well.
Great video, Adam. Was that first selection of music from Zelda?
Yes it was! You have a keen ear. From the newest game as well!
I subscribed thanks for sharing
Thanks for subbing!
I am so doing this!
You'd be a fool not to!

!
How long did it take you to hike up and down in total?
Don’t ask me because I was filming and took forever. Regular person maybe 5-6 hours?
thank you @@AdamHoyt
This was terrifying and one of the hardest?
It seemaed quite tough at the time and the signs sure wanted me to think it was! (Plus it’s on the Terrifying 25 hiking list)
Do you go back and get the cameras that you walk passed? 😂
Yes that is exactly what happens! If you watch some of my first videos I made I used to include walkbacks at the end of the videos.
Is that Zelda as background music
Yes
