    See the description of the video for more detailed info. I hope you get something out of this tutorial, and I hope you have the confidence now to change your own transmission fluid.

    Could be wrong but believe there is a transmission fluid filter, “25430-PLR-003” is the part number. Look behind the engine air filter housing, back behind the right side of the engine.

      @@kevinschmitz123 Yes you are correct, I discovered this after I made this video. I still have not replaced mine yet, but I will. Local parts stores here don't carry them but here it is on Amazon: amzn.to/3WfrZz2 (OEM) or amzn.to/3zwdWw1 It's funny, the service manual makes no mention of it, but after awhile, it should be replaced I feel like. Thanks for making mention of it!

      Looking forward to another video for it! I need to replace both my ATF fluid and that filter on my ‘12 Civic EX.

    Nice work. Most Honda transmissions will last forever with proper service. I highly suggest you get yourself a set of jack stands.

    7:47 Why is there no automatic transmission filter?

      @@uhkbkh-fc1ks Actually I found out later on that there is one indeed, it's an in-line filter. You can find it here on Amazon amzn.to/3zwdWw1 I'll be changing mine soon.

    I left the skid plate off for right now so I could see if the plug is leaking, I reused to washer too.

      @@XeonProductions That's good thinking, that way you'll be able to tell pretty quick if you have a leak. I've always reused the washer, and so far so good 👍

    Im planing on doing drain and refill on my honda accord 2012. Now do You only did it once? I seen some people do it 3 times, with the fluid prices i really dont want to waste the fluid, if i do it. What do you recommend? I got the car with 80k miles, it is now 140k

    • @my-honest-review
      @my-honest-review  Місяць тому +1

      @@TucaMotonTV12 Just one time is fine. You are only replacing approx 3 qts of fluid, while the trans holds more in total. But this is what is required. Then do it again 50 to 60k miles from now. Unless you do hard around town miles, then do it sooner.

    I used valvoline maxlife and the transmission shifted and shuttered horribly. I changed back over to dw1 and the transmission shifts perfectly. Just sharing my experience

      @@jeffsgarage4563 I appreciate that Jeff! Yes, I have been scared to use anything other than OEM fuild in whatever trans I am servicing. I use aftermarket fluids on alot of other things, but not the trans. Thanks for hanging out!

    my 2012 civic jutters a bit on light acceleration when going from 1st to 2nd gear. The shift is not smooth, could a fluid change help?

    • @jeffs70chevelle
      @jeffs70chevelle 11 днів тому +1

      My 2012 has been doing the same since I bought it at 20k miles. I'm at 260k miles and it's much more severe but still going. I have to give it a little more gas or let off completely when I know it's shifting sometimes.

    • @my-honest-review
      @my-honest-review  2 дні тому

      Generally, a fluid change will not help a slip (or a non-smooth shift) situation. Just make sure the fluid level is okay, top off as needed, and leave it alone. A fluid change could make it worse at this point.

    Why does Honda specify 2.5 quarts for this car?

    • @my-honest-review
      @my-honest-review  5 місяців тому +1

      It's actually 2.9 qts, so just a tad will be left in that 3rd qt.

  • @JmguyN8
    @JmguyN8 3 місяці тому

    Wander why the owners manual states 2.5 quarts?

    • @my-honest-review
      @my-honest-review  3 місяці тому +1

      @@JmguyN8 Not sure, it may because they don't want you to overfill it. You got to be careful for sure. Best to get close, then keep checking the level and "sneak up on it" little bits at the time when in doubt.
