this is a great video but I think I am lost on how you got the size of the two rectangles you sewed on to each side? are they double the width of the plackets on either side plus the seam allowances on either side of the rectangles? thanks
This is by far the most detailed description for creating a placket I’ve seen. I just followed these instructions step-by-step, rewinding as needed. After some amount of time with my seam ripper (🥴), I now have a nicely stitched placket! Whew! THANK YOU!

Amateur dressmaking. You can clearly see the puckering at the base.
If you paid proper attention you would have heard her say that she went slightly over the stitching line which caused the puckering.
