These pieces look amazing, so beautiful. I love copper and the way it looks with different gemstones, especially green and blue. I watched this other video about electro - plating Yvonne, and the guy who made it used super glue with baking soda to create a really strong bond between his substrate and the gemstone he was using. So, what he did was to apply super glue to, say, a piece of wood - or whatever - and then he stuck an amethyst nugget to the wood and added some baking soda to the glue with a tooth pick so that they bonded instantly. It was amazing to see, and then he electro - plated over the top of the glue and baking soda mixture. The mixture was smooth so it was easy to cover with the plating.

All of a sudden everyone is teaching electroforming on UA-cam. When I started I had to watch a video of a dad hosting pretend science camp with his kid 😭 you’re amazing and will save so many people from the struggle I experienced lmao

Yikes! Try plating for 12 hours on 0.03. The rule of thumb is .01 for every square inch. That way you can plate more smoothly and you won’t have all that rough prickly copper. Less amp is always better. Do 0.02 for amulets and rings as they are roughly 2 square inches. Great job on capturing the technique tho!

Thanks for the tips! I really love the gnarled, bumpy texture after it's been run through the tumbler, but randy prefers smooth and even plating

If you want you can use lead solder since you are going to copper plate over it. ... Or you can use lead free or even silver solder ... And you can use the copper tape even with silver plating ...

Yvonne, thanks sooooo much for all the time and effort and heart you put into all your instructional videos. I had a question- for the little bottles that you electroformed the lids/toppers for- you put on the lid in the electroform bath, is that right?

Try running it at 0.20 amps and it'll produce a smoother finish. But be aware it will take a little bit longer

Thank you so much, great video! I was wondering, I am new to electroforming..and is the tape alone sufficient to make the copper stick or hold onto the stones once its electroformed? Also was wondering your thoughts on why you prefer tape to conductive paint...Thank you so much for any input, Im a total newbie! :)

If you want a beautiful smooth look with no bumps turn your rectifier on low and leave in the bath for long slow and long makes for the best looks smooth and beautiful but thats me many people do like the bumpy looks i like to to look like its a pretty rose gold. Im no pro at this Im very knew to this technique for me its the low and slow long its in the better it will look 10 hour or longer but do check on your piece often

They are rubber tipped paint brushes, or rubber tip sculpting tools, depending on where you are buying from. Here are some that I would recommend: amzn.to/4eWbSh2
