    I love it. GM’s colonnade cars are my favorite. Yes, they’re slower than the previous muscle car era cars but like this one proves that’s easily fixed. I don’t doubt what this guy says. Remember back in those days, most if not all factory performance parts were still available through the dealer parts department. As long as you paid for the parts and labor the dealer would gladly put them on for you. Way cool car. GM should’ve sold them this way. Outstanding.

    Nice, I owned a 77 Cutlass S after high school all through college, sold it after, missed it for years even after i purchased a 71 Cutlass S about 10 years later. 2020 i got the nostalgic for my 77 and started looking, found a rough shape 77 442 on FB marketplace, ended up getting it from the guy for the price of a used engine because of the bodies condition. Just had its original 403 freshly rebuilt , it has a dual gate shifter, sport steering wheel with tilt, dual gate shifter and cruise control and that same spoiler he has....it runs great but is a virtual rust bucket but i love it.

      @@FasTraxCars Thanks, never uploaded a vid of it, but here you go. I forgot to mention it came in pieces, the guys dad (it was one of many of his dads Olds that the poor old guy had gotten too old to do the work he started ) had the rebuilt engine on the stand and various parts scattered all over his barn in Richards, TX. I pieced it together and it ran great. I was going to go straight "Roadkill" after getting it running but soon after the trans died, possibly because it sat outside on the ground and had numerous dirt daubers and other critters in it, i thought i had cleaned it well enough for it to run but during one of my test drives it lost first gear, drained fluid and it was a mixture of sand in the bottom of the pan. Im not sure if the trans is orginal to the car but i will probably replace it with a 200r4 like in my 71, I havent lost interest in this car, i just got back to trying to finish my 71 that ive had since my son was 5 or 6, lol, now hes 30.

    Mr. B. Here ! ☕️☕️🍩🍩👀😎👍. Am 71 now , and worked for a Oldsmobile Dealer and prepped my own G37 Cutlass S 442 witch I still have today ! Time has taken it’s toll on the old girl, have not had the heart to sent it to the yard . I do have a Cutlass S same year , I’ve pulling many of the parts from my 442 to install on my Cutlass S . The Colonnades have gotten a bad rap great platforms to work on so few are left. Oh many of who blame the Dem’s also blame members of the GOP , both party’s with all the 💩💩💩 have created the garbage we have today , don’t miss understand we have some good stuff out there, it’s the platforms . I may point to keep true to myself as I stated two Cutlasses , 58, Super 88 : 64 Cutlass Convertible: 70 442 Convertible: one 76 GMC Sprint : & one 1984 ugly Delta 88 , which has some improvements ( Frankenstein ) ! I state this because am so tired of the BS out there I was toll by those who saved the world a long time ago as kid life is what you make ( key word ) you make : many of them have left us, most have forgotten how great we are 🇺🇸🇺🇸 second none ! Yet BS is running wild ! Duty , Honor, Country, that is who we are ! Not some Clown 🎪🎪🤡🤡 ! We are great ! 👀😎👍🛻🚗🇺🇸🇺🇸

    Calgary is a goldmine. Found my Buick 455 lesabre from 1975 there too. Just like this. All original and great.
    My car also had work done by the original owner. He wanted the dual exhausts but since 1975 the catalytic converters were standard the duals werent availible anymore. So the dealer (Stampede Buick & Pontiac) ordered the guy the car and ordered the 1974 dual exhaust system and installed it for him.

    I bet he had Boston, Thin Lizzie and the Who blasting from the 8 track. A friend in highschool got his dads 77 Cutlass Supreme with the 350 given to him. That car was a running mother and kept up with my Charger. That was one of the better cars from the malaise era.

      The car currently has a remote controlled AM-FM-CD player in the glovebox. The front speakers are 4" Kickers and the rear are 6x9 Jensen Tri-axels. They are in the factory spaces since the car was ordered with the 4 speaker sound system (AM-FM-8-Track) so no cutting anywhere. The rear tray is original too. If you turn it up you watch the rearview mirror shake. Don't do that anymore... as I get older

    I ordered a black/gold 1977 olds 442 in 76-77. It had every option I could get, Had the 403 engine. I was at the dealer asking about when it should arrive. While I was at the dealer the car arrived on the truck. When the backed it off it was smoking through the tailpipe. The engine only lasted 14 days. Broken rings. Sat it the dealer collecting dust in the shop. So I walked over and wrote junk all over it. They started to work finally. Drove for about a month and the rings broke again (second engine) the engine didn't feel right when I drove it. They did a compression check. The third engine within 7 months.. It had a ticking noise. They hit the blower motor. The service manager told me to get the GD thing out of there. Only six months old with three engines and less than 6500 miles So I did and drove it to the Chrysler dealer and bought a 78 Cordoba. Parked it in front of the Olds dealer.. The owner came out and asked me what I did with the 442. I told him what the service manager told me so I did.. Chrysler dealer sold it very fast to a soldier. Not long after he was killed in battle. His mother drove it. Something happened to one of the t-tops and she just put a tabletop cover Plastic and taped it down. Bothered me everytime I saw it. She told me someone broke into it and messed up the dash.

      It's a roller cam. The car has a 9.75:1 compression so it can take pump gas. It has Ka heads (2.072) with a three angle valve grind. Cam specs are LSA 112 w/4 deg. advance, .281 / .281 / .224 / .230 @ .050. It is not too loud and has a nice rumble to it. To the non-Oldsmobile eye it looks stock.

    I dont know how it has dual exhaust because GM only made single exhaust 75 and after except where it was dual out of the muffler only such as the Firebird/Camaro or Nova/GTO/Omega etc. Maybe he's got the exhuast going dual again AFTER the catalytic converter. Anyway, he did an excellent job with the tailpipes beveled like that and close to the bumper. He's obviously a detail guy and keeps his vehicle in beautiful condition!

    This '76 model was near the start of the horsepower robbing catalytic converters. Did cars sold in CANADA also have the pollution reduction mandate in effect ?!? BTW - always thought the GM "swivel seat" option was for ease of exit for the front occupants. Interesting to find out the swivel action was for easier access to the back seat. 🚘🔍. Many Thanks Yo !

    • @kenp108
      @kenp108 5 місяців тому +4

      They advertised it as "ease of exit", however it's pretty difficult to get in the back without them swiveling. In Canada you could order a car at the time without Cat Conv. If you did that you got a $35 credit. The provinces have different rules, BC being the most aggressive. In Alberta there are no tests and since Canada's population is 10x smaller than the US, they never implemented pollution tests for cars. Besides, that is provincial jurisdiction.

    I bought a new 73 with swivel bucket seats and they were prone to split the seam on the corner where the bottom and back touched. They modified that in 1974 but I thought for 75 the split back was the go too seat. 76 was the last year for the 455 supposedly there were only 400 or so of them made. I have never seen a Colonade of any year with a W 30 either. It looks legit though. What a find.

    nice car but.. the dealer would have never installed the w-30 aluminum intake, used from 1970 through 72, it would have voided the EPA cert. no dual exhaust, again, EPA/CAT. violation, they never offered a cat back dual exh. for a 75/77 colonade, and i doubt the 3.42 gear. i worked at a dealership in the 70's, 2.73 was it on these cars, they offered a 260 v8 with a 5 speed manual on the cutlass, i have one. the rear end ratios were 3.08, with a special order 3.23. also, they did not offer the 400 turbo in the cutlass from 1973/1977. 350 turbo only.again, the dealer would have never installed a 400 turbo, as this would be a warr. void, and violation, and they never made a w-30 76/77 olds..and the dual gate shifter is a 73/75 hurst olds shifter, i have one in my 77 442. direct fit but again, not avail. when new. the dealer would have been able to install that. and, never seen a 76 cutlass 455 with the K code heads, motorhome and marine only. the first owner made this car as he would have bought it if he could have. back in 76 you could buy the 70/73 dual exhaust manifolds, the aluminum intake, and the shifter.the K code heads, 400 turbo, and 3.42 rear could be found locally. good work on the hood, and it also has an early ram air air cleaner, i believe 71/72.

      Canada wasn't subject to EPA rules and still isn't. The dealer installed the manifolds however, still made it single exhaust. I made it a dual exhaust years later. The original owner got a $35 credit for catalytic converter delete request. The 3:42 rear gears came from the 1974 model year and were installed as the car sat at the dealership for a week after arriving. The turbo 400 transmission was in the car from the factory. Check your facts. If the 455 was ordered, you had no choice but to take the turbo 400 transmission. The W30 was what Oldsmobile called the 455 in the 74/75 Hurst. A 350 was called the W25. This is the same engine as the 74/75 but internally modified. I put the W30 on the grill as it's the same as the 455's in the Hurst and more W30 than the 1980 442 W30. The engine on this car has been modified to about 400 HP with the up grades. The K heads I put on. I said in the video, to the non-Oldsmobile eye, the car LOOKS stock. I never said it was stock. The hood is full fiberglass hood. It did not come with the car, I added it because it is an Oldsmobile design, but I still have the original hood. This is a T code card (T = 455 in the VIN). I've owned the car for 45 years so I was bound to make a few changes. I just took what the original owner did, and expanded on it. I am not saying anything false about this car. What would be the point?
