Blake Shelton God's Country | Metal / Rock Fan Reaction with Knob Creek Single Barrel Select

- A couple of rock dudes listening to Blake Shelton's God's Country for the first time, and enjoying some Knob Creek Single Barrel Select. This seemed like a really good pairing.
To move your song (or bourbon) to the front of the list, please bribe us by sending a bottle of bourbon, preferably one we haven't had on the channel yet, to:

Blake Shelton's song Ole Red!! Good tune, and the one that brought me into Blake's music!
I fell in love with watching shaq in that video!! If you haven’t seen… watch it!! Great!! Hahha❤️tennessee
We'll add that one to our list.
OMG, I love this song!!!!
From what I understand, this was filmed on Blake’s land in Oklahoma where he lives.
He lives in Oklahoma…
@@austinhain5117 Thank you sweetie, I always get the two mixed up!
That's true God's country, from an Okie. 😁
Oh, Blake has an awesome live version of this on the music awards. He can definitely reproduce it live.
I was going to tell them that and how awesome he is live at BIG concerts BUT AWESOME AT dive bars too. He is Phenomenal and won me over to being a fan BECAUSE OF THAT AND LIKE GWEN his shocking knowledge of TONS OF MUSIC GENRES AND TASTE!!!!!! He’s pretty great and when you get to know him you get why he and Gwen work better!!!!!! BUT HE HEARD ONLY LIKE A FEW CORDS WHEN the song was sent and he Automatically said yes!!!!!! He had zero plans on getting back into writing and singing like that again until this song if I remember his interview correctly. And they need to see his live performances of this!!!!! He’s great acoustically and Acapella !!!!!
He should have won the Grammy for this .. Willie Nelson won and he’s one of the greats but no one even knows what song he sang .. this was the Biggest song of the year and Blake’s 9th Grammy nomination!! Damn they should just give one after that many nominations.. but this one is so special he should have won !
That's why I love country music!!!! You get Country Rock Country Rap & Country Blues!!! And you don't have to play it over and over to hear the words!!
Guys his live versions are every bit as good as this.
My favorite line in this song is “ The Devil went down to Georgia but he didn’t stick around.“ that’s an awesome line! Oh, let’s not forget about “baptized in Holy water and shine.”
I love how the Devil went down to Georgia implies that either: A) the devil is a northerner, or B) that Georgia is lower than hell!
@@MrNiccholas 😂 😂 😆
Wow! You guys managed to mention Black Sabbath, ripping out a beating heart, and Millie Vannilli(spelling?) in the same reaction. THAT takes talent. (I went to one of MVs fake arse shows as a teenager. I still want my money back!!)
I legit laughed at this comment. - Keith
Some more good Blake songs "Ol Red" "Hillbilly Bone" with Trace Atkins and "Some Beach"
Added to the list.
Ol red ... yes please
He has a really good acoustic cover of She Talk's To Angels.
We might want to check that out. I liked the original.
He performed this at the CMT’s and it was live, sounded just as good! Boy’s Around Here by Blake is fun song. I would also suggest Drake White Making Me Look Good Again, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith for fun ones like As Good as I Once Was, I Love This Bar.
I've put those on the list, thanks for the suggestions -Dustin
I've recommended this heart renching song on another of your videos tonight (I just found yall this week) but "the father, my son, and the Holy ghost" by Craig Morgan came out round the same time. Blake ran a public campaign to literally remove his song from the top of the country charts so that song could win. It is a personal song for Craig Morgan about the loss of his son so it is worth a listen
That one is on our list, I've added a tally next to it, and welcome to the channel! -Dustin
Real country is a mix of Bluegrass, rock, southern rock, and just about every form of music mixed into relatable story lines.
A band called State of Mine covered it and it ROCKS hard!
You will love Blake Shelton's hit song & video called "Ole Red.". It's a great song & he has several restaurants/bars named after that song! I went to the one in Nashville, TN & loved it! Blake has a lot of fun drinking songs out there & you will like him. He married rock star Gwen Stefani. He met her when they both were on The Voice as a coach. Blake has been on that show since day one & got even more fans off of that show. Can't wait to see you react to more of his songs.
Y’all are gonna be a bigger channel soon, got a feeling. Love the dissections.
He sounds great live.
I believe that. If a show comes through here, I might even buy tix.
Ever since this song first came out the bells in the beginning have always given me subtle AC/DC Hell's Bells vibes. Y'all saying this is a rocker is straight facts. Getcha some Maker's Cask Strength or Maker's 46.
We'll add both of those to our bourbon list. We've both had them, and we both love them.
look up Blake Shelton Gods Country live at the 2019 CMA's
BS,'s The Boys Round Here. Fun tune. He's funny as hell on The Voice
Added a vote for that one -Dustin
Keith: "This is a hell of a rock song!"
I'm dead 😂🤣
, I know who Milli Vanilli is...
Well.... It is!
I'm 72 so I remember millie vannille, but grew up in the Texas Panhandle and remember the sand storms only too well. You would feel the wind pick up a little, then look to the North and see a brown rolling wall of sand headed for you. By noon the sky was so dark the street lights would come on. Nasty stuff for people with breathing problems.
I know what that looks like. I've been in a sand storm. Just not in Texas. - Keith
Just found your channel I'm 56 from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania I'm a rock lover at heart 👍
We're rock fans too. - Keith
Hardy is one hell of a song writer
try some Craig Morgan "almost home" "this ain't nothing " "the Father my son and the Holy Ghost " Blake Shelton "the baby" Kenny Chesney "the good stuff "
Stay tuned :) Kenny is coming up. I've added the other suggestions to the list, keep them coming, and be sure to subscribe and share.
A party song that you might like is “Boys ‘Round Here”. It’s more 🍺 drinkin’ music. ☮️🌼♥️
We'll add that to our list.
Love Blake
Blake Shelton is awesome. He used to be married to Miranda Lambert and now is married to Gwen Stefani. The backup singer if I'm not mistaken is Gwen Sabastian who was a contestant on the Voice. When Blake and Miranda used both used to have her as a backup singer. I think she's completely with Blake now as backup.
A must see (even though you've already heard Chris Stapleton do this song) is the 2015 CMA compilation of Country/Blues of Chris & Justin Timberlake doing Tennessee Whiskey & Drink You Away. Best live performance ever !!!
He did it live on the voice and an award show. It was also really good. Check that one out
We really enjoyed the song. We may check out a live version, but we won't react to the same song twice. Any other suggestions?
The song referenced to within this song where he said "the devil went down to Georgia but he didn't stick around because this is God's country" is The devil went down to Georgia by the Charlie Daniel's band. Yall might like it. And it's neat because it's also referenced to in this song.
I love his song some beach
Buy the way, that was his personal truck he uses at his home in Oklahoma
It is very true rock type country power ballad. Country music covers almost every type of music. Rock, blues, gospel and even rap. Ballads and dance. Make up and break up. It has It all.
Jason Aldean's song Flyover States is awesome! When the Lights Come On, Tonight Looks Good On You, My Kinda Party and Boys Around Here are also great songs!
We've added those to the list, keep the requests coming!
@@BourbonCountryReacts the Boys Around Here song is by Blake Shelton not Jason. 😋
Updated our list with that, thanks!
Late to the party...just found y'all. Just wanted to say I AGREE. I won't even listen to an artist if they can't sing live.
Ps. Blake definitely can 🥰
Blake definitely has a strong rock influence in the instrumentals. I do not think anyone denies that. A lot of boomers had to go from pop to country, because it is the closest thing to pop rock and Rock.
I agree with the millie vanillie. I saw someone else put “Ole Red “. Charlie Daniels band was amazing!
One of his back up singers is from his team from the voice .. they did a duet together .. not sure if that’s her or not but whoever it is has soul honey
You should check out Brantley Gilbert's "Bottoms Up" he's got this same kind of rock mix style
I bet these dudes would dig Brantley Gilbert "Bottoms up" is a good song and so Is "Kick it in the Sticks"
We'll add both of those to our list.
Yessssss
The black and white footage is of the great dust bowels of the 1930's.
You guys don't know Blake!! React to this live at the CMA awards
Austin, The Baby, and Ole Red are older - but three of Blake's very BEST songs. Highly recommended. Hillbilly Bone, Boys Round Here, The Beach, and Honeybee are good for a laugh. Must watch all of the official videos. But he can sing very well live as well. I was front row - and could here him crystal clear.
We'll add those to our list.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Thanks again :)
Hardy is one of the biggest artists in country and he puts out music under rock and country as well 🔥
Hasn't he just collaborated with Blake on a song on Blake's most recent album? Heard the song for the first time a few days ago. May not have details quite right. Just heard it once recently.
Hardy actually wrote this song!
I always thought of this one as a country song grafted onto rock music. Or maybe more accurately 70% rock 30% country.
He walked to close to that rattlesnake tho !! Crazy 😜
🙋♀️ dating myself too!! Millie Vanillie was my first “concert with no adults “…still laugh about that
Think that's his truck..filmed on his ranch in Oklahoma!
the song give me a hells bells mixed with for whom the bell tolls
I also believe some or most of the video was filmed on his farm/land
I find that highly believable. What a great tune.
Blake Shelton lead female backup singer is somebody he coached on The voice. I love God's country but I also love old red which was his first major breakthrough I love Austin I love hillbilly Bone
That was Gwen Sebastian that he coached and had her as a back-up singer, but she isn’t his back-up singer anymore, she sings for Miranda Lambert, his ex wife. Instead he has Kara Britz as the back-up singer (for about 5 years now). She also sings back-up on The Voice.
Btw. my boyfriend is also into rock music and this sounds indeed as a rock song, but some of the hooks and the instruments that are used and Blake’s twang language is pure country.
I think it’s so funny you all keep telling us we like rock. As fans of country we know how diverse it is and know we like our music to rock, who found itself homeless when grunge and hip hop took over.
I love that it found its home in Country which usually comes with a more positive message than the angry stuff that rock turned into. Classic rock was awesome and 80’s rock was fun but in my opinion after that it just got sad and angry.
This is NEW COUNTRY!!
We honestly don't know the difference between new and old country. But I bet you guys are going to teach us.
@@BourbonCountryReacts I don't think this is new country this is actually good the new country is basically pop and it sucks
Country and old rock and roll goes hand to hand! Parties I have gone to all my life! You would hear some OG country, then some Van Halen, to Hank Jr country boys Can survive! Born on the bayou... It all goes together!! Country music has took a couple of turns here lately I don't care for!
Most of the parties I went to were about 90% rock, but you could count on some Hank Jr. and Lynard Skynard making the playlist at some point in the evening. - Keith
One of my favs HARDY wrote this song and 9 other #1 songs in the last year also won songwriter of the year this year... he has his own songs also you guys need to check him out start with (wait in the truck) and you have to do (sold out)
I've seen few reactions to this and y'all only ones who caught the shine reference 😂
There's a group called state of mine who does a metal version of this song totally worth the listen
Yes state of mine does an awesome job on this tune!
Ain’t a Bad day - HARDY
country has rock guitar and even rap and blues.
We've heard a bunch of that. - Keith
Country music especially in the modern era like this song, infuse multiple genres. You are going to hear different infusions in modern country music.
It gives me a Bon Jovi, Dead or Alive vibe.
While I do like that song, I think this one's a little more edgy. But not by much. Might have to give it a few more listens off-channel.
If you want a classic Blake country song, check out "I lived it"
Added a vote for that one -Dustin
Love your reactions & it always makes me laugh how Keith is shocked about country. Lots of 'country' has a southern rock sound, or bluesy sound, or almost a bit of rap, or pop. Bottom line, true artists shouldn't have to fit in a box. Like most country artists, they can make you laugh & they can make you cry. They can make you want to dance, or drink & party, or cry, or make love or even run out & enlist! Toby Keith is awesome at all of these.
Morgan Wallen - Silverado for Sale (Audio Only) goes hard man 🔥
We'll add that to our list and make a note for the audio only version.
lmao at the old comments.. and when you were talking about CDB having the cassette... are ya sure it wasnt an 8track or reel to reel??
Milli Vanilli, lol. I liked them, or the people who sang for them. This is a great song for TilTok off roading videos.
This songs intro gives me 80's power ballad... An ode to White Snake? 😂😂
I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I definitely get what you're saying. Kind of a better, country line on "Here I go Again."
And I say that as a guy that likes Whitesnake.
I just found your channel and have enjoyed watching you guys react to country music. I have 3 songs you should check out
1 dirt road anthem - jason aldean
2 alcohol - brad paisley
3 the fighter - keith urban and carrie underwood
Thanks Andrea, Stay tuned for Dirt Road Anthem, we have that one coming out in a couple of weeks.
Alcohol is on our list, and I've added The Fighter.
We'll add 2 and 3 to our list if they're not already there. Stay tuned for Dirt Road Anthem.
You guys have a lot of work to do. Five finger deathpunch has a ton of videos you guys would love, not only the music but the stories and videos are untouchable.
FFDP isn't country, though.
I listen to just about everything from instrumentals to Metallica. Was mostly fond of rock during grade school through my teens then grunge did a number on rock and it has never been the same. What I love about a lot of current country is that it is heavy on electric guitar, it rocks and it has stood in for a lot of the rock from decades ago.
Oh I agree soooooo much on the grunge comment. So many of my friends love Nirvana. They're the nails on a chalkboard, stare at my shoes and whine, that killed rock.
Joey Moi, who was nickelbacks producer is now in the country music world and works with Morgan wallen and HARDY, check out some HARDY - Boots
We have several requests for that one -Dustin
Rebel 100 is delicious and affordable!! Hank Williams Jr "Country Boy Can Survive" is right up your alley!!
Yes to both. However, we're unlikely to listen to CBCS, because we've both definitely heard it. Lots.
This is one of Blake's better songs/vocals. Mostly I think he is just 'fun' country. One of his older fun songs - "Some Beach" Newer fun "Boys 'round Here" or "I'll Name the Dogs" or you can go old school Blake and do his song "Austin"
Thanks for the suggestions Gia, we had a couple of those on the list, I've added the others.
Chris LeDoux - this cowboy's hat or 5 dillar fine or even cowboys like a little rock and roll.
This cowboy's hat is more of talking with the chorus being sung.
5 dollar fine is just a fun song to listen to
Even cowboys like a little rock and roll is a good song.
Do you guys have a list of bourbon (and the non-bourbons) you have already tried?
State of mine has a great metal cover of this song also
I think you would like a lot of Blake's music. I'm a full fledged metal head and I like Blake's music
We need more requests for his tunes. -Dustin
@@BourbonCountryReacts Ol' Red is one of his first singles. Listen to the lyrics it's hilarious
You guys will like the Zack Brown brand, Little Big lady Antebellum (now just Antebellum ) Those are some quality singers.
Particular tunes from them?
Chris Stapleton’s song Tennessee Whiskey!! Awesome song!
Stay tuned. :)
Gentlemen May I make a suggestion? If you both have not done blues or blues/rock and in particular, Stevie Ray Vaughan and if you have never heard and more interestingly WATCHED him play live then I strongly recommend giving him a look. The man died in 1990 or 91 in a helicopter crash and left many fans heartbroken, but his music still lives on and what live videos he left behind are gifts to people who love good music. He has so many awe inspiring performances and I’ll name off a few that are gems. “ Voodoo Child live from Austin Texas…… Texas flood live from El Mocambo, Mary Had A little Lamb live from Austin Texas…. Hideaway/ Rude Mood live from Montreaux are the few to begin with, but honestly ANY live performance by him is such a great way to start your day. Hope y’all give him a try if you’ve never heard of him.
Some SRV may be new to Dustin, but not me. As a guy that's been trying to learn to play guitar for the past 30 years or so, I definitely know SRV. Texas Flood, Voodoo Chile, and other unbelievable masterpieces. I've studied SRV, Hendrix, Terry Kath (Chicago) and other guitar players from that era note-for-note. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts definitely can appreciate your quest to learn the guitar and you have some great artists to try to emulate or just find inspiration from. I’d love for SRV to make it on your channel. I’d watch that. I’ll throw another artist that grew up also with SRV influenced and that is Joe Bonamassa. The man has his own flavor and I can only tell you that he is worth looking into. Thanks for your response.
@@yotaman2112 Bonamassa is incredible. Definitely familiar with him.
The dust bowl part of the video affected the western third of Kansas, southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma, the northern two-thirds of the Texas Panhandle, and northeastern New Mexico. Those that think they can sell their soul sorry that belongs to God. Check out MERICA Bourbon Whiskey tell me how good it is
Y'all gotta hear State of Mine just rock this song!

As a non native to Oklahoma i didn't understand this song until i moved here.
I did. I think it applies anywhere people have a connection to land.
@@BourbonCountryReacts Its not that i didnt know its that it had never hit me like it does here. I lived in dry ass California for 25 yrs as a transplant. I was just to young to appreciate it then.
You know country has electric guitars not all the time but this is a country song
don't know how you don't knowbut a lot of people who like country music like rock music a lot of country and rock have Blended together for a long time
We hear what I consider "rock guitar" (power chords and blues leads) in a lot of these songs.
Country and blues have always been a very similar just different storytelling and sometimes different instruments but there are a lot of country songs that people think are Blues and some Blue songs that can be considered country just like early Rock like Lynyrd Skynyrd is very country esque
I don’t know if you guys will see this or not but could you guys do Cole Swindell You Should Be Here music video
I always think of WV when I hear this. I’m from Spencer and Almost Heaven is definitely Gods Country. Plus the holy water shine and dogs running…serious hillbilly feels right there.
Spencer! Spencer was on one of my favorite twisty road routes for the bikes or sports cars. - Keith
@@BourbonCountryReacts I graduated 1992 when we won state championship for football back when we were still the Spencer Yellow Jackets. I learned to drive stick on 119 freaking awesome! Taught by my mama who could park a 65 passenger school bus on a dime. I used to commute from Charleston out Corridor G and just loved that feeling getting off I-79 at Clendenin. Roll down the windows and open it up country roads style.
Freaked my Cali guy out the first time I went home and had to explain how the yellow line is just a suggestion in WV. Had to teach him how to “safely” straighten out the road lol. There were a few freak outs over him trying to cut blind turns and some pointing out that the seasons, leaves and headlights are game changers. Good times 🤣
He’s officially an honorary WV’ian now after I caught him yelling and flipping off the TV when someone said Virginia...then were corrected and they said “same thing” lmao! I got a little pang of Pride when he flipped them the bird.
I used to feel the same way about Country Roads as you till I took him home and he proceeded to sing it every single dang day in Cali and took it on as his anthem. It’s that Virginia thing...few people know that it’s more about western VI than WV. The second verse tho really feels like home and it’s kinda become “our song” and is now his official ringtone lol. If not for him tho I’d prolly still feel like you.
We are in NC now and hoping to make it back to Spencer for this Walnut Festival so I can show my guy our little home town shin dig. The band festival was always the best making the parade the bomb. I remember being so sad at all other parades. Ripley 4th of July is super lame by comparison with all the schools out for summer and no marching bands.
Another country song that you will think is a rock song is For You by Keith Urban
I think that one might already be in our backlog. If not, we'll add it.
Blake Shelton Ol Red is one of his earlier hits. Please listen to it.
