Good demo Steve ... thanks! Your 'Masterclass' a couple weeks back has inspired me to look for/at units like this. Over the years I have not derived much joy from the multiple individual pedals I've purchaed!
Good demo Steve. I own 3 Tech 21 fly rigs. 5 v2, RK5v2 , and Paul Landers. I’m looking at this unit as it has the preset option. I found a unique blessing with these when running them into a Strymon Big Sky direct. The Cab Filter feature on the Strymon is the game changer for these units direct. The tone is truly like a real amp. Give it a shot if you have a big sky and prepare to be amazed
I like the rack unit better, foot pedals get dirty and break from being in harms way all the time, while the rack unit can be protected from the dirt, beer, and abuse of the stage! Both can be useful IMO.
I have the rackmount and this seems to be pretty much the same. The main advantage is it's smaller and can be used as a 3-channel pedal on the floor. I got tired of using rack gear with all the cases, cords & footswitches. This is so simple and it does Marshall, Fender & Mesa Boogie tones, as well as bass and other OD, Distortion & Fuzz pedals. It's cool to try it thru different amps, power amps & cabs. More tones than any other analog device I can think of.
Thanks for the demo, Steve. Amazing piece of kit. So versatile.
Sounds totally awesome
steve's great. this is so good. I've been watching as year or so.... love all the cool guitars you have. they're just beautiful....

I’m thinking of purchasing pl1 and stacking it with fly rig v2, thoughts?
Do you stack the different fly rigs?
I have a Two Notes CAB M+ with the Character Series pedals, and the CAB M+ improves them a lot similar to the cab filter likely does on the Big Sky.
Nice playing!
I knew a number of session players using a SansAmp in the 80s.

Great demo!
Are you using your own IR's here? Sounds much better in this review compared to others on the tube.

Hi, great video! Can it be plug through a head rush?
Preset 05 = instant Fates Warning
I thought the same thing!
Is this exactly as the rackmount verrsion? Amp sim tone wise.
according to Tech 21 it is, I haven't seen a good side-by-side or phase null test on it though.

Modelers and plugins are great, especially for recording. But, everyone NEEDS a half stack! (At least)
How well do these take overdrive and fuzz pedals?
