Running the VIENNA CITY MARATHON ( Austria ) - How is it? - Wien Marathon course highlights

Here is a video about running the Vienna City Marathon 2023. I've included all the highlights from the Wien Marathon course as a runner POV. Running a marathon is never easy but when you make it to the finish line the joy and pride makes all the training efforts pay off.
Wien Marathon is a huge event. More than 9000 runners registered for the Sunday races (Marathon, Relay, HalfMarathon) and about 39.000 in total for the entire running weekend (with other running events being held on Saturday (5k, 1k, daily mile ...).
The start of the Vienna City Marathon is near the Danube River and the finish line is on Rathousplatz (Square of the Vienna City Hall). The Vienna City Marathon course takes runner through the city center, passing by some beautiful places: The famous Prater Park, the Vienna State Opera building, The Austrian Parliament, the Schonbrunn Palace, the Museum Quartier, Mariahilferstrasse, ...)
I've been training for the marathon for the last 5 months, hoping for a marathon personal best. It wasn't my best day in Vienna and my final Marathon time (3h21min04sec) was my second best time ever.

The bib numbers pick-up was from Marx Halle. The is a big Marathon Sports Expo where you can buy lots of running gear if needed.
On Saturday I've watched also the 5k race that took place in the Vienna City Center, on the main Ring streets.
On Sunday morning, we've lined up to the Marathon Start, near the Danube. At 9 AM more than 9000 runners started their journey for the 42.195 kilometers full Marathon distance.

hello. I want to run this with my wife. Is ir easy to register like you pay a fee and that is it. Or you need to apply in a difficult manner like in NYC/Boston marathon?

it's a easy process: just register on the website and pay the fee. It's a nice race, great choice. Best of luck!

Congrats! How much elevation is there? Or it is like 95% flat?

Thank you... it's pretty flat all the way. The profile registered on my watch said 100m elevation in total.... I would say most of that is gradual between km 9 to km 18, but you don't really feel it on the course
