I also remember watching this race. The broadcast ended almost immediately after where AE1974's video ends. Then the Shootout feed started. I never knew that ARCA thought there were multiple fatalities in the wreck and that's why there were no replays. I always thought they were just pressed for time and had to switch to NASCAR asap. Haven't seen this in five years! Thanks for posting!
@@crazycars81 to be fair, impact wise, probably much harder of an impact. Considering there were injuries from similar collisions with cars plowing in. The whole wreck is terrifying. probably ignored the 2nd car flipping cause Todd quickly got out & the rest of the pile up was just, brutal.
I remember watching this live being only 8 years old. Couldn't believe how ridiculous it was. I remember telling my parents that it looked like a big crash in NASCAR Thunder. Crazy to think about how we all ripped on the ARCA series for years citing this wreck as a good reason to do so, but now tons of restrictor plate races in the Cup Series look a lot like this.
Because of a previous crash where the catch fence was damaged, they had to cut this race from 80 laps to 65 because the Budweiser Shootout (now Sprint Unlimited) had to start on time.
@nashvilleraidersfan According to records, this race was shortened by a curfew. The race had to end by 7 PM in order to prepare for the pre-race show then the Shootout at 8 PM, so they were on an early exit.
Technically the Goody's Dash Series was part of NASCAR, and it happened there in both the 1999 and 1998 races at Daytona. For the big NASCAR series, Lee Petty''s career ending crash at Daytona might be the most recent. I've never heard or seen a double flip other than that.
@JeffGordon24Dupont Not sure when ARCA saw its last Pontiac, it's mostly old kit in ARCA so could have been more recent. There was still a Pontiac in the NASCAR Candian Tire Series in 2009 (can't remember if it was still being used in 2010 though).
I remember seeing this at 11 years old and thinking someone died in this wreck. Seeing if you would think someone did. It’s amazing nobody did though thankfully!
Lots of Average talent in this field if I remember correctly, Kluever won Jack Roush's Gong Show Race For The Ride and JJ Yeley and David Ragan were just average at best. But this was a wild crashing spree if I remember.
IMO Atlanta 1996 was just as bad if not worse, there were more crashes and a lot more injuries in that one, however that was also a turning point for the series as well.
I remember watching this race vaguely there were like 4 or 5 big incidents one car almost went into the catch fence but it was boring racing single file and crashes that's what the race consisted of
I believe those involved in it were #7 Kyle Krisiloff, #9 Joey Miller, #07 Jeff Spraker, #12 Mario Gosselin, #16 Larry Foyt, #17 AJ Henriksen, #20 Ken Weaver, #25 Billy Venturini, #49 Dan Shaver, #60 Todd Kluever, #75 GR Smith, #78 Doug Reid, and #91 Christi Passmore. 13 cars total.
This is one of the perfect examples of ARCA Brakes. They never slow down in the wreck.
Okay, but where did “ARCA Brakes” come from? ARCA brakes don’t exist.
2005 Arca 200. How no one died is beyond on me.
So True
In any of the crashes
This was 4 years after Dale Earnhardt died so it shouldn't surprise anybody else that all the drivers in this wreck came out alive
@@chancegheno8096yeah but with all the viscous wrecks in that race, including several non drivers being injured, it’s still a miracle no one died
Like the scene in Days of Thunder when he was driving through all the smoke and crashing cars....except nobody made it in this version.

I like how no one cares about the second car flipping over.
Yea because it wasn't as bad as Kleuvers ride

I was there as a 5 year old and did not understand what i was watching. Truly Glad no one died that day
17 cars in total

Clair Zimmermann
Might be the craziest arca race ever. One catch fence crash. 2 flips and a bunch of hard hits.
If I'm not mistaken, Billy Venturini suffered a neck injury in this wreck.
Yeah he did
I agree with the description. There's so much going on that it's hard to comprehend.

The day the term "Arca Brakes" was born
Probably one of the most wildest big ones in the 21st century

0:51 how people play in roblox nascar games:
This entire race was insane. Just absolutely crazy.
0:50 is when the mayhem starts.
@bakinginheat9201 No one died. SPEED ended the coverage immediately after the crash and didn't show any replays because they THOUGHT someone had died.
If I'm correct this was the "Next yellow ends the race" debacle because the Shootout start was being pushed so far back because of all the crashes.

crazy ass accident pissed i missed this race all those years ago but saw highlights

I gotta say that this is the worst big one/crash in NASCAR history.
1960 daytona.
How many cars finished the race? It seems like the whole field of cars wrecked.
This is why I watch arca just as much as nascar
Yes, Motorsports is all the same.
Exactly.

Don't see 2 cars flip in the same wreck that often. Wonder when the last time it ever happened in NASCAR
Jason Roberts 2016, Kenseth and Buescher,
@@AtlanticCoastJoey That was not in the same wreck, same race however.
We were really close in 2017 with AJ Allmendinger and Chase Elliott
I did some "research" and it was in 1975 with Terry Mock and Red Farmer
Same race it was Daniel Hemric and Blaine Perkins at talladega this year
can be the hughest crash ever in arca
@Dalejr88rox Well at this point it's Ralph Shaheen, Dan Pardus, and Kyle Busch
IMO Atlanta 1996 was just as bad if not worse, there were more crashes and a lot more injuries in that one, however that was also a turning point for the series as well.
Mickey Hudspeth lost his hand in a wrekc
Man i forgot how awesome these cars used to sound
LOL SWEET DOUBLE FLIP!!!
2 years after this crash Dan shaver passed away
Dude, just all hell breaks lose. Like I hope everybody is okay, but that was crazy.
iRacing before iRacing
Todd Kleuver - Roush racing Pontiac?

I still can't believe this was 7 years ago...
JCpatriots How do you feel now?
How do you feel now?
Or now?
they might as well not put a brake pedal in arca cars, they arent used
I remember watching this race vaguely there were like 4 or 5 big incidents one car almost went into the catch fence but it was boring racing single file and crashes that's what the race consisted of
@Altamonteric DAN shaver died 2 years later lol
how many cars were involved actually?
@D600Active Yes Pontiac was used in 2010, (and 2011 IIRC, Not 100% sure however)
@drewski31683 which one is billy
@kingofrunescapepking 20, it says at 1:02
Wait is that Kyle Busch announcing?
@nashvilleraidersfan

No one
Nobody died
@nashvilleraidersfan
yeah thats what i thought. thanks for the clarification.
@FanDale88 np, it had me confused at first too. I couldn't think of who it was who was talking, but i knew it sounder familiar
final lap and someone blows their tires and causes a crash
Is this the only footage available??
There is a replay when they interview Billy Venturini ua-cam.com/video/xVO3GQIwHqM/v-deo.html

The longest green flag run in this race was only 6 laps.
