WOW My dad who lived in Australia went snorkelling in the 1990s under the pier where the old slot machines used to be at Redcliffe. He found under the pier around a hundred old Pennys and half Pennys that had fallen between the wooden floor of the pier into the water and laid for many years in the sand way back in the good old days. He passed down the coins to me. I must check the dates on these coins.

I’ve got a container of these that my coin collecting grandmother gave me 30 years ago (last time I looked at them). Might be time I dig them out of storage.
Just wondering were you get Ur pricing from Ive got just about every single 1 of these coins an Ive askd coin dealers an put them on sale on line an they tell me that they woodnt even pay more than 100$ for the lot an they haven't even seen them ? Also if you google the coins it says there not worth much more than there face value ! So can U plz tell me who's rite ?
Occasionally you will come across old pennies in renovations of old houses. It used to be a custom for builders to put a penny under or in the walls of houses they were building.
Watching with interest, I noticed the Canberra Parliament House coin come on display and couldn’t believe the value that registered. I have 2, of the 1927 Coin in my possession, 1 in very good condition and the other in the good condition range. I am wondering what they would be worth in 2027 when they hit the 100 year old age scene. The mind boggles.
None of these have been in circulation for over 57 years. You must either inherit a collection, buy them or find one! These are all pre decimal coins; i.e. prior to 14th February, 1966 when Australia went from £.s.d. to $.c. They were in paper wrapped rolls back in the day.
If your in Australia then you'd be very aware just how many old coins there are laying around just below the soul in old parks and race tracks walking tracks beaches ect 😉
@@andoncroft5154 Yes, this aged great-gran is in Oz. Even beach combing I’ve never found a coin but don’t doubt there’d be some undiscovered where you mentioned. I have a large ice cream container full of pre decimal Aussie coins, including pennies, halfpennies, and farthings. Unfortunately, the notes I had were stolen in a break in. I think that they left the coins because they were too heavy and thought that they had the choicest of my collection. Didn’t steal another container of overseas notes and coins so all the great- grandkids enjoyed looking through them too when they were younger.

I have 5 1925 penny in excellent condition. How do I go about selling them internationally to maximise my best return as I have never done this before?
My dad handed down a full set of Australian pennies and unfortunately as from this year when I was showing my Dad’s collection to someone whom I thought I could trust,he did steal an Obverse and a 1945 KG. The forth page of the collection, first and last penny on the page. Anyway I was appreciating your post thought to show you a snapshot of my collection, less the 1930 penny BUT I do have the 1925 one penny.
Mint marks on Australian pre-decimal coins are usually on the reverse (tails side), and generally at the 6 o'clock position. The main mintmarks are "M", "I" and "H". There are also "S" and "D" mintmarks for Australian silver coinage minted in San Francisco and Denver during WW2. These are generally at about the 3 o'clock position on the reverse. Coins struck at Perth Mint after WW2 use dots and other symbols in assorted places as mintmarks.
Australia went to decimal currency on 14th February 1966. Since then, all pre-decimal currency has been removed from circulation. Therefore, you will not get any of those coins from a bank. You would have to find some that we kept by people from that time. I was nearly 12 years old at the time and have some coins, but I doubt they are as old as the examples you gave.
There are four Australian coins you must have forgot to mention. 1. The 1939 Kangaroo half penny. There were two versions made, the Kangaroo half penny is of a low mintage. 2. The 1946 penny. 3. The 1938 Crown. 4. The 1934/35 Centenary Florin.
