Summer for me is lots of linen, lace-up espadrilles, & panama hats. It's also a great time for aloha shirts & other camp collars, all the shorts (especially high-waisted & shorter than 7"-inseam), graphic tees, baseball caps, neckerchiefs (if cotton great to soak & wear to cool down), & fanny packs (since less jackets/coats). Not to mention lighter-weight jeans/jumpsuits/overalls & boots (also a lot of fun with shorts). Lastly depending on plans swimwear & exercise clothes. Point being with such garments creating a large variety of looks is easy as it is with any other season.
I don't live in London, but even as a frequent visitor, I can tell you you're dead wrong about the weather. In my experience, the trick is to always wear layers. That way, you can easily accommodate whatever the city throws at you. You can genuinely experience 3-4 seasons in a single day in London, which is why you always need to have 3 essential items with you - sunglasses, an umbrella and some kind of outer layer (a sweater or a coat). If you also put on a pair of comfortable closed-toed shoes, you're going to be fine.
Living in Brittany (France) at close to the same Longitude-Latitude as ya'll and layers are key. Way too many times a friend of mine was trapped by the ever changing daily weather here. That's the Atlantic Ocean / Celtiq sea / Channel climate for you : cloudy at 8 am, sunny at 11 am, and pouring rain at 2 pm.
I live in brazil, more specifically são paulo and being a fashion enjoyer is pretty difficult even here where we have some months where the weather cools down. 90% of the time is 25°C or higher and you can't wear any cool jackets or layers without getting really hot, and this is just where i live, in hotter cities like salvador or rio de janeiro the weather is so unbelievably hot that you cant even wear black and/or wear socks.
I live in the US Southeast, specifically in central Florida. My "winter coat" is a hoodie and I've worn it outside of my apartment exactly twice so far this "winter."
I live in Montréal and I have such autumn envy. We have distinct seasons, but the fall and spring are so short. It is either freezing or sweltering here. In January on average it is a good 20 degrees farenheit colder here than New Yorl. I always see people posting beautiful layered outfits from Stockholm, London, New York etc.. but winter here is just survival mode where after 4 months it feels like you are trapped in a puffy coat prison.
The only way to layer that I found (tropical climate) is some kind of Owensian contraption of mesh and uber thin camisoles and tanks in nano layers, and even that is pushing it.
I love Summer clothes, and they get a good wearing here in Sydney. I love cotton, and swimwear. And well cut big white shirts and beautiful lightweight jackets and sandals. Loads of jewellery. Good quality hats! Can't stand that whole winter gazillions of layers thing. I went to New York in winter once and I hated the way everywhere was over heated so you'd have to almost completely strip off to go into a store, then pile it all back on 10 minutes later when you left.
*YOU CAN NOT CONVEY ON SCREEN* the weight, drape and hand [feel] of fabric. I buy a LOT of vintage fabric, I buy it on line and I buy a lot of sh!t. I also buy a LOT of utterly stunning fabric. Even when you have 10 pictures of the fabric and closeups - it has to be in your hand. Now magnify that by a whole outfit. Clothes are dynamic kinetic items you need to see them move and you need to touch them.
In places where it's hot all the time, what is considered clothing is, historically, different than cold places. Insert fabric that gets wrapped in unique ways, 'jewelry' used to cover large portions of the body, etc.
I think one of the biggest reasons I can’t fully immerse in Minnesota culture is our regional style. It’s not bad here, especially in Minneapolis, people spend a lot of money on their outfits and style, but the output is all the same: khaki, denim, flannel, Chelsea boot, fleece, sweater, etc. While individual style definitely exists, I’ve just noticed how boring the majority of people dress here, everyone wanting to blend in to this lumber/tech crossover that I just don’t love
I live in Texas, and with summers getting up to 106-110 degrees Fahrenheit on a routine basis, I’ve had to start focusing on textiles rather than silhouette. It’s like… how much of my wardrobe can be linen or linen blends??? I need that to be close to 90% of my summer clothes just so I don’t feel like I’m going to die when I go outside!
I think your focus on textiles makes sense for the climate, as a Floridian and sewist interested in historical fashion, I've been searching for ways to bring climate and fashion history together and one of my favorite historical dress influences (okbaddiek, Shenanigans Mohlatlole) has pointed out that African historical fashion tends to focus on textile creation and innovation like beading printing weaving, etc. Rather than on manipulating silhouette through layering and pattern cutting, both in a bid to preserve precious fabrics and as a logical outgrowth of creativity when the goal is to stay cool and dry in tropical and subtropical climates.
Just moved back to LA from Portland because I got tired of wearing jeans, docs, and a rain jacket Now I’m in LA in my outdoor Arcteryx shoes / Birkenstocks and all Rick Owens shorts and shirt I won’t be wearing my leather jacket or fur coat anymore… I don’t think people realize how much your location affects your life and lifestyle - the food you eat, the way you feel, weather effected mood patterns, etc… Anyways I’m happy to be back in Cali - as I love summer clothes
i think regional style are super influenced by culture and population more than climate, english people have a lot of regional fabric, london is a huge capital with many cultures historical context and their own creators that will influence the youth. LA people have a specific culture and muses and beauty standards which is really different from other places with the same climate
I love summer clothes! I always half sweat and half cold in winter, too much fabric is going on, god damn puffer that i hate, everything is heavy. When winter lasts for 6 months in april you want to burn half of your wardrobe
I like summer clothes so that one article can speak for itself; I have substantially more patterned clothes for summer than for winter, as those need to layer together
For me Summer and Winter are equally bad for fashion here it gets cold in the winter so mostly you just weare a big coat and some boots, which both are pretty expensive compared to other fashion items, so mostly you don't to many pieces to choose from. Spring or Autum you weare more piece and mix them together and actually show some layering. With a big coat it covers up most of the stuff.
I was very worried about summer when I made my seasonal wardrobes but I ended up liking my styles more than other seasons. But I will say it is exponentially harder to dress for summer because the silhouettes and flow of clothing pieces have to be way more exact. You can't hide things as much with layers (although I do think an element of Layering can help with heat). But also it's soooooo hard to find shorts in specific silhouettes.
I have no problem with so-called summer clothes. They can be styled quite well if one is used to styling and wearing them regularly. Plus, as the season changes, where I live, one can add on to the summer wardrobe and just change the colors to a fall or winter vibe and add on both sweaters and lightweight jackets/coats. I'm usually wearing mixed seasons all at once. Last week, it was 75F/24C where I live within L.A. County, and I was out and about with a mix of both lightweight pieces and also heavier-than-summer pieces. At present, Dec 18, 2023. it's around 68F/20C and I'm still mixing seasons of clothing. Plus the temps fall quite a bit at night and then I throw on my cropped goose down jacket over my summer-layered clothing depending on where I am within L.A. County. I think that different people have different concepts of what summer clothes are. I have plenty of form-fitting summer clothes. The silhouette can stay the same as in other seasons, but just with a change of fabrics; flowing linens, substantial-weight cottons, linen/cotton blends, rayon blends, etc. Greetings from Los Angeles
Yes. I love winter, even though I run cold. I hate summer, I just wear the things that will make me less hot and sweaty. The only thing I love about summer is that I can wear my vintage summer dresses.
When I got brave enough to wear tank tops during summer it made such a huge difference. I rocked a tank top and long shorts with boots or sandals all summer and it was the first time I felt like I could dress well during hot months. Now I have a rayon sheer tee waiting which will probably be the ultimate summer shirt but still looking for some high end tank top to cop its just so hard to find second hand.
I hate summer because the style is so limited by age, style, and comfort. I can really only wear breathable polo shirts and shorts. Layering is really only practical in winter, and that's when you can truly show off your style and acuity.
Don’t mind summer as much now. I wear a bunch of thin silks, linens, and general sheer garments. Granted I do feel as if there a bit of thin privilege during the summer. Hey functional the grandfather clock is really cool. When it comes to rayon I don’t mind as long as it’s tencel or modal.
If it's not insanely hot, but moderately so, let's say around 26-32 Celsius, I love summer dressing so much. I love linen and viscose, oversized and drapey dresses and tunics, I'm really into the flowy, breathable fabrics and the cult leader kaftan vibes ;) Being able to put on a dress and maybe bring an oversized linen shirt is so freeing. Also there are amazing, voluminous pants for summer! I appreciate the freedom I get physically from not having to layer up more and not always worrying about being cold. Living in Germany btw. Mediterranean summers tend to be like that aswell, hot but with a sea breeze, and that in my opinion is great for dressing. My favorite sweet spot is when I can wear a dress with bare legs and western boots at night ;)
Where I live most January days are between -20c and -35c so I’m more concerned with avoiding frost bite than fashion. I have winter gear that is fashionable and I really love, but it’s really the only outfit I get haha. We have a really short fall and the spring is miserably disgusting with the melt and rain. So idk I love the summer haha.
London: it’s not that it’s only sunny a couple of times a year, it’s that the whole of the UK is unpredictable. it’s not unheard of to go to the beach and bring an umbrella because all the weather is happening at once. That said, we do not struggle for summer clothes like people in CA :)
you've quickly become my fave fashion channel, and well just channel in general, fun, informative videos, don't go for too long, very conscise, funny and charistmatic personality, love you dude 😭😭
I live in Wisconsin and I'm actually pissed about having a warm winter this year because I look forward to accessorizing with scarves, gloves, earmuffs, and layering tf out of my outfits. It's interesting to think about how dependent my personal style is on the weather I'm accustomed to. Like to me I don't feel dressed up unless I have a few layers on. Walking out in just a tank top and shorts on a hot summer day makes me feel so out of my element

So much for not moving much during this episode...🤣 Canada Goose in Canada (where I live) is basic need. Honestly kind of prefer the Arcterix - more streamlined design, more interesting silluete, still very warm.
summer clothes are the worst. I thought that in Japan I might find some cool new solutions for summer, but I felt they either wear oversized clothes or just stick to whatever they would wear usually and try to stay in air conditioning as much as possible.
Yo when did fashion shows turn in to a media spectacle? In Copenhagen there's this more than 100 years old department store (Magasin) that have a tiny museum with their history (and sometimes other danish fashion exhibitions). This lovely lady told me how back when they tailored the clothes inhouse, they went to Paris fashion shows, but at that time it was pretty much trade secrets and absolutely no photos was allowed, so after the shows they ran out and made drawings of everything they could remember for "inspiration" lol. funny lil story.. but yeah, when did it change?
I do and I don't. I love linen, my summer wardrobe is 85% linen, linen clothes can be long and still you will not be overheated, but let's face it: layers, nice sweter with nice long woolen coat, boots, stylistically allow you so much more fun and possibilities than just a shirt and trousers/shorts/skirt in the summer.
I haven't heard anyone say brick in NYC. That book looks fun (however I did already know Couregges, Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin ;-D I also lived metalhead and punk.) Rei is crazy in the best possible wway and really after doing a show like that to be asked something that stupid... Props to her for not slapping the crap out of that interviewwer.
I live in SEA Indonesian and it's still hot here, the weather is 36C and I hate that bcs I can't wear layering and jackets, sometimes I don't know what I'm wearing and I think just naked.
My issue with summer clothes is I either look horrible and are slightly less uncomfortable or I look cute and need to stay absolutely inside. I live in layered clothes and if not, I hate myself in gym shorts which as someone who goes fully on the side of comfort there's not a lot of room to include fashion.
i live in the tropics and hate that i can't layer unless going somewhere with ac or when it rains... so it's not just 4seasons peeps. also, global warming.
Honestly the best way to look amazing in the summer is step 1 have a good body. Because a lot of interesting silhouttes are revealing. I don't hate summer, I hate when it's 90 degrees and I'm not allowed to even wear jeans because my leg and crotch starts literally evaporating.
i feel like im looking the best in the summer, mainly due to that fact i grow up in hong kong. its the cold weather in london that limits my options if not my job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :(
summer clothes suck for me because there is more emphasis on the pieces individually instead of the look, because there are less pieces to play with. I also deteste to my highest limit all the "light and airy" pieces with stripes and other things that they like to sell everywhere, if it's supposes to allongate the body I haven't had much success unless a circus tent is what I'm going for (it's not but someone with a better eye and belly could maybe pull it off). And it's damned if you do and damned if you don't, you get to be either a too comfortable little scandal walking around in what will be your next sunburn pattern, or you will stain and stink everything you own. We need to make hand fans more acceptable to the common public.
Def i hate wearing anything on summer, specially these days which is impossible to dress nicely in such high degrees. Im thinking about moving to a colder place Just for the sake of body comfort😮
what do you think about wearing vintage fur? I just bought a tweed coat that came with a removable liner made from about 56 hamsters (yes I did count).
Yes, I hate summer clothes! Options are so limited, you have to be in semi-decent shape to look good in most of it, and it's really difficult to look chic when you're sweating profusely. My summer wardrobe is very basic with boring silhouettes because I can barely stand the feeling of any extra fabric on me in the summer. Also, so many shorts look dorky, sorry 😂
😅 Too much drama? Plenty of cues to take from tropical countries - and women's wear as well. I'm a Dutchy who migrated to the Philippines - you just need to make every single layer choice count. Choose a statement piece if you want to generate headturns and stares.
If I could live in a t-shirt, some shorts and sometimes a hoodie, I'd be happy lol. 15-25 degrees celcius forever baby! I love fashion but IDGAF about all these rules about layering and ish... Being comfy is #1

Love your shirt. Love what you said about trends. Have an amazing Christmas 🎄🎄
My issue with summer clothes is I either look horrible and are slightly less uncomfortable or I look cute and need to stay absolutely inside. I live in layered clothes and if not, I hate myself in gym shorts which as someone who goes fully on the side of comfort there's not a lot of room to include fashion.
this video has perfect timing as i live in australia 🥲
i live in the tropics and hate that i can't layer unless going somewhere with ac or when it rains... so it's not just 4seasons peeps. also, global warming.
Nice Video ! Is the Canada Goose Expedition Parka not way to hot for normal winters in the south ?
Honestly the best way to look amazing in the summer is step 1 have a good body. Because a lot of interesting silhouttes are revealing. I don't hate summer, I hate when it's 90 degrees and I'm not allowed to even wear jeans because my leg and crotch starts literally evaporating.
i love summer clothes because i have an insane amount of slogan tshirts and they dont see the life of day for 80% of the year
i feel like im looking the best in the summer, mainly due to that fact i grow up in hong kong. its the cold weather in london that limits my options if not my job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :(
“ I am an event” hahahaj i love
I have never cracked my summer wardrobe!
Summer clothes are fire.
summer clothes suck for me because there is more emphasis on the pieces individually instead of the look, because there are less pieces to play with.
Yes we say brick still. Older folks tend to say it more often since they had that term longer.
Def i hate wearing anything on summer, specially these days which is impossible to dress nicely in such high degrees. Im thinking about moving to a colder place Just for the sake of body comfort😮
Summer clothes are 👎 also looking forward to more wardrobe tour episodes! Part 2 of pants soon???🥺
what do you think about wearing vintage fur? I just bought a tweed coat that came with a removable liner made from about 56 hamsters (yes I did count).
I actually love my summer clothes. 😂
We still say “brick” when it’s cold, but when it’s extra cold we say “brick city/titty”
Bliss, as far as you’re well-equipped already, are you coming to Berlin Fashion week this February? 😳
I wish! Not this time, but we’ll hopefully be back in Berlin soon. I’m excited 💫💫
Canada Goose is very much a thing in London. it’s almost gone too far the other way tbh
I have a friend in Manchester and he feels like half the population have a fake Canada Goose lol.
Dude you need to go to London more often 😂
8:14 Anime openings be like
Winter clothes feel like armor
I live in Singapore, I ONLY have summer clothes
😅 Too much drama? Plenty of cues to take from tropical countries - and women's wear as well. I'm a Dutchy who migrated to the Philippines - you just need to make every single layer choice count. Choose a statement piece if you want to generate headturns and stares.
Bliss the best
wow my question got answered
i’ll be honest i was just trying to come up with anything
this feels like that aloe blac im the man meme
You are the man, Kyrectx2 😌
Stone Island has a very technical dye process, like their stuff but too expensive.
I live in LA, and it's generally depressing to watch people walk around in Lululemon and "athleisure" wear 😮💨
Your videos are just awesome.
Thank you so much, homie 💫💫
people 100% still say brick in new york, sometimes too much. But it’s made brick out rn so….
If I could live in a t-shirt, some shorts and sometimes a hoodie, I'd be happy lol. 15-25 degrees celcius forever baby!
I love fashion but IDGAF about all these rules about layering and ish... Being comfy is #1
I hate summer clothes because I have an ugly body. It's a simple and valid reason for wanting to cover up.
You better believe we still say brick when it's brick af out
I love Jonathan Anderson too plus he so fine lmao
Hi Bliss 🙋🏻♂️
ok but where is the clip video of bliss tossing his phone on the couch 100 different ways
fashion brings me joy but i’m the happiest in summer so idc
Gonna have hop back on the discord
We’d love to see you back there, homie 💫💫
10:13 that one guy who agrees 😬
Hey Bliss is that shirt waxed? Great f winter!
It’s linen with some coating on it, might be wax! 💫💫
@@BlissFoster it’s more likely a glaze, how do those buttons fare in the wash? If you do wash the shirt you probably wax the buttons after, mink oil would do it. Points!
Bliiiiiiiiis!
Forget the clothes..it's the damn bugs and tornados😳😱🐝🐜🪲🕷🪳🕸⚡️🌪🔥 spring n fall only good seasons imo👌 if your only problem is your clothes--- Your doing great😊
How did you come up with this title??? Sooo true 😅
Yeah shorts and t shirts and if you’re not overlooked. Buff.
