      Er, I've seen older toys with more articulation, and contemporary art toys with features like a bicep that curls up as you bend the arm, or silicon covers. Not to say that they're not highly articulated, but they aren't what I'd call innovative.

    • @ClokworkGremlin
      @ClokworkGremlin 4 роки тому +3

      They do that a lot. They had a 30 minute video several years ago about a guy with a personal flying suit and they showed less than 60 seconds of the suit flying. It's like the ultimate way to blueball your audience.

      @@stuffedsomething1699 I would love it if you could provide some examples of these older toys with more articulation! 1000Toys has long been lauded for their innovative joint designs, so evidence of the contrary would be very useful. Articulation is the biggest drawcard for me when choosing figures for my collection. I haven't seen _any_ examples of figures in 1/12 scale that have the amount of articulation that the synthetic human does for a comparable price.

      Personally, I'm not a fan of having a bunch of rivets and sections in a figure, as it ruins the aesthetic for me, so I actually prefer 5 point articulation. Some of it is nostalgia for a lot of the figures I had growing up (even though we also had the Joe's and Battlestar figures, etc., which had more articulation), but most of it is just that I prefer the look of them, as they're not broken up by visible joints everywhere. Just my own taste, obviously. I know I'm probably in the minority.

    • @Mentocthemindtaker
      @Mentocthemindtaker 4 роки тому +1

      @@thewheelies6801 Not the minority. For many collectors it's about achieving a balance between articulation and visible jointing. Some manufacturers are getting really good at covering up joints, or creating clever sculpts that blend the joints with the rest of the sculpt. For me, though, robots and figures like the synthetic don't suffer from having visible joints and, in some cases, the visible jointing can actual enhance the robot's aesthetic.

    Tsutomu Nihei's Blame was the darkest, bleakest cyberpunk story I ever read. It always felt like an Alice in Wonderland but super dark. It's as though his world was turned upside down and tries to climb out of this madness pit he was dumped into.

      The human body wasn't "built" and nobody thinks it is the shape it is because of coincidence. It took hundreds of millions of years for the human body to get into the shape it is in; a bit more effort than toy engineers.

      They could sell skins for 12 inch figures and I'd be a customer for years.

    Love the Master Chief but they messed up on the chin big time. The thin legs are ehh depending on your taste but the chin is just not Master Chief.

    Look a “chino” wich is not a men with curly hair , is how normally if not knowing the ethnicity of an Asian citizen we called in Mexico, the “funny” twist is that as I said before it is word used to described the texture of the hair, so I would be a “china” even if there is not a single drop of Chinese heritage on my family or in my living body. Oh an interesting video by the way.

    I'm not really seeing what's so "Genius" about these... I'm not seeing anything that's new in toys, other than the Hand of doom on Hellboy having pose-able fingers. The real difference is seeming to be that they actually landed the advertisement to get this one off the ground where others just never got much recognition or companies that made them lost interest due to cost.
