    I appreciate that you explain why you, for example, connect the first boat and its shadow. You are teaching me to think as I paint, to remember the process. Your thoughts at the end about not starting with the sky this time, your mentioning the colors as you mix them and what each brings to the painting, it is all so helpful. Not many instructors are teaching us how to think and feel our way along. Thank you.

    Hi Andrew. I really enjoy watching your boat scenes. I just completed a tall ship scene a week ago for a friend, as a present for his 60th birthday. The fun part was painting the many billowing sails and the rigging. I only used the pure colour approach, and I think I succeeded.

    I like your method of creating a painting, from a brief drawing. Working from photographs, increasingly seems like a bit of a cul de sac, for me anyway. Painting on location is a nice idea, but only for the hardy and determined.

    • @AndrewPittArtist

      Glad it was helpful. For inexperienced painters using photographs the main danger is they end up with a painting OF a photo instead of a place.

      I'd not heard of him until I heard you mention him in your dvd (I was new to painting and your dvd was a godsend it exlained so much, it was invaluable) he quickly became one of my favourites and I now own 3 books on him including "my corner of the field' an amazing artist like yourself.

    Hello Andrew do you have a reference photograph you worked from to create this painting? Or could you suggest a good place to look to get reference images? I know it’s ideal to work from your own images but sometimes this doesn’t work out!Thank you kindly,
    Isabelle.

      This watercolour was painted from the sketch. I am familiar with the scene and have painted similar views en plein air. I thoroughly recommend using your own photos or better still, a sketch from your photo. www.andrewpitt.co.uk

    Where can we purchase saunders 200lb rough?

    • @AndrewPittArtist
      @AndrewPittArtist  9 місяців тому

      Saunders Waterford 200 lb Rough paper shouldn’t be difficult to find. It is readily available in the UK and, as far as I know, in the US. Most good art stores stock the paper, either in sheets or in pads.
