    Great tips, great attitude. Judo and Jiu-Jitsu complement each other very well and are complete martial arts when the self-defence elements are also taught.

    This was the of the best videos of bridging both styles into one. I am one of the few judoka from black belt hall of famer and olympian pat burris school usa stars to receive black in judo and jiu jitsu. This is our style from 80s and 90s. It takes time to get adapted too but this video will help any competitor. Good video

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu looks just like Judo, because it is Basically Just Judo. When Mitsuyo Maeda, a.k.a. "Conde Koma", began teaching Carlos Gracie in Belem do Para, Brazil in 1917, he was teaching Jigoro Kano's Jiu-Jitsu direct from the Kodokan in Japan. The name "Judo" was not popularized until 1925.
    Mitsuyo Maeda was a Kodokan Judo instructor whose specialty was ground fighting (newaza). This type of ground-only fighting is often referred to as Kosen Judo, or High School Judo, because it was popularized in Japanese High Schools as a form of interscholastic wrestling. Kosen Judo rules allowed direct transition to newaza, enabling scenarios where one less skilled competitor could drag the other down to the ground (a tactic now known as "pulling-guard" in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).

      Francisco Aglairton Exactly and these brain washed new MMA fans lack such fundamental knowledge. The Brazilians are profiting off a standard form of grappling. Smart moves no doubt.

      Maeda also mixed catch as catch can techniques and helio added some others and now every week someone adds a new technique in bjj. Its an ever evolving art.

      IJF judo is very different, Brazilian Judo is closer to traditional Judo from 100 years ago than the Olympic rules where many Judo throws are illegal.

      BJJ = Kosen Judo = High School Judo = soft grappling for kids in between their morning classes and their lunch break

    I'm a judo black belt and a white in bjj. my training partner is a black in bjj and a white in judo the his bjj helps me and my judo helps him and we take turns training at each other's club. it's amazing how two combat sports have made two close friends. That's what I love about Bjj and Judo

      Paul Taylor true. Theyre pretty much the same sports with different rules, therefore different styles and focuses.

      Under which rules? Judo they shido you and you lose

    • @user-vc6
      @user-vc6 5 місяців тому

      If they sit down you pass the guard and submit them. A throw is only 2 points and your getting top position free- a bjj tournament Is too find out who’s better at ground grappling so they allow skipping takedowns vs judo tournament where who’s better at throws .. adcc and submission grappling will have more emphasis on takedowns but have all submissions stuff
