My dad was born in 1933 on a 360+ acre farm with a pond & a river. They had a johnboat & paddles. I remember cane fishing poles. The only rod & reel I ever remember my dad having was a very short rod with something like a zebco 33 reel. I believe this was because the short rod made it much easier to use while fishing the river, especially from the johnboat. The river wasn’t very wide & had lots of overhanging branches. The short rod meant less chance of “squirrel fishing”. 😂

That's COOL. Sometimes simple is better and brings back memories, of the old "Pocket Fisherman." My Bride and I have a couple, really short rigs and a few telescopic rigs that we keep with us when e travel. You never know when you'll drive by a little piece of water and feel the urge to wet a hook. Great video and thanks for sharing.

Kink up the line and later break on bigger fish. But yes try them on crappie. Cats would be wild. Or just on anything that bites. Lol God bless you both and baby C also.....🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀

He'd keep it in his truck all the time and pull it out when we were on our way some where. He caught a lot of fish on that small pole. Cole,
Keep about ten of those small ‘Gills and fillet them. Get a pot of water with a little Salt boiling. Drop the fillets, about ten, in and boil them for three minutes.
If you boil them longer they start coming apart. Scoop them out and let them cool. Put them in the fridge and cool them down. Dip them in Cocktail Sauce and eat them like Shrimp.
