I 100 percent agree with Kurt about stipulating that the contestants actually have home gyms. Otherwise it’s just another competition. And if you’re putting up enough prize money, athletes will travel to different facilities to train on specific pieces of equipment to get ready. Powerlifters do that now for much less money than you guys were suggesting. I think keeping it to mystery events highlights the fact that a lot of us train to be able to handle unexpected life events so a comp with all mystery events that each target one of the fundamental human movements would show who actually is prepared for anything.
What a great group of people who all support an amazing community of people. Love seeing even greater developments that are rewarding to those who are invested, but still open to the person starting day 1 on their journey
I personally agree with Kurt. I think the winner of the “Home gym games” should absolutely have to have some kind of a garage/home gym. That just seems like common sense to me personally.
I really like the idea of using only equipment you would find in a garage/home gym. For instance, a sled pull/push into farmers carry’s with adjustable dumbbells for time could be one of the strongman “style” events. Or a landmine squat and press. I think it’s important that the events resemble workouts done in a home gym. I feel like that’s the whole point of this event. Otherwise, it’s just CrossFit.

Great discussion! A lot of good ideas percolating.

Sorry I had to miss it!
I’m looking forward to the Basement Gym Games with an overhead press under a 7 foot ceiling event
