She is one of those voices that when used in songs she was not originally part of, said song is exponentially superior to the original; even if said song was amazing to begin with. Ninet is a GEM!!!

@@andrewjones7699 - Steve’s musical genius stands all on its own. I am always rather perplexed when I sign up for one particular talent… and I get another. Like having to take Yoko Ono in order to have John Lennon. Or, if you want David Gilmour…you have to take his wife, Polly Samson! What is this nonsense? I’m a journalist…and if I turned over the creative process to my wife…I’d lose my career the next day.
I suspect what’s really going on is that Wilson is farming out some of the work to others, while he keeps himself busy remixing and doing just about EVERYTHING ELSE in the world of technology. He is an amazing human being.
I would love to one day share a dinner with him and have a long talk about music. Ninet Tayeb? No thanks!

Do they think they’re going to get better HERE among strangers? I didn’t come here for these people…I came here for Wilson’s music…then I get THIS GUY?
Here’s some advice: SERIOUSLY…find a community of friends. People that care about you. Mostly, CARE about yourself so that you’re worthy of being loved by others. Right now you’re just rehearsing your dilemma. A vicious cycle of “ME! ME! ME!”

    So Pariah, you'll begin again
    Take comfort from me

CHORDS: A while ago I started to play this wonderful song with the guitar and I think the chords are these, but I'm not sure that the "E" chord in quotes is correct, but I have not been able to find out ... I'm sorry.
      A
      I'm tired of weakness
      F#m
Tired of my feet of clay
      E
I'm tired of days to come
      D
      I'm tired of yesterday
      A
      And all the worn-out
      F#m
      Things that I ever said
      E
      Now it's much too late
      D Dm
The words stay in my head
      E F#m
So the day will begin again
      C#m
      Take comfort from me
      D
      It's up to you now
      E
      You're still here and
      F#m
      You'll dig in again
      C#m
      That's comfort to you
      D
      It's up to you now
      E F#m
      So Pariah, you'll begin again
      C#m
      Take comfort from me
      G F#m E
And I will take comfort from you
      I'm tired of Facebook
      Tired of my failing health
      I'm tired of everyone
      And that includes myself
      Well being alone now
      It doesn't bother me
But not knowing if you are
Well that's been Hell, you see
So the day will begin again
      Take comfort from me
      It's up to you now
      You're still here and
      You'll dig in again
      That's comfort to you
      It's up to you now
      So Pariah, you'll begin again
      Take comfort from me
      It will take time
      Don't you worry
      Don't worry about a thing
      'cause nothing really dies
      Nothing really ends.

I'd heard Steven say he wanted to try to be more experimental in his work. I think this video is an example of him trying something new that he's never done, pushing the boundaries of comfort with himself. He's usually a reserved person so having his face (and Nenit's) be the central focus of the video is really something new for him. Aside I think it draws focus to the humanity of the "characters," considering this is part of a larger narrative.

Splendid work with the video... Perfectly complements the song.
From starting the video is like journey through a dark, gloomy tunnel. But from the moment Ninet goes full on, it's like bursting through your pain, sorrow and grief to some ray of hope... Things finally start turning for good. The moment you break off all the shackles and decide enough is enough ! It's time I take things upon myself !

Everything he puts out is so profound yet he seems to avoid the pretentious trap because his songs' lyrically, musically and visually, are true to our human experience. To everyone crapping on the video because of its dissimilarity to the past few stop animation videos, you're obvious unfamiliar with Steven's earlier videos / Porcupine Tree's videos. This is directed by Lasse Hoile and it has the feel of his work deeply. To me this video is excellent, it reminds me of that grungy dark feel that I first saw with Deadwing back in 2005. Lasse conveys this feeling so well in his films.

Porcupine Tree meets Blackfield. Wilson has always had pop sensibilities. This album looks like it's gonna be his pitch for the big time - hence the tie up with Universal.

    • @Elektr0hazard
      @Elektr0hazard 7 років тому +11

Porcupine Tree was, in a lot of ways, metal. This is not. I think the difference lays mostly on that. And in Richard Barbieri, of course. He gives Porcupine that sort of twisted darkened ambience that vibrates so deep inside the mind.
