I recently went through cost of bringing my wife back to Australia. Given my multiple trips and tourist visa then partner visa . I spent aproximatley $25,000 . The partner visa alone 10 years ago was $8,000. I hate to think what it is now. Australia increases the visa price regularly. So if you down the road I went be prepared. Why do guys fall for bar girls? Loneliness, depression, a feeling of rejection, a messy divorce, mental health issues, the list goes on and on. Many guys do not go into bars to find love it just happens. They find they are in the company of a pretty, young girl who seems to take an interest in them which gives them a feeling of temporary happiness. I also think because the bar-girls are charming, cunning and good at what they do, it is so, so easy for these kinds of guys to be sucked into a situation they did not plan.

Good stories Peter. There are similar scams with the money changers in the Philippines. I once went to exchange 50 euro to pesos. 50 euro in 2005 was about 3100pesos.i handed the money to the women. She counted 3100 and gave it to me. Later that night when I was in a bar I realised she only gave me half - - 1500 pesos!!! I was furious! Always watch your money when you go on holiday.
Hi peter,1st time making a comment if I get it to work,did u hear about the 2 Irishmen who missed their flights one going over (not me)and one going back,thought I was robbed by my friends girlfriend (wasn't they put my jewelry in my bag would have been nice if they told me)so when I ran down the up upstairs escalator to find her and couldn't I returned to the check in showing where you go through security checks, alas they didn't let me on(I can see their point)8 days later returned to airport to catch me flight and was refused as they said I was drunk (wasnt and they called me by official name mr Buckley)they said they would do me a favour and let me on the same flight tomorrow if I didn't have drink on me which I didn't have that day,back to pattaya and that night I found out I was nearly out of cash,love ,no phone charger no clothes and bacacily no cash was so happy to get on the flight home,they even sat me by the air hostesses to keep an eye on me,this all for a man who thought he got robbed and never in trouble, good days looking back ,scary at the time,I cant wait to get back again, love your show,derek buckley

Im not gonna lie that one guy was particuarly gullible thats for sure. He had all the warnings ahead of time and the first thing he does even on his holiday is give out big sums of money. I said, 4000 to 8,000 on a night out, I did not say “I drink that amount” A nice meal in a good hotel can cost 1,500 Baht, I give a lot of tips and buy a lot of drinks; as I said, “I want to enjoy ,myself and not worry about money” and it is not every night, if I am good, I can do as low as 2,000 Baht. Not everyone on a night out in Bangkok is on a cheap Carlie budget
@@ThailandBound Ok, there is some cultural problem. When you said that you go out for drinking, I understood that you go out just for drinking. Anyway, the problem with countries where you need to use cash is that you have to have a lot of small money with you. 1000 is small when you spend 4000 at one place but if you want to do bar hopping, then you need a lot of smaller ones.
No that's fine I understand but to give you another example if you go to a decent Thai nightclub with friends and you order a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label with mixers which is normal in Thailand and the bill for that one order would be anywhere from 2500 3500 baht not forgetting snacks of food which is also normal when out in Thailand, tips and everything else. I wasn't saying I spend that amount of money on every night out I'm just saying that if I want to have that as an option I don't want to be worried about money
Great vlog Peter really interesting. The serpent is amazing watched it back to back on the Iplayer a few weeks ago. He was brutal and your right what happen at the end is so strange. I want to read the book about him. I remember once going the the local Tops market for some food and bits. As I didn't know too much then I picked up a Bangkok post and my food went to the till and paid the cashier handed the paper back to me and smiled. I just paid and left. The next day I was back and looked at the news stand area and thought I will get another paper, I then saw people paying at the stand I just went so red !!!!!! the young lady there saw me and I said do we pay for papers here .. She laughed and said yes . I was said sorry she just said Mi Pen Ri. I picked up another paper and paid for both. On the way out got her some Green Tea to say sorry. She was so happy with that. the next day I in and she saved me a paper !!!!!

Yes that with 1000 bath happens 2 times for me to, it was in Samui in green mango. First time they give me back on a 500 bath. Next time I say clearly this is a 1000 bath and they change staff and get me back in 500 again. So the thing is I’m very careful to pay with 1000 bath if I have a bill on let’s say 200-300 b. It was no idea to argue about it but they loose me like customer and try to say that all my friend I now down there that time. This was many years ago.
I guess I have been lucky Richard as I say, never happened to me but then I do most of my drinking in Nana and cowboy with the odd night on Soi 22 or Soi 11.

I have dated young beautiful women on 4 continents and I can tell you women try pulling the same scams and tricks all over the world. Be firm but polite to any demand and your first response is always “No” for anything. Make her earn it so she gets accustomed to hearing “No”. She might sulk and pout but you must be firm. If she persists after you tell her no then remove your attention and affection. She will catch on, if she doesn’t then block her contact efforts. As a man you have to balance getting played by a bad girl and losing a good girl because you are being too defensive. As a result of this strategy I now have a long list of young hotties willing and waiting on my return. If you have any humanity in you its hard to not feel bad for how poor people are in most places around the world. A little pocket money from you is a fortune to them and 90 percent of the time it results in genuine enthusiastic bedroom aerobics.

about handsome man...the first time i indirectly encountered ( observed ) this behavour it took me a while to come to a solution....finally i thought their beauty ideal in terms of westerners are a mix of old fat sick alcoholic and dirty...similar to some south pacific islands where superfat is beautifull...many many years ago i saw a guy who meet above description ( a mix of all and more ) walking 50 m in front of me passing a bar....a swarm of stunning looking ladys swarmed out and tried to drag this " handsome man" into their premisses...he resisted but was obviously flattered ...next it was my term to pass this spot where the unbelievable just happened literally in front of my eyes...me beeing the very opposite of that guy start worrying and thought intensivly how i can get rid of these ladys without beeing rude...to my uttermost surprise and relieve the ladys had a short look and did not move an eyebrow once i passed the bar so to say i was met with total ignorance.... even I would have enjoyed a small chit chat w. them about their " hansome man" obsession and about beauty values of thai women...
