Compared to everyone’s he just had more technical problems and the judges just really beat him up for the no outlines because then it would fade away and just look messy or sumn
She’s so arrogant, instead of focusing on the canvas back creases that made some of the owls lines disconnect, she should take the time to worry about the deep wrinkles on her face that make her look 20 yrs older than she actually is
Worst Coverups shows a thumbnail of one of the most gorgeous looking Leopards on ink master, I mean the eyes are such a beautiful blue that it has depth?
I really loved Kevin's tattoo without the outlines and glad he wasn't sent home because of it. It makes it look even more clean and detailed. As far as Janelle, that leopard was so cute. I'd definitely wear something like that. I didn't like the color platte that Holly chose. Those colors just didn't mix for me.
Mikes Dog is gorgeous, I think the only thing he needs improvement on is small details but apart from that he didn’t deserve to be in the bottom three.
5:19 "Towers are way off. The right side of the castle's taking a left." ...Have they never seen a castle drawn that way before? I thought it was a commonly seen style, that exaggerated inward slant of a castle from a bug's-eye view. I know I've seen it in media where the castle's supposed to look ominous and intimidating. I think it works well here; gives the tattoo more depth.
The issue wasn’t that she tried to use perspective, it was that she did it poorly. The right pillar is tilted too far to the left for the perspective that the viewer has of the castle.
Even with a "wonky" style of showing building like that there are still perspective rules that need to be followed and she just didn't. Even for a bug/fish eye perspective there are rules that make it look realistic and she completely missed the mark. Non artist may not notice this but as an artist for many years and especially perspective artist you can see at first glance that her buildings were just not good.
I'm sorry but I'll have to disagree with you. If she had both castle sides taking a left, it'd be better, but still pretty bad. Her perspectives really poor, and its basics for drawing
The lines do converge to a single point. I measured with a ruler. so technically, perspective is not off. What is wrong is that the the convergence point is not at the center of the image. It is above the left tower. One need to stare at the right tower peak to feel natural about this image.
Janelle's leopard was a little stronger than Holly's in my opinion. As an artist, I can tell you one of the first color combos you learn to avoid is red and purple. There are obviously ways to make them work together, but the fact that that owl had the same toned red and purple packed next to each other made it look not only low in contrast, but tonal as well. This, in my opinion, made it harder to detect that the design was an owl. While her lines were stronger, her color scheme was a little less legible and striking than Janelle's, and I think that should've been pointed out, and taken into consideration in the elimination process. But the two did their best, and I still commend them and their talent for covering up the old work!
It won’t hold well in the long run. The application is 100x better than Boneface’s vile ‘surfer’ with the fucked up arm and fully visible original tat tho😂😂😂
@@esmin2400 yeah, I feel like they definitely didn't take all aspects into it. I'd much rather have a gorgeous tattoo I'll have to touch up in a few years than one I will immediately need to laser and cover up (which will cost as much as the upkeep of the much better tattoo).
It will fade much faster but so do all tattoos with colour. Outline or not the colours inside the outline fade, so judging a tattoo on that when it's common and stylistic is unfair.
Would definitely wear the realistic roses & skull and the jaguar tattoo, considering they're free! I understand maintenance may be an issue but I'd rather have it retouched in a few years than having a permanent ugly coverup. That's just me though.

Yeah, it looked amazing and everything, but according to the judges, you can't do only one of the requirements. I think the challenge was to do contrast or something and the contestants had to do that with the opaque grey and not having so much black. Though Mike successfully covered it up, it didn't meet the standards for that challenge. But still.... Gotta give the man credit for the cover-up AND the canvas liking it
Janelle took it so well, better then I’ve ever seen. That jaguar was beautiful, if anything the owl should’ve been eliminated. Nikki has proven over all of her seasons that once she decides she doesn’t like someone, she has to destroy them and their accomplishments. I love her, but these girl deserved better.

it'll look a lot better once it healed up properly. the black would turn grey and make it look softer, so the intense black wasn't all that bad, plus it was still easy to read and know what it is.

The girl with the purple hair in the end really put me off, you can be critical without shouting over everyone and trying to be the meanest. Like I get its a tough industry and a tough show but c'mon
It’s really old fashioned and lame for them to put someone in the bottom 3 for not doing outlines :| plenty of artists don’t do outlines and the tattoos hold up well
I still think they should have sent Maddie home first instead of Frank that season. She never got any better and almost all of her work was in the bottom every week until she was cut.

That jaguar is great imo. It cover up the old tattoo well and even though there are flaw I would be happy with that on my body, its dope. There are so many worse one they should have pick.
I don't know anything about tattoos, but I gotta ask how was Mike expected to cover up a black tattoo with other colors? Maybe some shading, but the dog was a great idea, sentimental to the canvas, and it didn't look bad.
If the canvas genuinely loves the tattoo, especially when it comes to a coverup, that should count. Like if the judges can tell that yeah the tattoo is still clearly showig through, it should be judged for that, but also count it in if the canvas loves the work.
Always had a problem with the time constricting. You can't judge rushed art. This does not show them at 100% because they are not timed in their own shop. It's such a werid choice to time it. But that's just my opinion.

Kevin Laroy's tattoo is stunning. I'm thankful to learn about the importance of outlines on realism as it makes me rethink the next and most important tat I want.

i think the roses with the skull is absolutely beautiful. he's right, i think, that outlines wouldn't make any sense there, that would take away a lot from the realism
They’re getting a free tattoo from artists that are (usually) talented it really wouldn’t take that much convincing for someone to go on the show especially when you consider how expensive tattoos can be with the details these people demand
I’m a bit lost on how they came to the conclusion that a realistic tattoo needs an outline. From an artistic standpoint that would kinda defeats the whole purpose. Sure it’s not gonna look as good in 10 years but it’s still gonna be a great tattoo regardless so why ruin the thing with lines?

Yeah I don't hate Maddie's. The dragon is nice it's just the towers I didn't care for. And Mike was so screwed over. Lalo's samurai and Tray's dragon was 10x worse to me.
The skull and roses one looks actually really really good holy damn
yeah they did him dirty
I think they chose him to go home bc the tattoo wouldn't heal well bc it's just the color and no outline. I also like it but it would probobly fade away after some time
im so glad other ppl think so… i was like… wtf his is beautiful
@@johnnykarate57 I want to see what it looks like in 10 to 15 years. I just covered up a 34 year tattoo the other day. Color was almost completely gone and the only thing left of it was the outline and black shading. Hint of color was all that was left of it. I didn't realize it was that bad until I saw the before pic my artist took before putting the stencil on.
That tattoo was beautiful
The dog doesn’t look bad at all
Yeah neither did the first one..
Exactly. When this came out, I had already know him and have been tattooed at the shop he was at a dozen or so times. He did a nice, big, solid memorial piece for my dad about ten years ago now too. Still looks great. He wasn't treated fairly on this show tbh and that was a common opinion around the area. I think his lack of wild personality and controversy was a part of it. He didn't deserve to go down on episode 2 when seeing the tattoos he was up against.
I didn't think it was bad either. I actually really liked the doggy tattoo and Lalo's
I agree. But i understand what the judges are saying.
@@cheyennegentry438 what?? Omgoodness lalo’s was god awful!! 😂
Regardless of what the judges say, the client's opinion of their tat is the most important thing.
Am i the only one who has no clue how Kevin’s skull was considered bottom 2?? Ik there were no outlines but that rose was practically photo real. Like legitimately photo realistic.
Compared to everyone’s he just had more technical problems and the judges just really beat him up for the no outlines because then it would fade away and just look messy or sumn
A lot of “photo realistic” style tattoos with no outlines age really poorly, they just sort of become a blob of color overtime.
@@artisanaltoast9085 they are good for the repeat business providing lifetime touch ups. ;)
Nicky needs to get off her high-horse. The last two cover-ups we're really well done.

Whoever edits the show absolutely loves that awful “intense moment” sound effect. Can be so unbearable and take you out of the show.
It's in Beyond Scared Straight and other shows. Annoying, as bad as the Wilhelm these days.
They also use the exact same sounds in Kitchen Nightmares. It's so over the top I just can't take it serious
Same with Gordon Ramsey shows it’s funny hearing the effects when I least expect it
Lmao I didn’t even noticed it but now that you mentioned it it’s like every 10 seconds Hahahah
They use it in Bar rescue all the time, I hate it.
The skull and rose realism one is stunning. I know no outlines blah blah but it is a masterpiece
No, the perspective is wrong.
Yea I agree, Janelle did amazing
I hated the colors on that owl. Like a bad 90s Halloween decoration
I agree, her leopard didn't look anywhere near as unappealing as the owl.
How does Franks baboon tattoo look 15 years old already?
That’s a plus to me. I think they’ll be able to cover/rework/redo fairly soon.
Idk maybe it's my lack of tattoo knowledge but I feel like Kevin should not have gone up just bc he didn't have outlines 🤨
I think they take into account longevity of the tattoo that’s why
Janelle shouldn’t have gone home. Her tattoo looked nice
Omg I love your pfp
Would definitely wear the realistic roses & skull and the jaguar tattoo, considering they're free! I understand maintenance may be an issue but I'd rather have it retouched in a few years than having a permanent ugly coverup. That's just me though.

legit lost all respect for these judges when they ripped into the skull and roses. what photorealistic image should have _outlines_ ?? on top of that the tattoo looks amazing, putting him in bottom just because of outlines is unreal
Did you even watch the video? The colour is going to bleed in a few years
@@oz_jones no they’re hypocrites, in a later season they were mad that a realistic tattoo had outlines lol
I feel so bad for the castle and dragon cover up. His skin is sooo red and inflamed I can’t imagine how that must feel! The ink is so dark you can tell her needles absolutely chewed up his leg.
the skull and roses, and the pit bull weren’t bad at all
Skull and roses looked great, but the judges issue was how it would fade without outline and it’s hard to know in advance
That rose and skull were gorgeous, shouldn’t have been judged as they were, an outline can be easily added at any time
Mikes dog was awesome and it completed the cover up challenge, he got eliminated unjustly
It's hard to take Chris Nunez seriously after i saw the tattoos he does on his insta
The dude is full of himself. He eliminates people because HE doesn't like the tattoo. I can't stand any of the judges except Dave.
@UClNR4wc8-DV4pYHpejoOWiw hahaha. Can't go wrong with that. He does do that a lot and it is kind of hard to take a guy seriously talking about what looks masculine on someone who is wearing eyeliner.

Human Canvas Jury acting like they know what they're talking about
It was a terrible concept from the start
It’s not a bad concept, sometimes the judges have favorites so it’s good to have outside opinion and also opinion of people with different criteria for judging. Which is often more about weather the artist did as was asked which is important but which they judges often don’t care about, or think about how visible things are like with the dragon and the castle.
I mean nah. Cuz ultimately most people looking at your tattoo will be regular ass dudes. So what actually matters is how it looks to regular ass dudes
Nikki only did 3 decent tattoos the whole season. If it wasnt for Nunes being so biased she should of been eliminated week 4
Yeah seriously that and the fact that she only stayed for as long as she did because Ryan and Kelly covered her ass the whole time.
Are you kidding? Nikki killed it majority of this season
Judges say anything bad/negative
The violin in the background "my time has come"
LMFAOOOO
The pit bull doesn’t really scream cover up to me
Kevin's roses shouldn't be on here they look fantastic. It's like the judges pick and choose what they are judging on every week.
the very last woman who went home for the big cat colored tattoo WAS WRONG that's one of the best tattoos iv seen on this show how could they send her home
ah yes, a "bad canvas", the ink master definition of someone literally just asking for something they want.
It would be a lot easier if the canvases had done a round of tattoo removal
The realistic rose and skull tattoo is amazing I don’t care about a damn outline
To be quite honest there are quite a few episodes where I have to question to judge's decision. A lot of the time it feels like they eliminate artists for drama factor rather than skill. But what more can you expect from mediocre reality tv🤷♂️
I agree, more than just a few.
That’s why I can’t even watch the show because of the judging
funny how they eliminated mike even though he actually did a cover up when trey did not, but then they eliminate both jim and king rucc for not being able to cover the tattoo. and mike genuinely had a good tattoo
They should bump up the time in the revival from 6 to 8 hours smh, there's a lot of stuff you can do with 2 extra hours.
Im pretty sure the time limits arent actually 6 hours anyways
I still can't believe Mike had to leave, I understand that fact that the color pallette may have been a bit too much, but it was definitely a lot better than the jacked up Samurai, still blows my mind how that thing passed-
it'll look a lot better once it healed up properly. the black would turn grey and make it look softer, so the intense black wasn't all that bad, plus it was still easy to read and know what it is.
I've seen Chris Nunez cover-up tattoos and there Horrible!
The skull with the 🌹 was awesome
The expression of that jaguar is just so beautiful. Tbh I think the slight wonkyness brings character to it. It's great.

Purple hair girl - That cover up would need a cover up
Other dude - I'm behind you
Me - What was wrong with the cover up? The owl looks fine.
Like the only real issue was the crease and that was something you couldn't help.
I guess the branch as well but that's a minor issue
Why was the purple haired person so critical to the owl? I'd be happy with that tattoo as its not nearly as bad as some other cover ups
The girl with the purple hair in the end really put me off, you can be critical without shouting over everyone and trying to be the meanest. Like I get its a tough industry and a tough show but c'mon
that surfer dude might be one of the worst tats in ink master history lol
The pit bull wasn’t bad at all, I couldn’t tell it was a cover
Half of those tattoos weren’t even bad 😭🤦🏾♀️
Janelle’s tattoo was really good despite the small linework issues.
I honestly love the jaguar tattoo though
Mike's coverup was pretty spot on, wdym it was the tattoo that sent him home?!
It’s really old fashioned and lame for them to put someone in the bottom 3 for not doing outlines :| plenty of artists don’t do outlines and the tattoos hold up well
I loved the dog tattoo!!
I can't believe they sent him home.
His tattoo was the best cover-up I thought!
I still think they should have sent Maddie home first instead of Frank that season. She never got any better and almost all of her work was in the bottom every week until she was cut.
I felt so bad for Kevin. He's going for realism (which he did beautifully), and the judges knock him for not doing outlines. For the purpose he nailed it! So glad he didn't get axed.
The one with the skull and the roses was amazing tho!
I get what you mean, but then again they could spend hours and hours perfecting it... I've got 2 tattoo one took 25 minutes the other an hour, so I think 6 hours is a long time 😂
Kevin Laroy's tattoo is stunning.
I'm thankful to learn about the importance of outlines on realism as it makes me rethink the next and most important tat I want.
Anyone else notice the judges have a lot of ugly tattoos?
I'd question their judgement
The judges are just nitpicking. Seems like the deciding factor is just lines and lines and lines which are hardly noticeable.
I wonder how good these judges are. Curious to see their work
I just want a compilation of canvas jury moments cause that guy taking the lead in the jury on Frank's and stuff was mildly entertaining

i feel like the most important thing is how the canvas feels about the tattoo, not some random dude who wants a piece of art done on another person's body to be perfect
It must be seriously awful to get a coverup only for the coverup to be bad as well. Coverups are bigger than the original and if the artist screws up your only hope at that point is laser which is horrible! I specifically have that surfer coverup in my mind as I type this 😭😬
Some of these decisions are mind boggling. I think the judges get TOO technical sometimes, to the point where they can't see a hideous, terrible tattoo if it were staring at them in the face.
I requested the man tattooing me did not do an outline and he let me know how awful it would eventually look and I trusted his judgement. It takes a lot of trust to get tattooed and I just always listen to the artist and I'm very happy with my tattoos. But wow did that skull/roses tattoo look AMAZING without those black lines 🙌 too bad it will turn to mud some day😭
I wanna see Nunez compete i wanna see if he can do all these styles perfectly
Why does no one mention the baby arms on Bone Face's tattoo?
Some of these tattoos aren't bad at all but they were judged so hard. I would not in million years get tattoos from these judges :/
Every tat doesn't need an outline, get over it
I actually like the dog tattoo. All the other ones did suck.
What, they sent that girl home for that leopard tatoo? That was gorgeous, and there was nothing wrong with the lines! Dave Navarro has a few wobbly lines between his ears, apparently...
i think the roses with the skull is absolutely beautiful. he's right, i think, that outlines wouldn't make any sense there, that would take away a lot from the realism
the pitbull tattoo was rlly good. he should not have went home over that. the other tattoos were ROUGH
I would not like my artist to have a time limit on my tattoo. These people must be masochists to be on this show. Or they get paid for it.
They’re getting a free tattoo from artists that are (usually) talented it really wouldn’t take that much convincing for someone to go on the show especially when you consider how expensive tattoos can be with the details these people demand
The time limit has been exposed as fake many times
the cheetah still looks soo good i wouldn't mind having it on my skin
I hated to see Mike go home that early. His reaction honestly made me sad 😢
I'm 10 years younger than Jane's Addiction debut album but I can't help simping for Dave Navarro
Same😻
I’m a bit lost on how they came to the conclusion that a realistic tattoo needs an outline. From an artistic standpoint that would kinda defeats the whole purpose. Sure it’s not gonna look as good in 10 years but it’s still gonna be a great tattoo regardless so why ruin the thing with lines?
That dog........ I would have been happy as all get out to get that one!! They were WRONG to send him home for that.
