YOU ROCK - now applying your methods in all mi mixes and the difference is from beginner to PRO. If anyone is looking for he mester mentor out there... SEAN is the man! Keep up the good work. Ive learned so much from your mixing tips specially mixing hot into the MASTER BUS...
Awesome to hear it's helping! 🙏
The same all shit!!! Sean is the beast!
@@SeanDivine God bless you!

LEGEND
i was waiting for this❤️
I am forever grateful you explained a VCA in this video. I've used mastering services before and they have explained that -6db is an optimal level for mastering. It's virtually impossible to hit that level using all your separate tracks. This cleared up exactly how I could accomplish that moving forward! Thanks Sean
Love you man. You’ve helped me so much over the past 2 years. Thank you.
Much love Michael. I’m glad to help! 🙏
Much love man. You're a blessing.

Great video Sean ✌🏻
Great vid as always
And you helping me a lot to understand the Theory of some Processing.

Great video ✌🏻
Thanks A Lot Sean, i didnt know nothing about the VCA Channel.
Great, good to know. thank you.
you're just one of the best out there ☑
Appreciate the kind words!
Can you make a video how you produce/make your beats? Like your go to samples packs, stacking etc. Great video btw :D
Can we talk about the fact that this beat slaps? For real 🔥
Appreciate it Vicco
Thats just what i wus about to type ;)
Let’s get it 🔥
Great 👌 waiting 😍

I'm here!
Great video! Very informative. I noticed that there is still clipping on the output channel. Do you not have to worry about that for the finished master?
If you watch the entire video, there's no clipping actually happening (it may have while enabling / disabling plugins). Towards the end of the video, I show how to create headroom :)
you can easily make your low end mono by putting a channel eq sides mode on your master, and then highpass the sides till the desired frequency (so no fancy plugins are needed)
Technically, yes. Be careful with the EQ plugin you choose. You can cause phase issues very easily...

Let's Divine in
Great vid..If I was to choose 1 or 2 of your vocal chains which one would you suggest? (I record with Logic and I have the Waves Horizon bundle)
Divine Mixing Vocal Chains SR if you're a heavy StudioRack user, I just updated it with new presets :) Vocal Chains LE is all stock plugins for Logic and I still use a lot of those chains as a starting point.
My Maine Man Divine..:))
Great channel. Question about video, what is the point of the VCA if is controlling same volume reduction of all channels? When you can just do that by pulling down mixbus fader
VCAs preserve the relationship of your send levels and work post-fader. Not the same as the master fader. They're also better for controlling different groups i.e. drums, melody, vocals etc.
@@SeanDivine turning down mixbus fader also lowers send level all in harmony, at least in my program where send levels are pre fader on each channel. Also you can control groups with group bus faders. Based on that I just don’t see the point in the VCA
boss divine kkkk yess sir another dope dope dope class b VCA thats new for me ?
Hey Sean! Thanks for the great vid. Was wondering what your thoughts are on Analog style EQs such as the AMEK vs more modern surgical ones like the Pro Q3. I find I have more freedom in identifying a couple of the hissy, problem frequencies that I could very surgically get rid of. Would love to know why you prefer vintage ones over the Pro Q3 or an equivalent of it.
I have Pro Q3 (and many other EQs as well). It’s great for dynamic EQ processing and surgical moves like you’re talking about. The analog modeled EQs provide more “colored” and unique curves that work great for certain situations. Just different brushes to paint with, so to speak!
@@SeanDivine Gotcha. Thanks man!
When using a VCA channel would you also include sends like reverb, delay, bus comp, and vocal tracks?
That’s the beauty of VCAs! No need to set anything else up. All sends and bussing levels stay relative to the mix balancing :)
I love your videos! Though, I have a question.
Why do you keep your sub in the back corner of the room as opposed to closer in front of you under your monitors?
My room has a strange shape... there's a large empty space on the other side, the subs would travel and sound way too loud! It doesn't have to be right in front of you. I'd suggest experimenting for best placement.
thanku
Hey, Sean, I made a beat in Logic Pro and when I bounced it to an MP3 file, it sounds great on both my left and right ear buds. But when I remove an ear bud, the song switches to mono and some of my instruments are removed and it isn’t until I wear both ear buds (which switches the track to stereo) that I can hear the full entirety of the track. ChatGPT blames this issue on Logic’s stereo spread plug in that i used on the master bus but I’ve never had the issue on previous sessions. Is there anything I can do so that my track isn’t missing elements when it’s switched to mono?
Thanks for the awesome video as well. VCA track comes in handy for sure.
They'd completely disappear if they are out of phase. I would try putting the gain plugin on the instruments with issues and flip the phase button, see if it still happens.
@@SeanDivine i definitely will, Sean, and thanks for the reply. I will continue to study “phase” and make the appropriate adjustments. 👌
Do you like to use bx_limiter True Peak when you master tracks with vocals too? How do you know which limiters suit a specific track?
I just started using it recently and yes, works great with vocals also! Every limiter reacts a bit differently and with experience you'll start to develop "go to" options according to what your sessions call for :)
Thanks man,, DO YOU HAVE A TUTORIAL WHERE YOU MAKE A BEAT FROM SCRATCH?
Sure do! ua-cam.com/video/E-2iMUGiV5A/v-deo.html / ua-cam.com/video/ua-Bbvxxoh0/v-deo.html
Which limiter should I buy Sean plzz help me
Bx tp limiter or FabFilter L2 🥺
Or can u plzz show how did u mixed this session......... especially how did u placed each instrument in stereo field plzzzz 🥺
I just started using the Brainworx TP recently... really dig it so far! That being said Pro L2, Ozone, L3 and IMPusher have been my go-to limiters for a long time and they're less expensive. Any of these can get loud and transparent results 👍 ua-cam.com/video/HSeiKpKXENM/v-deo.html / ua-cam.com/video/eZcRbUicyXo/v-deo.html
Im here
Sean, there was an instrumental you produced that was really great but I cannot seem to find it. You made it a good few years back. I cannot remember the title but I believe it had an orange background while the instrumental was playing. It had a female voice every few bars going "yeahaye" and it started out with synth saws. What happened to it? (if you remember which one I mean that is)
Here’s my catalog of available beats air.bi/dTb5z I had one called Reminisce that might be it but have a lot of beats that sound like that :)
King Sean
Glory to the most high 🙏
One thing I did notice that you didn't mention for the people who aren't familiar with your rig is that you weren't using a spectrum analyzer. I know you have the tc hardware but without that knowledge your eq moves seemed preset and premeditated.
Noted. Important to also note that I don't suggest relying on a spectrum analyzer to inform EQ moves. It is helpful as a secondary reference but we're listening to balance overall tone.
@@SeanDivine yes sir, I totally agree that using your ears is 100% necessary in any stage of audio but for the producers and engineers with untrained or unfamiliar ears it definitely can assist as a secondary guide especially in mastering to associate tone with frequency and to quickly locate problem frequency spiked areas in a master situation. Another great video btw.
👍👍👍
Christmas! 🎅🐶 8:15 😂
Good 👀😂
@@SeanDivine 😆 appreciate funny details like that and didn't expect it haha!
The Tlm 103 or the Tlm 49 for vocals, what do you think?
@@SeanDivine Okay thanks, getting one of the both next week
This guy is FAMOUS in my eyes almost twenty plus years making beats. This guy knows his stuff
Has it been that long?! 😊🙏
I love the sound of the bx true pick limiter but It doesn't have a dither option.
True! Why is that important to you?
@@SeanDivine i don't like to use too many plugins if I can mix or master with less plugins. Well, I used as many as I need too.
@@cesargonzalezbueno3359 good call!👍
After Master a Beat. Can I put Vocals on it and Master the whole Song?
Or Should I work only with IQ on Beat and put Vocals on the Track and then I Master the Song at the end.
Do you understand? My English is not the Best. 😂
Thanks and greets from Germany
Your english is good! This is intended for presenting the beat for review by artists, on your beat store, etc. When adding vocals, you ideally want to use the multi tracks without master bus processing :)
@@SeanDivine
Thanks for your answer. I record young artists for free just for fun and often I only have mp3 beats available, which are already mastered. Unfortunately I don't get the quality I want. Are there any tips for such cases? I often try using the waves pusher or a side mid EQ to give the voice more space and try to keep the Melody present.

Can you do a video mastering a Trap song with this EQ

What the point of stereo width in mastering? Shouldn't that be taken care of on individual tracks in mixing? Why would you want to widen the stuff that typically should be in middle like bass, kick, snare, and percs?? I mean bass can be argued, some bass sound good widened. But kicks and snares widened don't sound good to me
If your drum samples consist of mostly mono info, master width doesn’t change that. It’s more about widening the overall stereo field for your pan moves, adding width to reverbs, delays, etc. That being said, nothing wrong with dialing in the width more in the mix and then very subtle widening in the master, as we did here.
Man I wish you could mentor me by opening up my project and showing me personally. I just don't understand why my mixes fall flat. For years its been a struggle. I even switched to logic because of folks like you, to try and imitate it. But sometimes your raw mixes sound better than my finished projects. Which is wack because my beats are cool but underrepresented by the mixes. Frustrating!
It’s important to not get discouraged by where you’re aiming vs. how far you’ve come. I bet you’ve made a lot of progress since you started :) You got this! A lot of times what’s giving you the most trouble is a simple fix / change of approach. Contact me on my website 🙌
@@SeanDivine Appreciate the encouragement man. You inspire me. I will hit you up soon!

How the French you got 89 Days trials? Lol Very Interesting!
I was sent an extended trial for testing, have purchased both of them since :)
