This is definitely worth a try for $8 rather than some kits that go for $40+. Thanks for showing! But the air compressing and little film sheet seemed pointless, I'd just put the resin on and leave it under UV light for an hour, then wipe off the excess.
Thanks for doing this video. I am really good with software but a dope when it comes to doing things with hardware. I bought a repair kit from amazon for 9 bucks and then used it 2 days after I dropped the phone and had a large divit in lower corner with spider web to other corner. It sealed the "hole" area and seems to have done a great job of stopping further damage (provided it is not dropped again).
My phone.....cracked and not responding thru the touch screen....the visual imaging is distorted, too....wondering if the imaging will work, ad factum?
I thought of the same thing and searched youtube and found your video. My recommendation would be to completely remove the old glass with playing cards and a heat gun, and after cleaning really well, use this epoxy resin under the glass, put in a vacuum sealing bag like what you use for food, and suck all the air out. This repair would be really useful instead of using that crappy double sided tape that comes with the replacement glass. I'm thinking a lot of people don't have a dedicated vacuum chamber and pump, but it would probably work with a food sealer vacuum gadget. If you had a vacuum pump like what is used for HVAC work, it would take ALL the air out.
Your exactly right. I just accidentally smashed my gallaxy android and it still worked but the screen was totally shattered and felt weak.l watched your video saying the first repair was with super glue and it made total sense.l then used super glue gel and trowels it on with a box cutter blade ,kind of thick on the most shattered and let cure. Then l scraped the middle to the glass and got the clarity back and left the top and bottom (most shattered and weak)with a layer of glue strongbacking the worst part of the damage.it feels great and strong and l still see some cracks, but l got my phone back with integrity.Heck l am not going to change the glass or get another phone! That windshield repair kit is total bull....thanks for saving me lots of money and stress!
My tablet fell on hard ground from Its edge and the crack spread from the edge to 1/4 of that corner.. What should I do crack aren't broad just the major impacted area has hole rest all other is intact
Hey Trent I liked all three of the methods you share but I'm typing on my super badly spiderwebbed HTC desire 530 which one do you suggest for such a large surface area cuz you only showed minor damage which would work best for my phone?
Paytton McKenzie epoxy in a vacuum chamber is best for something like that. That's hard to come by though. You should just try spreading epoxy over the screen to seal up some of those cracks.
You would have had BETTER results had you followed the instructions and PLUNGED the resin into the crack first. THEN pulled it bac up removing any air pockets. Im an auto tech and use this to repair windshields all the time. You did it backwards and thats why you still had all the cracks showing
HOLLYWOOD DV, Trent didn't do anything backwards. If you reexamine closely the kit instructions Trent displayed in this video, he DID, in fact, follow the instructions as written. There's another UA-cam video (from Steve and Senda) that shows the entire Blue Star instruction sheet in the first ten seconds of the video. Regardless of what technique you might employ as an auto tech, the instructions back Trent up. Nothing in the instructions indicates a requirement to plunge the resin into the crack first.
@@quoilluminentur2981 I think he may have actually skipped several steps. You can see the numbers for each step aren't consecutive. I reckon he hasn't unfolded the instructions fully.
Hey Trent, I have a Samsung galaxy s8 with the edges all cracked up like that tablet you have. I am going to use the epoxy method to fill it in. Got any advice?
Hey Trent my galaxy s8 screen and back panel are lifting up. I think the adhesive is loosening up? Is there any cheap method for me to repair it myself or do you suggest taking it to someone to fix it? The screen lifts up barely but it is an annoyance and I can lifting it up with my fingernail quite easily, I was thinking I could maybe work in some sort of stronger adhesive? If so what would you suggest?
Bro it doesnt dammage the phone bc if you have ever used this on your windsheild CORRECTLY and then you cant see the ccrack then that means that it works on glass right, O.K ✅
I wanted to know if the screen does not lose touch sensitivity, where the glue was covering the scratches. (My language is Portuguese, so I didn't understand anything about the audio 😅)
tried this before on a busted phone I had laying around. My advice is, dont do it. It only slightly improves the phones appearance while the screen is off. When you turn it on touchscreen works just fine, but the cracks are still there. I even think that it made the cracks more noticeable (when the screen is on). If you really wanna get rid of cracks on your screen just replace the damn thing, or you're better off dealing with it as it is.
I did this shortly after watching the video. My screen is fine. No issues with dead spots. I don't know if I'd try it for cracks in the center of the screen but on the side where mine is, it's fine.
I just dropped my Motorola phone just 30 minutes ago and the whole right side of the screen is cracked and it runs to the middle and light cracks over to the left side, the touch screen still works and Ive been frantically trying to find ways to fix it
Why not just get the screen protector when you purchased the phone? Has saved all of my iPhone's & iPad's screens, on multiple occasions. Well worth the extra cost to protect the original glass/screen. Also, add a protective case, helps further. Just a thought.

Yeah, but.. Did it work when you switched the phone on??! ☺️ I find that any cracks on the main part of a phone screen stop you typing properly or tapping buttons.

As I am at time stamp 13:52 now, the suspense is epic. Bro, for the time, effort, and cost. Super glue is preferred. Thanks for doing these vids.
