Very true, it is easier to manage pests when planted in Leca. My Calathea - Veitchiana came down with an infestation of spider mites. I hosed down the leaves, without the worry of root rot, like a plant in soil. Veitchiana is now recovering.

I tried everything to get rid of FG. This is the reason I changed all my plants to semi hydro or full hydro.

Love this!!! But off topic, not sure the next time you'll do a q&a. Have you ever grown (or tried) a piper plant in leca. I can't find info on anyone growing them in semi-hydro.

You can definitely get pests in semi hydro/full hydro. You still have problems with thrips and mites 🤣 - mites especially because people don't get the tops of leaves wet. I do full hydro with my non soil plants and mites are the bane of those plants!

The room temperature may reach 30 degrees Celsius. Can I add Sphagnum moss to the surface of the pot to maintain the humidity inside the pot?
