This sunscreen leads to flaking when I use it with make up. Like the sunscreen seems to flake off and skin looks weird. If I then rub my hand over my face it comes off. Do you know why? I use ordinary's moisturizer after, is that why?
🤔 Sunscreen is the last step in your skincare routine. So you use the moisturizer before. And after you have applied the sunscreen, you need to wait at least 5-10minutes before using makeup. Hi Melissa! I discovered your channel a few days ago and I'm loving your content😊. I was just wondering if maybe you or someone in the comments could help me with this problem: I wear makeup almost every single day and since I'm new to skincare I've started wearing SPF (after cleansing and moisturizing just the way you said in this video), but when I try to put my foundation on, no matter how long I wait for the sunscreen to sit, it starts pilling and looks horrible🥺. I have oily acne prone skin. Is anyone else having this problem?
Hey :) What sunscreen do you use? And do you feel the need of using a moisturiser under your sunscreen since you have oily acne-prone skin? And most sunscreens feel already a bit moisturising on the skin. For example, the sunscreen I used in this video works well for me without a moisturiser too. This way, you will apply your sunscreen immediately on the skin and not on top of your moisturiser especially if your moisturiser sits on top of the skin and can not absorb into the skin. Or it may be an issue with the formulation of your sunscreen and/or foundation, which can also cause pilling.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietThank you so much for replying! 💕 I use the Eucerin Dry Touch Oil Control sunscreen. I will try skipping my moisturizer since I have also just been reading in articles and forums that silicones can cause pilling, and mine contains Dimethicone. I'll start looking for silicone free makeup as well and see if it works better. Thank you again. 😊
my sunscreen pills even though I layer everything correctly, why is this happening? I wait usually 2 mins to let the moisturiser absorb, should I be waiting longer?
What moisturiser and sunscreen do you use? And how much do you use of your moisturiser? Do you use anything else before applying your moisturiser? Also, what's your skin type?
I have makeup videos on my channel, but those are older videos :) As for what foundation to choose, this depends on what you like :) As you can choose between light, medium and high coverage :)
Great video. Hmm Accdg to other dermatologist they adviced to always reapply spf? And that there is a tendency for us to always underapply during the first application of the spf..So its safer to do reapplication throughout the day and not to depend on the spf on make up products since you wont get enough protection from them esp w the small amount we would apply compare to what we actuall need get the spf protection claimed from that product.
Yeah, however, it isn't essential unless you are doing sunbathing. Or let's say if you are long exposed to the sun. (for hours) Otherwise, you only need low protection, and when applying it once in the morning and you have a regular office job or school day, it will not matter much. Some dermatologists may only recommend using it that much because they want to sell more products or have their line, affiliate links etc. Also, there is not much risk to it. People that tend to get damaged are the ones that are exposed to the sun for hours. But I do feel that it is promoted in the wrong way. Generally, if you are that type of person that wears makeup, you are usually not wearing it when sunbathing, and therefore it won't matter. If you do, well, you do have an issue with the reapplication. And you should probably take it off and reapply it every 2 hours if you are really that concerned.
I discovered your channel recently and I found it very original, you seem like a very wise person. Which brush do you think is best for applying foundation? Does a less dense brush apply less pressure? Or is a denser brush that takes less product better?
Hey! :) I prefer a flat/dense foundation brush like the one I used in the video (Zoeva 104 Buffer Brush). That's the one I always use! :) Yes, correct. I also find that it blends the foundation much better. You can still balance the coverage based on how much product you use :)
Hm, I mainly stopped because not many people wanted to watch it 😞 , and it is so commercialised on UA-cam. What would you like to see? I mean what kind of eye makeup tutorials?
Hi Melissa, in the morning I use azelaic acid (the ordinary) then squalane oil then my sunscreen, then my makeup primer, then foundation. Please let me know should I not use the azelaic acid on days that I wear makeup?
The squalane oil should go before Azelaic Acid. It cannot penetrate through silicon. It includes so much silicon that it may be unnecessary to use a primer. Have you used that often? And how do you feel about this combination 🤔?

How much sun exposure are you getting? Generally, it's recommended to reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more frequently if you're sweating, swimming, or if you'll be exposed to the sun for a prolonged period (such as during outdoor activities). However, if you're not getting much sun exposure, you may not need to reapply it, as it doesn't break down.
