Largely forgotten now, he was quite a celebrity in his day. I worked in a grocery store after school and it was located in the vicinity of the Oriole Theater. Some of the Prophet's staff occasionally came in the store to shop but unfortunately I never saw the Prophet himself.
JT Skyles believe it or not my grandmother followed the prophet from 1951 until he died. The citizens of the Kingdom dress very elegantly. Evening gowns and stylish suits and tuxedos. That was a different world. The prophet did some amazing things for blacks in that day. He required all the saints to dress very elegantly because most were use to wearing whatever during the time when blacks didn't have much. Prophet required the best and the saints dress in formal wear. It was a sight to see according to my grandmother. As she would say, you had to be there. Even where the church was located on Linwood street. My grandmother said that area was a showplace in 1951, from Linwood to Fenkell Ave. just a beautiful well kept area.

The level of quality that was exemplified in the Media and Music Ministries during the reign of Prophet Jones is amazing! You can hear the sounds of excellence. Thank you for contributing the recordings of Prophet Jones. Please submit more if you can. You have an audience of interest. Many blessings.
When I visited Detroit five years ago, I saw the weirdest thing,by accident. Visiting two of Prophet Jones churches, his name was drilled into the walls of the front of the churches for 40,and 50 years, that the imprint of his name, is still on the outdoor walls of the churches.
@@JamarSkyles I think it would be nice to know, that Prophet Jones 10 bedroom mansion, still exist, on Arden Park street, in Detroit, the State of Michigan acquired, and sold it, after his death.
@@waynejackson3162 Yes I've seen pictures. I'd like to check it out whenever I'm able to visit Detroit. I read articles and books where Daddy Grace took over or purchased his mansion and his church. Painted the house red, white and blue.
For the people on here being nasty to the people who don't believe what you believe, you don't have to be nasty...just answer with The Word and that would sum up your argument far better than mean words ever. could...You can't enlighten somebody by being mean to them, especially when you feel like you are right....
Completely disagree with those that say awful things about these spiritual ministers. Actually for everyone's knowledge, my grandmother followed both minister from 1951 until they passed. She use to tell me, if it weren't for these two ministers and the special gift they had, she wouldn't have been able to pay the house taxes and raise her kids. This minister was led by God himself at one point in his life. I remember Rev. Boyd telling me years ago, when he was a 16 year old teenager 1936, Prophet Jones came to Dothan, AL. to run a revival. This was the first time Rev. Boyd had ever seen open prophecy. Prophet Jones prophesied in that meeting that a storm was coming through Dothan and would do much damage. He also prophesied there would be one of the biggest funerals ever held in Dothan, AL. Within two weeks the storm came and did just what he prophesied. Then a well known minister was killed by the husband of a woman he was dating on the side. It was the biggest funeral in that day, just like the Prophet said. So as the one comment explained, don't talk about people you know nothing about. God has a way to get the glory out of anyone that he chooses to use for his Divine Will. Not on our picks and chooses. These prophets primarily were lights in the City of Detroit. Finally, if anyone can come near all the good demonstrated by these wonderful ministers, I'd like to see you do better than what's been done long before you, your mother and grandmother were born. Top that!
Is there any more info or pictures of Rev. Ralph J Boyd's movement? I've seen the videos. I was wondering if there's some more on him, like Dr. James F. Prophet Jones? They are fascinating to me.

@versacebouy86 Did Rev. Boyd study under Prophet Jones? Exactly what denomination did they belong? What church did Rev. Boyd pastor? Why the flamboyance?
Robert Harlan Sorry for the delay in response. Prophet Jones brought Rev. Boyd to Detroit, MI. April 15th, 1940. Rev. Boyd came from a little town in Alabama called Dothan, AL. Prophet Jones came from Birmingham, AL. Both ministers were brought up in Triumph The Church, Kingdom of God In Christ under the late, Father Elias Dempsey Smith. Rev. Boyd served as the valet for the Third Presiding Bishop I.H. Lee until God called him to leave Atlanta, GA and come to Detroit, MI. In response to their flamboyance was primarily an attention attraction. We all have a calling card based on what makes us all unique. Rev. Boyd's was his elaborate robes. But beyond the veil of robes, he had a message of Life far beyond these Death Angels in the pulpits now. These minister brought hope to a race of people that saw everything dark and gloomy. They had nothing positive to look at other than darkness. And they had spiritual gifts from birth. They were true prophet as were Prophet Elijah and Elisha. When Prophet Jones and Rev. Boyd came on the scene, they taught black people to wake up from the grave and the tomb of darkness which is a spiritual grave of ignorance, predominating man and bringing him unto death. They brought a message of LIFE and taught people to live and forget about death to find a city called heaven. They taught Heaven starts here on earth. They taught perfect the mind which will transform the body. The body is the result of your mind. "As a man think, so is he". If you ever get to Detroit, the church where Rev Boyd pastored is located at 7000 East Canfield, Detroit, MI. 48207. Visit sometime. The message of Life is still being taught that we will one day ransomed us from the power of the grave.
versacebouy86 I grew up in the Kingdom bro and you are spot on. Even after we left, those teachings have stuck with even until now! Life is yours as long as you say it is!! He taught us the importance of loving one another and being blessed citizens of this world! He taught us we could have whatever we desired as long as we kept our thoughts on high. I appreciate your knowledge and sharing a piece of my faith!
Aaron Franklin absolutely. Sorry for the delay in response. I was very close to the Divine King. When I lived away he would come to stay with me a week at a time with his drivers. This was between 1999 and 2001. He would stop by and stay with me then continue on down to Dothan AL. When did you leave the kingdom. I might know you. I came in 1989.

That's interesting. How were they? How did they dress? What would they talk about or discuss?

Any more of his radio recordings available from the '40s, the '50s, the '60s? I'd like to see videos when he started TV recording in the '50s.

A great and rare historic document, but why the hyper patriotic schmaltz?
Another false profit
Where is this from?? Please get back to me.
Interesting that the chords of the royalist BRITISH national anthem sound out after the patriotic songs of the US republic. Nice touch!
