- Our overland motorcycle tour of Myanmar. A whirlwind 5 days of a guided trip to some of the highlights of this wonderful country
We have successfully finished the trip - and luckily we snuck it in before covid hit. This is a throwback to March 2019 when we went through Myanmar, the 6th country on our trip. Myanmar has only really been opened to Tourism since 2012, and it still only receives a hand full of the tourists that neighbouring countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia get. We were lucky enough to enter with the only caveat being that we would have to have a tour guide with us at all times. This is only due to the fact that we were entering with our own vehicles. We chose a 5 day trip that included things like the Golden Temple, Naypyidaw and Bagan. We wish we had longer. Riding motorbikes through Myanmaw is extraodinary. The bikes we are using are 2 Suzuki DR650 Dual sport motorcyles which, in our oppinion, are perfect for an unsupported trip like this
This is the 6th country in our unsupported attempt at riding from Sydney to London

Thats awesome indo is so good for finding bikes and getting around is actually easy with all the ferries (that's if you don't mind waiting around alot) I'd happily spend 3 months just island hoping all through Indonesia.

just found these.... i overlanded Calcutta home to Phuket 3 years ago on public transport - awesome Myanmar. I did a 12000km loop 4 years ago of India (Bangalore to Bangalore) on a 220cc India Bahaj bike (2 months) so looking forward to those episodes next.

Myanmar was my first motorcycle road trip and it was amazing. If you want to really visit Myanmar by your self fly to Mandalay. There is an american guy who rents motorcycle there. No need for a guide

Btw, nothing truer on the BMW jokes. Don't mean to disrespect the beast, but I gave up 1l+ adv bikes and would take the 400 (750 max) trail bikes anytime.
No roads? No problem. Not scared falling off and can't get the bike up.

Smog is normal in dry season. Farmers burn the fields before planting again. plus pollution doesn't go away because no wind or rain. It's same in Thailand and India

Hey guys, nice video! Was this 6 months ago, as it says in the description? I thought that Myannar had completely shut down because of Covid19 and the military coup. I am a European living in Malaysia and also doing some overland bike travelling, but was trying to find a way to ride across Myanmar lately. Thanks!
We actually finished the trip just before covid so would have been in 2019. Unfortunately myanmar is shit down now but let's hope they get sorted out soon as it's such a beautiful country with lovely people.
I hope you can find a way round. I know it used to be common for people to fly their bikes from Thailand to India or Nepal which wasn't too expensive but we wanted to ride across for obvious reasons

No not a stupid question at all but yes it was mate, we finished this trip at the end of 2019 luckily before covid kicked off
