  • As a first-generation Canadian immigrant, a proud father of two remarkable children, and a community leader, Tunde Awoyiga exemplifies the essence of fatherhood. With a journey beginning as a student at Dalhousie University in 2003, he has embraced the responsibilities of preserving culture and tradition. Despite the challenges, he and his wife have instilled strong values in their children, with one becoming the 2023 Halifax Youth Poet Laureate.
Awoyiga emphasizes the importance of being hands-on, from changing diapers to supporting his children’s education and extracurricular activities. Inspired by his own father’s dedication, he balances work and family life, ensuring a solid foundation for his children. Their home is a testament to the power of intentionality, sacrifice, and cultural preservation, as his children fluently speak and write Yoruba, maintaining a deep connection to their heritage.

Awesome interview. It does not cost much to be a real dad. Sacrifice, Sacrifice. Foundation is key. Focus, create your own script. Be present, be the dad, coach and mentor, ever present ❤❤. Happy Fathers Day Tunde❤
