You are a joy! What fun it is watching grow as a sewist! I'd do the McCalls skirt for the fly front. Easier to tackle and it's a nice pattern you can wear to work.love that animal pillow. And up cycling a thrift. Go for it! ❤
I put my serger on my 2025 goals too. But mine has been sitting around unused for 2 years!! I watched some Craftsy classes that really helped with threading my machine and kept scraps to practice on to get the tension correct for each fabric. Someone also pointed out to me that you can also disengage the cutter for practice, which has helped. But so far I am loving it and I'm sure you will too! I'm also looking forward to seeing your swimsuit. I'm your opposite, I want to be in the water all of the time! And I want to sew all the swimsuits so I can't wait to see yours.
I did the same thing with my serger! But, after taking a little time exploring the book that came with it. I'm happy to say I have impressed myself. Do it, you will love yourself for it.
You accomplished so much, congratulations! So glad you shared your year with us; you are delightful! Love your upbeat and bubbly personality. Thank you! I’ve tried several front fly installations, but the best and nearly fool-proof method is by Sandra Betzina. She was my sewing guru; fabulous sewing teacher! She retired from teaching, but you can find her featured in a UA-cam video (about 4 years ago) called Easy to Sew Fly Front Zipper by Threads Magazine. The only thing not included in that video is the fly shield, but that is very easy to make and sew/secure behind the fly. The fly/fly extension is part of the front pant pattern (no extra sewing pieces) which reduces bulk in the fly area, and sewing accuracy isn’t required except for the final stitching on the front. Another great feature is that the zipper is completely covered by the fly; it doesn’t peak out anywhere. I alter all my front fly patterns (add the fly extension) to ensure success. I look forward to seeing all your 2025 pattern reviews and makes. Thank you again!
Thank you! It was a great year of sewing and I’m looking forward to sharing this year. Thank you so much for all your love and support! I truly appreciate it and I’m going to check out Sandra on UA-cam. Thank you so much!
My dear, you did great you did seven out of nine makes. Give yourself a pat on the back. The surgery comes with a CD. I was intimidated too by the surgeon when I first purchased it, but I said I have to overcome my fears so I went ahead and watch the CD and I also google it on UA-cam and explain to you how to thread it and everything now I’m a pro. I have a singer quantum 9960 I bought it two Christmas ago. I haven’t even touched it so the other day I said you know what I can’t have a sewing machine and not using it even though I have aBrother SQ9285 I wore in 2000 during the pandemic. I made a lot of mass and made some pretty good money. I know you can tackle that surgery like I said it comes with a CD and you could Google it on UA-cam. I enjoy your videos. Happy new year. 🎉🎉Have a wonderful and blessed day and stay safe.
Sis, looking forward to more of your humor and sewing adventures in 2025. You had me rolling about the beach. I never liked hot sand between my toes either😂
If you ever want to try sewing a handbag again, I recommend the Sunshine wristlet from Bagstock designs. It was my first ever bag I made back in 2020. It is a free pattern and there are many sew along videos on UA-cam to watch if you are lost.
The major sewing project(s) I want to do this year is make junk jean quilts for my kids. I watched your video about the electric scissors and decided to buy one myself, I'm hoping it will help me with cutting the junk jeans into pieces instead of using a rotatory cutter. Love how you set goals for yourself, good way to learn new skills.
Money well spent on all your 2024 makes! As for indie patterns, I subscribe to their newsletters and watch for sales. Love Notions offers one of their patterns every Friday for $5 and when Ellie and Mac has a 50% off sale, it’s usually a good deal. A couple of their patterns are currently $3.50 right now. I just bought AND made the South Shore Romper and it’s great! You might find it easier to upcycle a curtain from the thrift store into a garment. I found a beautiful double gauze curtain and made a light weight jacket and that made a large piece of nice fabric super inexpensive Happy sewing!
Hi Cee, definitely tackle the server, once you try it you'll love it. I share your fear of the fly front. Your challenging yourself has inspired me to try one in 2025 too. Thanks for the videos🙂
I started sewing last year and I have gradually started sewing more difficult patterns. I do love the staples, the simi skirt is one of them. I must think like a sewist now as I looked at the latest fashions in the high street and a dress almost identical was in the shop and I thought, I have pattern the same as that! The said pattern is now cut out and ready to be sewn! I still fear button holes but I am getting better. Serging I absolutely love and zips of all things. I am going to pick 25 patterns and see how I do for this year.
Yesss I love that!! Wow that’s awesome! I’m sure those 25 makes are going to be amazing! And you got those buttonholes!! You tackle the button holes, and I’ll tackle the serger and zippers 😂
Indie patterns are definitely worth it for bags. The big 4 just need to stop trying with bags. I highly recommend any of the bag patterns from noodlehead.
I’m going to check out Noodlehead. I just purchased the Crescent Bag by VikiSews, I think. I’ll refer to Indie patterns for bags moving forward. Thanks so much! ❤️
Re: indie pattern cost: Rochelle recently listed some good indies on Etsy that were super affordable. Like just a couple of dollars. I'd also say if you can find an indie company with a block that fits you well, it saves so much time and money on fitting. They usually offer lots of variations or opportunities to hack them.
For indie patterns, I hate the printing cause printer ink is so expensive. I just learned my local library is expanding their creative space which includes a big printer with low cost print. They are also getting sewing machines. Like you I have my own but I may go talk to people. Agree on the indie price. I also snorted when you thought about the price of all the makes. I glanced toward my stash of 2024 fabric and pattern so had the same thought… I don’t want to think about it either. It’s my happy place. 💙💜💙💜💙
I know what you mean, it’s hard to think about the price! 😂😂 But it’s all worth it for the joy of sewing. 💜💙 Your local library sounds like a gem! I’m going to check mine out.
Take a look at NH Pattern's (an indie pattern company) Riviera Pant and Shorts. It's the pattern I used to make my very first fly-front pants and it was EASY and the pants are very nice. It was explained very well. You'd kill two birds with one stone.. indie pattern and fly front. BAM.
Sergers use more thread than the zigzag stitch. It is very easy to use the serger. I also have a Brother serger. There are so many tutorials on UA-cam for threading and using a Brother serger.
You use the cone thread for sergers which is far more economical than the smaller spools used with my sewing machine. I have tutorials for my serger saved on a playlist on UA-cam and I’m all good to go. Thank you!
@@weceestyle , that is true. Cones of thread lasts a while. I’ve had my serger for a year and some days. I have not used an entire spool yet. Go for it
I am diving right in for 2025😬. I just starting piecing jeans........with an actual zipper😬😬😬. I need to get it done so I do not put it off...AGAIN LOL
Love your channel. I would highly recommend this video tutorial on putting in a fly front. It is the only way I put one in and it works great. ua-cam.com/video/jkFQ3J-9Tr4/v-deo.htmlsi=k7fAlJRBYr0FLih8
I’m ready for it. I think I’m going to tackle it in the next few weeks. And you make a great point, I think I’m going to remove swimwear bc I’m just not going to wear it and I’m not going to be excited to make it. I just don’t know what to replace it with.
5:09 I think S8880 is so cute; I also love the Thanksgiving dress. My Brother serger has gotten a lot of use and I'm so glad that I purchased it. I only use undyed cotton thread on my serger so I don't have to change out the thread spools for any colors. As a matter of fact, I have never had to fully thread my serger because when I first got it, I just tied my cotton thread to the thread that was already in the machine and it threaded itself lol. When my spools run low, I just tie the new spool to the end of the old spool to keep a running supply line of thread.
That’s a cool hack to tie the thread when it’s running low! I’ll definitely have to keep that in mind! I also absolutely love the idea of undyed cotton thread! 🤔 You just put two great gems in my mind!! Thank you! 💋
Once you start serging you will never look back! 😂 I want to tackle fly fronts this year too. We got this! 💪
We got this!!! 💪🏾 We’re crushing goals all year long!
You are a joy! What fun it is watching grow as a sewist! I'd do the McCalls skirt for the fly front. Easier to tackle and it's a nice pattern you can wear to work.love that animal pillow. And up cycling a thrift. Go for it! ❤
You are too sweet! Thank you so much! And I love your support! McCall’s skirt it is!
Looking forward to your makes for 2025.😊
I hope I can live up to your expectations! Thank you for watching and for your support! ❤️

Thanks for the encouragement! You're right, I gotta take that leap of faith and learn to use that serger! I really appreciate that! ❤️
Love notions Friday $5 deal. Patterns are good for basic sewing.
Those are my favorite deals to snag! I’ll be sure to check them out! Thank you! ☺️

Way to go on nailing so many of your sewing goals for 2024!!! Looking forward to seeing what comes out of you for 2025

Great video and oh my gosh you are such a hoot. 😂😊
Aww, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
It's a wonderful girl on UA-cam shows you how to thread the serger machine. But that's how I learn how to thread my machine
I’m going to tackle it this year! 💪🏾 🤞🏾
Congratulations early on reaching 5K!❤
Aww thank you! I appreciate it! ❤️
Zippers were my nightmare however by watching video but also reading sewing guide books. Also I did many sample with muslin.
I’m determined to get them right this year. And thank you for suggesting practicing on muslin! That’s a wonderful idea!
Hey there cee, happy Friday and trying to catch up on your videos.
Happy Friday! I'm glad you're here!

What dress are you wearing? It's so cute❤😊
@@tamikathomas8775 I will go and look. I have a few but am finding lots of tee shirts. Will find a way to share the coins.

Hi Cee! Happy New Year! I'm here to watch your highs and your lows! I didn't really see any lows! You did a great job!

Once you learn the serger you will kick yourself for not starting earlier. Also, why make swimwear at all?
I’m ready for it. I think I’m going to tackle it in the next few weeks. And you make a great point, I think I’m going to remove swimwear bc I’m just not going to wear it and I’m not going to be excited to make it. I just don’t know what to replace it with.
