He has a very deep emotional bond with this piece! He can transform it into a light gentleness contrasted against the darker more serious part of the work. He's much like a painter composing his own picture of his version! Delicate, yet powerfully Stern and somberly gorgeous!
Perhaps the best arrangement for piano of this Vocalise. And it is also good that a russian pianist interprets this the way he wants. So that the russian in it stayes there. Warm thanks!

Надо же, Машенька, а мне конкретно не понравилось. Давил на уши и душу траурный «шопеновский» си-бемоль минор. Уверена, что для композиторов особенно сакрально ощущение тональности, и тональность светлой грусти - до диез-минор - выбран был Рахманиновым совсем не случайно. И не надо к таким святыням прикасаться...
Но, конечно, понятно, что на вкус и цвет (и окрас тональности, добавят профессиональные музыканты) товарищей нет.

Not so. He is not even in his performances, unlike Gilels. Daniil need a little more time to mature to the level of a great master.

Interesting that he decided to transpose it to B-flat minor, rather than keep it in the usual C-sharp minor. This arrangement is still great.

Прослушала перед этим видео Вокализ в исполнении Э. Гилельса. Там был истинный Рахманинов!! Если целью прекрасного, бесспорно, исполнителя было явить миру своё прочтение данного произведения , с этой задачей , которую он ставил , безусловно справился!
У Даниила,как и у Э.Гилельса-- транскрипция, но написанная для "другого голоса" ! Он имел право это сделать--заслужил...а главное, что важно, что форма его не прерывается нигде, как и у Гилельса! И о чем это говорит?! ... Эти настоящие Музыканты играли Рахманинова, а не себя!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Trifovnov is god. But I could use a little bit more tenderness and give in this rendition.
Incredible sign of a poor musicianship is - that there is no tempo through the whole piece. That makes impression like it is not a beautiful composition, a piece of music, but it is just something like hanging inside nice harmonics without any direction or meaning.
Excactly so. This is very strange, really.
We all have our own opinions - but if the pulse is unstable, (tempo is changing all the time like in this Trifonov's recording) then the whole idea of the structure is missing. And so is the whole Music and it's meaning, the idea.
