Shockwave can still have his G1 based design since in the Devastator combining scene, a newspaper hits a pole and has a picture of a G1 looking Shockwave, also thank you for clearing up the misconception about Bay saying the comics weren’t canon, I’ve been trying to tell people that forever

Well, that was just an Easter egg more than anything, so it doesn't really count as canon. Easter eggs are typically hidden nods or playful references meant to please longtime fans or acknowledge previous works. They’re fun to spot and can add depth, but they aren’t necessarily meant to be taken as definitive parts of the the main canon.

At least the Bayformers comics were cohesive and enjoyable to read.

These movie comics were pretty great at tying loose ends between films and the Prequel comics provided more context for the trilogy similar to how the Star Wars Expanded Universe gave context for the Star Wars films, I want to pretend the last two movies didn't happen cause they broke the lore.

It can still be Starscream or his team who shot down the Ark as in DOTM Megatron was explaining the plan they made with Sentinel to Starscream just before Sentinel brought the Decepticon army to DC.

I honestly go by the films and dictate whether they actually are Canon (yes that includes AOE and TLK regardless how much we hate and wish for them to not be canon)
What I dislike about tie in comics/media is that it doesn't get acknowledged by the films.
For example Shockwave is an infamous assassin but it was never mentioned in the films, he practically was a generic Decepticon to general audiences.
Another example in TLK Megatron mentioned how he and Optimus were brothers (in arms) once which is practically how the tie in comics depicted them, then you got Bee landing on earth in WW2 meanwhile he landed in 2003 in the comics.
You also have to take in account that the comics can line up with the films but have noticable differences that dont match up.
The comics do help explain and clean up things from the films but the films are treating other media like a redheaded step child

The films do acknowledge elements from the comics, particularly Transformers: Foundation. In this comic, Optimus recalls Sentinel Prime, the previous leader of the Autobots, who taught him critical ideals, like the belief that "freedom is the right of all sentient beings." Sentinel didn't just teach this quote to Optimus; he shared it with others like Megatron, Elita, Shockwave, and Ironhide, instilling in them a sense of purpose and responsibility. This guidance likely deepened Optimus’s commitment to protect human lives and prevent the Decepticons from taking away their freedom just as they once did to his own kind.
In one notable panel from Foundation, Sentinel tells Optimus, “Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing.” Optimus later repeats this exact line in Revenge of the Fallen during the graveyard scene. The film and comic also align on the idea of the Ark being lost after it was attacked. Sentinel's relationship with Optimus and Megatron is also detailed, showing how he raised them both, though they eventually followed very different paths one as a protector, the other as a conqueror. This backstory sheds light on the brothers’ complex history and adds depth to their film portrayals.
However, The Last Knight disrupts much of this established lore. For instance, it implies the Autobots and Decepticons have been on Earth for centuries, despite previous stories depicting Bumblebee’s arrival in 2003 and suggesting that the Cybertronians discovered Earth much later. Many details in TLK feel inconsistent or even contrived, leaving fans questioning how the Autobots could have supposedly been on Earth for so long without these details aligning with prior storylines.
That said, the films do incorporate some references to events from the comics, though usually in small ways. I wouldn’t expect a film to focus heavily on “Remember when we did this or that,” but references to key events like the Autobots’ long-standing war, Sentinel Prime being both a teacher and inventor, and Jazz’s death as a motivation to keep fighting add continuity. Moments like Bumblebee losing his voice to Starscream or Jazz’s sacrifice would understandably impact the Autobots deeply, influencing their decisions and morale in the films.
Shockwave being called an assassin could just be a title the Autobots gave him because he must have committed an Autobot murder spree at some point, which is why they call him that in the DOTM game. I know it's something else, but for the tie-in comic Rising Storm, it’s not canon to either the films or the main comics. The beginning of the DOTM game actually connects more closely to the film's comic adaptation s, which sounds strange but is true if you read it. In the comic adaptation, Shockwave tries to steal a pillar, and what does Megatron want Shockwave to steal at the end of the game? A pillar. There are other details, but I’ll talk about them in a future video.

@J-Man1000 with all due respect that comes across something, the comics explaining things afterwards. For instance sentinel giving that line about fate is something after the film.
Optimus never mentioned how sentinel taught him those lessons in the film, only in the comics. The films never explain what they do for autobots (jazz) that died in battle. You only know they get buried in the ocean in shipping containers because the comics explained it. The films don't explain it.
I'm talking about Situations like Bumblebee losing his voice box again in one of the tie-in comics during the fight between starscream and wreckage. The film didn't acknowledge why he lost hisvoice again.
Another Example is shockwave, Is he killed new recruits jolt, Elita and Galloway in the tie in comics but in the films they don't acknowledge what happened to the previous autobots or why prime brutally killed shockwave.
The comics are the ones picking up slack and the films hardly acknowledge them

@J-Man1000 the films didn't explain why bee lost his voice again that is the only thing I'm talking about, we know the comics explain it but not the film itself, they didnt give a hint or nod.
We don't know why Megatron betrayed Optimus and became evil in the films. Yes, the comics explain it, but why is there no nod or hint why Megatron betrayed Optimus IN THE FILM.
They don't get acknowledged IN THE FILM.

Would been great if we got any more of this for Age of Extinction and The Last Knight, even though those two are everyone’s least favorite films of the franchise. But it would cool to see the origins of Lockdown. Like when he started out as a soldier for Megatron’s crew, until he betrayed them, along with others as they became Mercenaries who only work for the highest in the universe. And like how the Dinobots came to be, before being captured by the Bounty Hunter. And one for Quintessa and the Knights. A fan group came up with the idea that the creators, who are the Quintessons, were responsible for the Allspark’s creation. And that Quintessa and the Knights were the 13 original to be born from the Cube. They would later fight Unicron, with the Cube, which they used to cast him out into the far reaches of space. And with time and gravitation, the Earth would formed around him. The Quintessons would later visit Earth, years after, to construct more armies to guard the Cube. Infernacus was once a servant for Unicron, until Quintessa manipulated him as his new master. Quintessa would then murder the Quintessons, despite fearing them as gods. A battle between her and the Knights would take place, which resulted the destruction of their planet, known as Primus. The Knights robbed her of her Staff, and used it to lock her into stasis. They then launched the Cube into space. Before leaving for Earth, to protect the Staff, and guard Unicron’s remains. The Cube would crashed into a baron world that would become Cybertron.

I always believed that the Alt and Robot Mode differences were due to upgrades they took over time.
Optimus in his younger years had a red and blue scheme and once he entered the science division he took on a more blue and grey aesthetic.
Same thing for Shockwave and the others.

So does this kinda confirm that Sentinel was not a real Prime b/c he didn’t have the same markings that Optimus has that connects him to the o.g Primes

    • @J-Man1000
      @J-Man1000  Місяць тому +5

"Sentinel Prime is still a Prime, and it's important to understand that he is considered a direct descendant of the first Cybertronian, Primus. While this sounds surprising, Sentinel possessed knowledge of the Primes' downfall, the mysteries of the Allspark, and even managed to recreate the space bridge technology. He also has markings similar to Optimus Prime’s, which aligns him with one of the Primes. In contrast, Sentinel appears connected to a different Prime. I go deeper into talking about if Sentinel is a true or not in future video.
