This is exactly why right to repair is so important, and why it's so important for companies to provide tools such as the remote power on that Rode has.

In this case, its about cost and feasibility, it would be way more expensive for rode to let people sit down and desolder and resolder tiny components like these.
You have in this case right to repair, just no guarantee. Thats why its important to learn the skills to repair such small things and than, teach and help others. Do a repair cafe or such thing.

I love seeing people repair their devices. Most of us have a bad habit of just throwing things out but can easily be repair if some small amount of time was devoted to the repair. Fantastic work!
For people watching this and taking ideas for their future projects: If you are working with a wireless product and you see a copper trace that seems to go nowhere (sometime plated copper, other times with solder mask over it) and it looks like an inverted "F" or do not solder to it... You will change the impedance of the track and cause it to loose signal performance.

When things stop working, we can either spend time or money to regain the lost functionality. In our modern world, it's often more economical to spend the money vs the time - but economics isn't everything.
When you spend the time, rather than the money, you'll often find that the understanding and experience you've earned is just as valuable as the time spent - and that's not something easily bought with just money.

Back in the day I used to watch people turn gamecubes into portables. They often cut holes in plastic containers and epoxied stuff to Frankenstein cases for them, some made them out of wood and then put a plastic sheet over and put them into ovens to vacuum form cases (this was before 3d printers) but this reminds me of those old Frankenstein cases.
I'm all for repairing and building stuff out of scrap, gives stuff way more charm. Like my current phone case broke so I repaired it with some old jeans, a sewing machine, a stapler and some old cardboard and it even works better now than the og design. Now it can stand vertically and hang on door handles or shelves.

If something you have breaks always check the warranty policies in your area and at the vendor. For example: Here in Sweden we have warranty that is set by the vendor but there is a thing called "reklamation" (it sort of translates to complaint in English) that by law have to last at least 3 years and sometimes more.
My first Pebble watch stopped vibrating after several years of use and I just returned to the store with my receipt. they couldn't replace it (or give me a cash refund) because it had been discontinued several years prior but they could give me store credit matching the price i payed to get it no questions asked. And because I shop there from time to time it was great.
I've also gotten free repairs on a drawing tablet and didn't even have to pay for shipment.
So always check if you can get some kind of refund or replacement/repair for broken stuff. The retailer are often more concerned about losing a customer in the long run than giving out refunds. And they can often get a refund from the manufacturer anyways. and the staff often don't care about how it got damaged either.
If that doesn't work you can watch a great video like this one and fix it yourself.
    Thanks for the great videos
    /Bo

I used to repair digital cameras.
Devices are increasingly complex. Repair centers don't actually do anything to individual parts on boards. It's not viable to hire people with small electronics knowledge (too expensive).
A switch is easy enough to do, but you can't offer to do one thing, but then don't do something else. So companies opt for non-repair or part replacement.
If you know what part are faulty (such as in this case) you could repair many things using junk parts bought online :)
