I got sucked into the whole insta 360 thing, going back a few years I got the first ever insta360one X, which I found to be revolutionary from a content point of view - but as a company, I am a strong advocate for the Insta brand. I too got a bit fed up with GoPro's weaknesses such as awful battery life, and I also had the expensive media mod, which often caused buttons to stay on, or not turn off! I am not a triathlete like your goodself, and do more hiking, camping, random MTB rides, that kind a thing. However I am now getting into park runs, & seriously considering the little InstaGo 3 S, which seems to be getting rave reviews! Seems a neat option to attempt to film runs... Anyway, cheers, great vid - just subbed, all the best - Adam
@@justgetoutthereguy cheers Adam! I’m glad someone else has had the same media mod experience, whenever I use the GoPro without it they’re a lot more reliable, but then what’s the point in having the mod. Sounds fun - subbed too! 👊
Aww I feel like a matchmaker 🤣 Adam is a good friend of mine Dan. I sent him the link to this video as I'm fed up of getting a wet butt riding through the ford at Cannock chase multiple times while he tries to get the gopro to work 😮😂 @TriathlonDan
You absolutely can change the lens front on a GoPro (just twist it anticlockwise, it can be a be stiff at first) and you can buy replacements for about £20.
Looking forward to seeing how to get on with the insta camera looking at getting one myself! Like you go pro is buggy and the batteries aren’t they best in hot or cold weather
I find the batteries age quite quick, they’re good for the first 6 months but then die fast even the enduro ones. Let me know how you get on if you get one dude!
I don't know why go pro is so widely rated and used. I used one for a while making videos and it crashed so often. It was annoying to use and unintuitive with the buttons and touch screen. The batteries were often unreliable and died despite saying they had 60% remaining. I understand things go wrong but it seemed endless with the one I had. I think it was a GoPro 10 or 11. If it wasn't for my flaky go pro, I think I'd have attracted at least a million subscribers by now 🙃 I'm really impressed by that camera btw. I didn't even know they made one like this.
Hey Dan from a creation point of view, why did you choose the Insta 360 ace pro 2 vs an InstGo3? Im using my phone at the moment, but I am looking at getting a camera, any advice would be welcome.
I think the ace pro 2 is just more future proof, higher res, expandable memory, replaceable battery etc. The go3 looks good but I don’t think I’d remove the front bit and use it separately
I have the older version (Insta360 OneR ) with the 4k boost lens (not 360) and I've been very impressed with most of its capabilities... The software is gradually improving too with new features in the insta app for editing... The only thing that has really caused me any real disappointment is that occasionally the footage has been recorded, rotated 90 degrees for no obvious reason! This is a big problem as there was no way of rotating it back post production... I would really like to add the Go3s to my kit list as it's really small and lightweight so very easy to use for capturing running footage. I'm not quite in the position to spend £££ on that right now. 😂
Nice one! Ah yes there’s no rotation in the insta360 software is there, it’s to do with the orientation settings, I just ‘lock’ the GoPro so it doesn’t do that and if I want to rotate then I can in davinci resolve which is what I use for normal editing
My experience with the Insta360 after 3 yrs. has been good. Although, I do prefer the Insta360 GO3 because it is more flexible for different situations. I can't say the same for my GoPro. The audio is too unreliable. The DJI audio is much more reliable.

Exact that, they’re just so glitchy aren’t they! Haha yes I’m expecting the same now I have the insta360 🤣

@ interesting it just looks more usable smaller, mind you I would probably just go and lose it🫣
The replacement lens is only £20. Seems a good price considering the whole camera is just over £400.
Sounds good doesn’t it, I’ll still try not to drop it though 🤣
I use the ace pro 2 for my parkrun videos. By far the best one I’ve used, sound is great, picture even better. Good choice 👍
Nice one, cheers! Great work - just subscribed :)
@ oh legend cheers 😊

I still use my Garmin virbs.... 😅
Enjoy your new camera.
Wow haha nice one!
2 things for me... GoPro has online storage which is nice, 2 how secure is the clamp especially for MTB ?
Ah yes that is true, I use other cloud storage so that’s not really a benefit to me, it feels very robust
I'd like one that record's 360 so you don't need 2 cameras but can't justify it for the odd club ride
360 is a pain to edit too

That’s exactly it isn’t it, reliability is so important for this stuff
