The pics are amazing! And I know you wished it could be perfect, but for the non owning, microscope person that can barely take a picture of a rock with with my phone, I only have one hand and I don't have a phone holder that can help me so I snap and hope my phone can stabilize the image enough to show it's a rock! Lol! Good thing I'm not about pictures of my collection! But yours are perfect! And you need to get to reading! I know that this winter hasn't afforded us as much downtime as we planned on to get caught up with the things that like up while we are outside during the other seasons! But winter has been sporadic and short for the PNW this year! And trust, I am not complaining one bit! I hate the winter and the cold and especially the ice! But now your stack is getting big! And although I don't own a flat lap, I've seen enough people work on them and I've seen the results of a contaminated disk. And people don't realize the problems they make for themselves when they don't wash the stone well between each disc. And make sure you clean off the disk you are removing, thoroughly or you can have contamination problems from the gunk that is on your disc and as it dries, can flake off onto other discs. And it may seem really thin and just dust, but you couldn't see the diamonds either without magnification! People don't get that. Or they rinse their stone in their water supply and it runs out onto the next disc and you have scratches! I want a flat lap but I don't think I will ever be able to afford one now and I joined several used lapidary equipment sites and they either need too much work for me to even try with one hand or they are still too expensive! But it's still my wish because it is all that I can work on securely with one hand. So fingers crossed! But until then I enjoy all the improvements you come up with. I think it is just awesome! Thank you Jared, your SNS is something that we all look forward to! ❤
Great video, and nice book! Back before youtube and the internet was a thing, rockhound solely relied on books and workshops for knowledge and mastering their craft. It's something to think about as I am gathering all my knowledge from videos.
I remember in the mid80s being able to walk through there with zero bars of security, also you can see 15 foot sturgeon from the cliffs edge down into the river from there.
Hi-tech has great customer service. My very first order was via Amazon for the 10" saw with the vise attachment but the vise did not show up in the box. I called Hi tech and they sent it out the same day! I have also called them with newbie questions which they answered without making me feel like an idiot. Good company all around.
Hi there. It's been a long time since I've caught your SNS . Definitely going through some changes here in Colorado. I haven't even gone through this entire video yet but had to pause briefly and say, I definitely want that book!! I'm not much of a reader but I'm diving deeper into this particular area and the more information I receive, the better educated I become. I'm searching for it to no avail . Let me know if you can help. Now back to SNS 😊
If you offered prints of your macros for sale that might be a source of revenue. Print them up after ordered so you don't need an inventory. It's an efficient way to market your work. If you offer an option for framed prints beware of shipping glass. That could become a headache.

I have a small collection of rockhounding books and every one is from Goodwill! All under $10 most under $5! Thanks for the great video.
Thanks Jared and Sara! The word is Frugal. You are frugal and there is nothing wrong with that. Thanks for another interesting video.

So nice that high tech responded with replacement. Petrified wood so nice, it also takes a superb shine.
hey thanks for another SNS, always entertaining

I think they added the bars when they stopped having a person stay in the stone house to keep an eye on things.

I think the pics are amazing.
Thank you!
I’ve been to that interpretive trail. Bring a flashlight lol. The main building is fascinating and old. Nice pieces from Saddle mtn too.
It's a lovely trail.

I haven't read through the book yet, but what I've gotten through has been good. The plates are great. I love good mineral photography.
Thank you!
FYI--OMSI Museum in Portland has a fluorescent mineral display.
Thank you for the tip about that. I didn't know they had anything really rock related there.

I have been thinking of that some. I think it would be nice to see some of my images in print.
Nice sphere jared, did you trade with the goddess??? Lol!!! Good choice!!!
I got the goddess but it's a little too non family friendly for the weekly Saturday video which I know people watch with their kids.
