Hey Bill, I have learned from you that you can't have everything you want in a watch all the time unless it is bespoke. I have two idiosyncrasies about this watch that I won't talk about because it is otherwise a fantastic piece. This watch ticks so many boxes (pun intended). Price point, appearance selection, universal sizing, and component transparency, makes this watch a great choice for a beginner collector (like myself), as a gift (Father's Day is coming), and has the versatility to dress up or dress down. Bill, you are 2 for 2 with this watch and the Alexei. Thanks.
I was surprised how good the watch was for the price, Sean. One of the best buys for a watch with standard horology I've seen in a while. BTW, they all sold out. Take care, Bill
What a great pick up. The Salmon dial looks great but so do the other options, I really like the blue one. Definitely a very fair price for the package. The only thing I’m not a fan is the 39mm, much rather have it at 38mm or even 37mm.
What a great video Bill. Probably the best single watch review I’ve seen on UA-cam! I agree with you regarding honesty, they are upfront about the movement which I really appreciate. Great watch for the money. Best regards, Brian
I like what Dumoreau does. I have their initial tonneau watch on a bracelet, also salmon dial. I really appreciate the details you offer from newer lesser priced brands to more expensive but well priced high end brands. Well done Bill.
Hey John, thanks man! Buying super expensive or less expensive watches all deserve full details by the reviewer. The more we know, the better the decisions we can make. Take care, Bill
Hi Geoffrey, I never think about the water resistance because I never would wear it in the water... but knowing water resistance is also a measure of the sealing to keep out dust and debris, so it's nice to know. Take care, Bill
Great video on a very nice and attractive watch, especially the version you chose with the salmon dial, Bill. I recently stumbled upon an affordable watch that also impressed me by being very attractive and seemed to be of good quality from the pictures, videos, and reviews, so I ordered it. It's another microbrand that is also new to me. It's a rectangular piece with an integrated bracelet. Unfortunately, the Swiss movement is not visible, but I can live with that. It's the Maen Manhattan 37. It's a tribute to a short-lived VC model I hadn't heard of. I'm really looking forward to receiving it.
Thanks Mickey. My Fabergé Alexis also has a solid back, and they've fashioned the rotor after the Russian Imperial Eagle-doesn't matter that I can only see it with the back off. Enjoyable watch. Take care, Bill
G'morning & nice core bill 😀 . I like it, I also like the black dial but the blue dial version really caught my eye and I love the contrast that it has whistle white handset. You're right, for the money that's a great price for what you yet 🤠 ..
I scratched the salmon dial itch with the Ophion Velos which I know you like.Although nearly 3 times the price I think it’s justified.Stay in the pink Bill.
Wading, Ivan. Good watches can be found at different price levels-as well as expensive junk. The DN02 offers more, I believe, than most at the same price. Take care, Bill
I think heated screw are blue all the way even on the sides, bottom and groove, I think the one that are blue just on the top (steel color groove) are painted. This is just my thought, I have no confirmation of that.
You may be right Mr. Bluecatone. The screws in one of Marco Lang's watch were reported to cost €100 each ... yikes. I doubt the SW 210-1 do, but they look nice. Take care, Bill
Hi Bill. Your purchase is a very attractive looking watch, and an interesting alternative for this kind of price point. I mean, one thousand two hundred and fifty is only a few hundred more than what I paid for my Hamilton Intra-Matic. My kind of size too. All the best.
There is something reassuring about the ready availability of a thoughtfully created watch at this price point. In the great scheme of things, a nice watch like this seems to suggest that the decline and fall of horology seems to be not as near at hand as the doomsayers like to think.
Yes, Howard, and Carlo plans to bring fine horology back to the US-Huntington Beach ... memories of my surfing days and misspent youth. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci I am confident that your wife will sign an unsworn declaration under penalty of perjury to the effect that you are still in the midst of your misspent youth and that she has been waiting in vain for years for the mature Bill Sanders to make his appearance and has given up hope. Good question Rel. ETA movements are really different movements that came under the SWATCH umbrella. For example, the ETA 6498 is the UNITAS 6498 and the ETA 7001 is the Peseux 7001. Also, ETA has 4 different grades of the same caliber from Standard to COSC. Of course ETA has its own movements from when it was bought by SWATCH. If you like horological research, this is a rich area to delve into! Take care, Bill
Swiss Made only means that 60% of manufacturing costs are Swiss. The legal standards for the use of “Swiss Made” on a watch are very minimum standard , and the “Swissness” of a watch is very dependent on the brand and its reputation!
O Bud, how would you figure "not Swiss" in a watch? The Sellita is 100% Swiss, the case by Roventa-Henex is 100% Swiss ... and the watch is advertised as 100% Swiss. The Italian strap is not counted. Do you know of any "Swiss made" watches that are like 70% Swiss? You can be the "Watch Detective" and see if you can find some "Swiss made" watches with a big percent of non-Swiss parts. My guess would be parts in the movement or the case... dial? Hands? That's why we need someone like you to find out for us. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Hi Bill, congratulations on your new watch, it looks very nice, I’ve ordered the Royal blue one, following your example! Fun fact: Even the most Swiss 🧀 cheese isn’t made in Switzerland!
