Amtrak is amazing, I was in the Florida area taking the Amtrak from the Miami Metro rail while on my work vacation. When I saw it for the first time I was amazed, this Amtrak carriage was silver colored, quite large, very dashing, sturdy and strong. Suitable for those who want to relax on long trips. America is a repository of high-tech machines, dynamic, hard-working spirit. It's an unforgettable experience so far. I'm from far away Indonesia, Warm regards...everyone😃👍
OK, but I'm amazed at the Americans who welcome it so warmly, lots of cutting edge technology here and it's organized. I don't know how far China is and the quality of its creation power.
Whelp Amtrak 184 had a couple of K5LA horn changes, but hey that unit with the another K5LA has an awesome blast, and is such a beast! Awesome video man! 184 also lead the Texas Eagle few years ago
I remember when my friends and I were at Truckee and we heard that 184 was leading a Zephyr down to Emeryville. It was pretty cool that it was my first Amtrak heritage unit and we chased it down to Newcastle.
I live in Canada and Love Amtrak trains. My mon says when I grow up she will take me to States to see Amtrak trains. For now I am making videos on Canadian Trains. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video.
I would like to travel from New York to California by train myself. I know there are so many people that would say fly, but you learn nothing about this great country America when you are 30,000 feet in the air. Let the naysayers keep their airplanes, I want trains!! Besides you can't crash a train into a skyscraper building.
@@chessiesystemrailfanman3741 The only time I enjoyed flying, is when I was in the Air Force , other than that , If I can’t get there by road or rail , I can’t get there
@@tonyfrancesco3701 that's amazing because I considered joining the Air Force after the September 11, 2001 attacks. I always felt if I can't control the airplane myself then I don't want to get into it. And I thank you for your service in the United States Air Force, much appreciation to you!
Mike!! Will you be attending the Great Western Steam Up at the Nevada State RR Museum on 4th of July Weekend!? Over 10 Steam Loco's will be active and on display over the 4 days. LMK if your gonna be there!!
Of all the Amtrak Heritage units I've seen, 184 has been the one to never come in front of my glass because it doesn't ever seem to head to the east coast. Though, we do have a plethora of 50th Anniversary units out east right now, including a video of 3 I caught in one day on the Keystone Corridor that I'll upload this week! I really like your selection of scenes, especially the one at Edmonds. I'd love to see that spot some day, take care.
Stellar video! I personally think that Amtrak P42DC 184 is one of my favorite Amtrak heritage units! Mainly because 184 has a narrow font K5LA right now witch is pretty nice seen as most of Amtrak’s Genesis locomotives have raised letter K5LA’s in 2022 sadly.
It would be interesting to see another Phase 4 Heritage Unit that wears the silver face Phase 4 besides the NEC variant. But as always great work and videos you’ve got!
Great video, CoasterFan. Recently, AMTK 184 had recently arrived in Chicago on No.6 yesterday. If I remember correctly, it's currently at the Chicago shops getting maintenance work done and getting ready to hit the open road again.
Never really payed attention to passenger service until I came across your channel awhile back. I couldn't imagine being next to the tracks when they come by. I bet its a rush 😁
CoasterFan2105 The Amtrak 184 had a cool Horn K5LA not as Loud As the Other One The Empire Builder This K5LA was a much louder blast Your videos are Awesome I'll definitely will be waiting for your next video,Who knows maybe one day I'll take Amtrak from Fort Lauderdale Florida to New York it's not a direct trip It goes west to Tampa and then back east For the remainder of my Journey it takes 48 hours ,Or California Just for The trip,California is 4days have to take Amtrak to Washington and then wait 10 hours for another Amtrak to California, You sure do one Fantastic job on your video's,Stay Safe 👍👍👍👍👍
When the locomotives go in for heavy work, all safety devices are inspected and cleaned. Horns are often swapped between units because they frequently get taken off the locomotive for cleaning.
They're for an old train control system called Automatic Train Stop (ATS). There's a corresponding bracket that's installed on the trucks of leading locomotives that run in that area. The system stops trains automatically if they pass a red signal. It was mostly retired last year now that PTC has been activated.

Why has the P42DC Amtrak 184 train put the new whistle?
When the locomotives go in for heavy work, all safety devices are inspected and cleaned. Horns are often swapped between units because they frequently get taken off the locomotive for cleaning.
Boy I'd hate to be stuck in the car with the square tire......
0:31 What are these two things for on the sides of the tracks?
Could be axle fault detectors, if not that they might be automatic signal controllers.

I think she's the only one left of the OG heritage units or is 145 still around?

What Amtrak heritage unit paint scheme do you think is the best?
Wow

Sadly 130 and 184 are the last two 40th Anniversary locos left, as the rest are in storage and are collecting rust
now 184 is gone as well
145 is back out I think but unfortunate that 184 was painted to Phase V
Is it coming to SoCal
Did it get rid of its bindi?
First and cool
No!
It was just repainted into phase V
🤣

Why was it repainted though?
