Great video , subbed. EQ is always something I'm continuously learning about
Lenny you are amazing thank you. Will be sending you some of my work.
NIce! Very interesting stuff!
Thanks Lenny!!! :)
this should have more views, thanks so much
I hope it helps. Thanks for the kind words!
Cool videos! Not sure why you're getting so little views, you definitely deserve more!
@Enoxitus thanks for the kind words. I have been contacted by wonderful people from all over the world. It's really cool.
Sub'd!
What if I do the same with Dynamic Eq? Would it result in a better audio?
I can't say that using Dynamic EQ would always yield better audio. Dynamic EQ is another tool that helps shape the audio. I believe dynamic EQ can help when a frequency band causes intermittent problems during a recording.
I have an AKG C414, is it reasonable to expect RMS before post production to be above -30? After I have my DB on the mic set to 0, HZ set to 80. My RMS is around -39 before post, and once I normalize I land at -22.
Hi Nastasia, Can you clarify a few things for me first? Are you asking about getting a proper recording level to capture the best quality? Or are you concerned about where you should be before sending a file to post? Is It just a single voice track?
@@HeyLennyB thanks for the quick reply! it's a single voice track for audiobook, this would be the file I send to post. Although I would love to make sure that I have the highest quality possible before editing.
Ok good. When searching for a proper recording level for a voice over track, I suggest measuring with a peak meter. Let me know which recording software you're using and I can give you some specifics. In the meantime, take a look at these free tips on my website (bit.ly/FreeVoiceRecordingBasics) and take a look at the levels section. It does a good job explaining the exact level you're looking for and why. I'm happy to answer more questions for you.
@@HeyLennyB perfect! I just submited for a quote on your consultation. Id love to get something set up at your earliest convenience. Im diving in on a big project monday and would love to have your input before I get into the project.
Can you tell me if this microphone is manufactured only in one place or does it have several places that manufacture it in several factories in different places in different countries?
Hi, I don't really know for sure. I expect that if you reach out to them directly, you'll get the correct answer. www.akg.com/
Good luck!
Can I do this with audacity? If so how
You can do some processing with Audacity. However, the stock plugins don't offer much detail/control. The latest version of Audacity is compatible with VST3 plugins. So, you can add third party plugins to Audacity and accomplish a similar type of processing you see in this video.
Do you recommend this microphone akg c414 Xls for voiceover?
Yes, I believe it would be a great choice. To be honest, It's a little overkill because you should only use the Cardiod pickup pattern for voice over. If you also use it to record instruments, it's definitely worth it.
@@HeyLennyB You recommend to buy akg c 414 xls microphone or buy a tlm 103?
Well, I own the TLM103 and I love it. That's what you hear my voice recorded on in my newest videos. If you are considering microphones at that level, I'd also suggest the MKH 416 (Sennheiser), or the Austrian Audio OC18. I don't own either of them but I will some day. I've heard many voiceovers with those two and I really like the sound. The truth is that you can't go wrong with any of them. Let me know if you have further questions. Happy to help.
@@HeyLennyB I want to buy a microphone, but I don't know which type. I just want you to recommend a good microphone and a fairly cheap price.
And I want to know what is your preferred audio engineering program to use for voiceover, and is it possible for me to contact you on WhatsApp
