You can get solar for at least lighting and pumping water. When our transformer was stolen, I stayed 22 days without elec and I decided I'd had enough. I installed solar. Worse still, I was fully working remotely. I realized that the food thing about solar is that you can do it but by bit, just start with a few panels. I'm fully on solar now and no longer use KPLC.

Welcome home! I remembered when you applied for the light and it was taking a long time, you went into the office and spoke to someone. I am suggesting you go into an office and explain to them the disadvantages of not having light. The spoilage of all your food items in the fridge and freezer, lack of water, etc. Try it, nothing beats a face to face.
