Instructions says to add drops of vegetable oil to inlet.. how did that go for you? Is it necessary?

i did not know this, I have used the pump about 7 times to empty out a flood in my basement and to empty out the bottom of my above ground pool, I haven't had any problems yet but i think adding the vegetable oil would be a good idea and would not hurt anything, I will add some to mine

Mine keeps leaking from the input shaft from the motor. Do where it connects to the impeller the back. Do you have any recommendations? Does yours leak like this?

yea mine leaks there too, I think because I overheated it the first time I ran it because not enough water was getting to the pump, the pump does come with a replacement seal that you could use to maybe replace the seal there and fix the problem, I have not tried that yet

you may have the inlet hooked up to the outlet and the outlet hooked up to the inlet
