    Charlie Hopkinson is a comedic impressionist, impersonator, voice guy, whatever you want to call it who specialises in voices from current television shows and films. His standup is a character act about a retired maths teacher, his standup set includes impressions of Sir David Attenborough, Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Peaky Blinders, Tommy and Arthur Shelby and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.
    Always looking to update my roster I look to try out subscriber suggested impressions in the impressions challenge series before honing the best ones. Recently I have added Peaky Blinders and Marvel / Avengers characters to my arsenal!
    I currently run a number of series including:
    Impression Reels - The very best impressions I can do, Including LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Cartoons .etc
    Impression Challenges - Trying out new impressions in a less polished form.
    Impression Dramatic song covers - Voices of Reason.
    Low Budget Animation - Stickman sketch remakes of Iconic Tv shows and movies.
    How to do Impressions - An audience lead tutorial series where I attempt to pass on my Impressions knowledge.
    Dubs - Comedic dubs of iconic scenes with new dialogue, (My Peaky Blinders and Lord of The Rings dubs have grossed over 6 million views on Facebook)
    Standup - Clips from Standup sets I have performed over the last year.
    Comedy Sketches - Comedy Sketches
    I started learning impressions in 2012, at the age of 20. You can follow my full impressions journey in my new ‘How to do impressions’ tutorial series
    After graduating from the University of Warwick in the summer 2013 he took 4 months out to concentrate on UA-cam videos full time, including producing his most viewed video to date ‘Morgan Freeman and 40 other impressions’ with just over 12 million views. This foray into being a ‘full time UA-camr’ was cut short as he went travelling for 3 months before starting a 2 year teaching Graduate scheme with Charity ‘Teach First’.
    While teaching he has performed in and narrated the 4 episode series ‘Lookalikes’ as Morgan Freeman. The show and the narration received a positive reception. The show aired on Channel 4 during the prime time slot of Friday 10pm for three weeks. It is now currently available on Netflix. Charlie also performed with other well known impressionists for an unaired pilot.
    Charlie has worked for several prominent brands in relation to their products, including google and formula 1.
    Since the summer of 2016 Charlie has once again dived into the world of UA-cam, for the first time producing content on a weekly basis. He is also focusing on live performance; he has performed in live venues a total of 3 times to date.
    His top impressions include:
    Morgan Freeman (Red -Shawshank redemption)
    Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf - Lord of the Rings)
    Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman - Breaking Bad)
    Alan Rickman (Snape - Harry Potter)
    Michael Caine (Alfred - Batman)
    Jon Snow (Game of Thrones)
    Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carribean)
    Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglorious bastards)
    Alec Guiness (Ben Kenobi - Star Wars)
    Agent Smith (The Matrix)
    Sean Bean (Boromir - Lord of the Rings)
    Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield - The Hobbit)
    Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister - Game of Thrones)
    Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)
    Bryan Cranston (Walter White - Breaking Bad)
    Frank Underwood (House of Cards)
    Tommy Shelby (Peaky Blinders)

      This joke was truly magnificent. A bloody *PP transition*, when panning out to that lovely parchment map of the place that we've been swooping over for weeks could have done exactly the same job in far more elegant, consistent and less boring-meeting fashion.
      After all that expensive and impressive fiery destruction, who would sign off on something as cheap as that looked? It's like having an actor read a stage direction because you can't think how else to end the scene.

    Episode 7 has doubled down on bargain-brand callbacks to the Lord of the Rings movies: hiding from orcs is the new hiding from black riders, horse doesn’t want to go home is the new Brego (he’s even called Berek), Halbrand’s wound is the new morgul blade, etc. When they aren’t ripping off the Peter Jackson movies, they completely tear up the existing story where Galadriel is 3000+ years old, has a husband and daughter, has studied magic with a literal angel, and has gifts of foresight and prophecy. Yet she couldn’t keep track of the blade/key that would doom an entire region. She’s definitely worth spending an entire ring on when they do start making rings of power, if she’s not too busy with her Halbrand/Celeborn love triangle that they are going to force into the story.

    • @TheLyricalCleric
      @TheLyricalCleric Рік тому +4

      @@joshjones6072 Indeed-bad sequels/prequels just imitate the original, they don’t elevate the story. If they wanted to make a show that would have been a gritty game-of-thrones style, they could have gone with the downfall of Arnor, split amongst three warring brothers and the Witch-King of Angmar. Lots of great opportunities for storytelling and they have the rights to it. Instead, we are being given dollar-store rejects of the Akallabeth, which Amazon doesn’t have the rights to. How are they going to show the downfall of Numenor without showing the downfall of Numenor? It’s ironic that they chose the second age-the age of man’s hubris, his certitude in his own superiority and the absolute apocalypse that men bring down upon themselves and middle earth due to their own short sightedness. That’s ironically exactly what the show is doing, although they don’t have the wit to realize it.

      @OptimusSublyme Рік тому

      I think Halbrand is going to make his “I’m Sauron” or “I’ve been called by many names” reveal next episode right at the end after he’s healed of his wound so you won’t have to worry about a love triangle for much longer.

    • @TheLyricalCleric
      @TheLyricalCleric Рік тому +1

      @@OptimusSublyme As much as I want to believe the pain will soon be over, I know in my heart that the showrunners don’t have a motivation for Galadriel. She’s their Captain Marvel, the appeasement by aging white male executives who are hoping to capture “the women demographic” without actually bothering to make a character. And this is in a season with Disa, who is a devoted wife and strong communicator! But Galadriel is a bad wife and mother who isn’t even looking for her husband’s body or presumably taking care of their daughter Celebrian, whom Elrond is supposed to marry! The only real motivation she has is in relation to the men in her life: Sauron, Halbrand, Celeborn, etc. She can only either love or hate these men, because anything else would require her to have wants and desires of her own. She can’t have that or the central tension of the entire plot falls apart-like, who cares if Sauron comes back? Some piddly Maia, like Galadriel hasn’t literally been chilling with Melian the Maia for hundreds of years learning protective healing and shrouding magic to keep her realm secret and increase her magical foresight. Who am I kidding-the showrunners made Galadriel into Bella Swan, and they just need to slot in a darkly handsome Edward Cullen. If Halbrand goes bad, even odds that Galadriel defends him and falls in love with him, just so that later she can be betrayed when he is Sauron and she must hate him. But also love him! But also hate him! But also…

If it takes a couple years to film every season, and they want to do 5 seasons, it's gonna take at least 8 years from this point on, probably more, possibly way more. The actors are gonna age hard. It really feels like those sleazy show-runners are milking this for all it's worth, for their own gain.

    • @bencarlson4300
      @bencarlson4300 Рік тому +15

      @@enjoythestruggle To me it feels like the opposite of what happened to GoT. D&D were offered as many seasons as they wanted, they could leave if they wanted, they could do anything basically. They had all the freedom imaginable and did nothing.
      This show, RoP, feels like a committee at Amazon came up with strict plotpoints and demographics they wanted to hit, found some buffoons that would do exactly what they were told, and had them write in a way that included everything on the committee's wishlist. There is zero logical progression and no sensical character motivations, but every character ticks a box either from a comedy, diversity, mystery, or "drama" perspective. So, from a corporate perspective, they, whether that be the showrunners or Amazon, will milk this show for every penny until there is no audience left watching.
