I have seen your art videos everywhere- and I don’t know how to express my gratitude . Your videos inspire me to keep on drawing! To keep on painting and too keep on going forward. As an artist myself, I find it so relaxing to watch other artist’s videos and see their process and hear their thoughts. You put so much hardwork into your videos and the animes ive seen and loved so much , you yourself, created some of those backgrounds!!! Thank you- thank you so much!!!
Watching you laying down paint on your illustrations satisfies my day.
Same here! Its sooo relaxing
The interview was really interesting , hearing your thought process and how you look at things gave me new ideas on how to approach what I want to do. And it’s magical how you transformed the reality of Shibuya in your painting. Thank you for sharing, it’s always a joy.
Dopiero teraz oglądam Twoje wideo i nawet nie wiesz, jak się cieszę, że wystąpiłeś w Japanology Plus! Uwielbiam oglądać tę serię, a jeszcze milej zobaczyć tam tak świetnego artystę :)
I watched the NHK episode the other day. It was so exciting, fantastic episode!
I saw you on NHK World!
such a beautiful painting! made me want to go back to ink + watercolor, which I did today, so thank you for that :)
Your art is stunning. I wonder why I haven't discovered your channel sooner. You should make videos such as tutorial or art talk. What inspired you and how it make you fall in love wih art, etc. We would love to know more about you and your amazing stuffs
Congratulations Matt, you deserve the best, for your work and your kindness
Peter Barakan interviewing Mateusz?! Whaaat?! I think Christmas came early this year 😍😍😍😍😍 Going to watch it now
I just watched the Interview. I have been enjoying Japanology Plus for many years. What a treat to see two wonderful things come together! I hope it was a positive experience for you?
Hopefully someone at the city planning office will see this picture and make it a reality. Cities should be for people not against them. I wholly agree with you that the randomness of putting up high rises in a hurry goes against people and their movements. A river project like this has been realized in Taichung, Taiwan. It’s called the green river. It draws in many people and invites them to linger and enjoy themselves. I am lucky to have been able to experience it. Wishing you and Kanna all the best! (I am glad she was featured in the segment, too)
I love NHK World! I am looking forward to that show
You're now in the same tier with the Master, Hayao Miyazaki. Featured in NHK Japan. Amazing! Amazing!
I would have quitted watercolors definitely, I was very discouraged back then, then I discovered you last year... can't express enough my gratitude towards you and your works, I am so glad I found the drive to continue thanks to your inspiring videos. Thank you so much for sharing your art.
You made a scene that people would pass by without a second glance into a painting that people would stare at in awe admiring it! I really love it and I appreciate how you share your process with us.
I saw a 2 page spread featuring you and your work in a fountain pen magazine as well while I was getting my haircut, nice dude.
There will be more in the next one too ;) still a bit of a secret thing :)
Beautiful picture. Thank you!
so ... when I found out that someone of my nationality was so successful in Japan, the country I love ... I automatically smiled. What you are doing is amazing and it really inspires me to act. In a word - you are an example to follow❤️
I watch your vids from time to time - they are quite lovely and make me miss Japan. Was there just before the pandemic and can't wait fora vaccine to come out so I can return.
Great work, the place has a friendly Ghiblish warmth. This clear blue watercolor hue is incredible.
Very nice painting! It was great to see you on nhk world, it was a very inspiring interview/conversattion. Thank you for sharing
I love the Japanology series! Congratulations on your interview
Mateusz, I've just seen that we're getting one of your works -Tokyo Storefronts- in Spain.
Now that I've discovered your work, let me tell you that i love it. Big fan of yours and a new follower here, on Instagram and everywhere!

This is stunning! I love the network of lines and the simplicity of painting! What a beautiful touch you have with this style! ❤️
So beautiful 😄
I agree with your thoughts on this area as I have been there. I like your rendition a lot. TFS
Shibuya is also the home of Hachiko. The loyal dog that all Japanese love...
Man it looks pretty good
I love the documentaries!!! It is great to see you from someone elses angle and how others see your work!!! Amazing!

I love it! The contrast between the more natural/hand made elements and the more modern ones is really charming, and you really convey a place I would want to visit. Also your storefront book is being released in Spain, where I live! Will buy it when is out ^^

I really love your videos!!💗
Unbelievable
Un trabajo muy vivo y colorido, si no tuviera la línea hasta diría que es impresionista. 🤔🤓
Thanks so cool congrats on NhK this is really grand! Amazing i really happy for you for a time be in japan was my biggest dream you encompass almost all of it in your videos , just don't stop! Which music is this?
It’s just some tune I pulled from epidemic sound. I looked for “laid back” and “funk”. 👍
This totally made my day, I mean look at those blues! So pretty! thank you so much for sharing, stay sae, and send my love to Kana as well. :)
Love this so much - I really wish there is a place in Tokyo like this.
Man I love your artworks and you're so amazing and inspiring 🥺✨
So fine and calming every time :) Are you ever going to paint any Polish scenery by chance?
Maybe some day yes. I would like to do a story set in Europe too.
Great work!!! Too relaxing to view. I look forward to your book in Latin America by tomodomo.
👏👏👏
i meant it when i said i wanted to live in your paintings
I was checking your channel yesterday wondering why you haven’t uploaded in a while 👍
Thank you for sharing your art and stories! Your detailed watercolor paintings are so inspiring to watch! ♥️ If you don't mind, may I ask if you stretch the watercolor paper before painting?
Nope, just use it straight on the watercolor paper block most of the times..
@@mattjabbar I appreciate the reply, thank you!
Love this Mateusz, how long did it took you to finish?
About 2 days of work 👍
Hi!! I hope you read this message, but I'm asking for help, I'm from México and I need an ink waterproof to use with pencils and Fountain Pens, but the one that you have mentioned: "Sailor Seiboku Ink", is extremely expensive here, like 100 dollars, so, you know another brand more cheap that would be waterproof too?? I use also watercolors too, so, that's why I need something like yours to work better!
PD:I love your work so much, I think I began to work more and be more inspired since I met you! You are so so cool man, continue like that!!
Mateusz do you have any thoughts on how to balance the line work with the watercolors? It's something I struggle with, I tend to do too much hatching and line work. Love your work. Thanks for the video.
I avoid hatching an use blue so the line is not so prominent. You also have to keep in mind the size of your painting vs the line thickness. Experiment and see what works. 👍
🌻
Amazing work as usual! Can I ask why do you use Schminke watercolor instead of Holbein that are way cheaper in Japan?
Just preference really. I got a big set as payment for one of my first commissions and use the brand since. They are also really popular in Japan. But I also have and like Holbein too. 👍
@@mattjabbar Thank you 😍
How long does it take to finish a piece this detailed? I have a hard time being patient when I paint with watercolor because it takes so long.
For a piece like this - about a day and a half. For some of my digital paintings - it can take up to 4 days even.
Hey, I was wondering how you practiced art when you first started? It would be great if I could know since I’m a beginner but I really want to be someone who can draw setting well. I am also open to the answers of anyone else who see this comment. Thank youuuuu!
Hi Mateusz, would you ever sell prints of this? I love this piece!
Yes, I’ll put it on society6 ;)
Or maybe also on DFTBA when the current one sells.
I've started doing water color for about 4 months now and I keep going back and forth between using like thick pigment style so I can correct my mistakes easily, but some how the thin(using a lot of water) keep coming back I do enjoy it a lot, I started with wet on wet so it's kinda a habit. I still cant figured out which one is better way for me, I don't know if you're going to see this, but if you do, could you give me some tips to figured things out?
Sorry for my English btw😅
