- Does the water marble nail polish technique work for resin?
Today I’m trying the water marble nail polish technique with resin. Back in the day I used to do this technique for my nails and since there’s a similar trend going around using spray paint, it inspired me to bring out my old nail polishes and see if it works with resin.
In this video I’m going to be using polyurethane resin as it is fast curing AND it cures opaque white which will help the designs I get with my nail polish really stand out.
*When working with resins make sure you are working in a well ventilated room and be wearing the right PPE. Resin is a chemical and can make you sick if you don't take the right precautions.*

I think a better technique would be to cast the resin pieces first and let them cure. Then pop them out of the moulds and dip the resin pieces directly into the paint. You could take a toothpick and dip the tip of it into some UV resin and touch it to the back of the resin piece and cure it Which would give you a nice little handle to dip the resin down into the water so you don't get your hands dirty.🎉
yess I’ll have to try it that way. 😂
Yes, I've done the spray paint and the nail polish marbling a couple of years ago. I was learning resin and was trying anything and everything with it :) I found that I got a load of funky effects if I diluted the nail polish a little with acetone first too. Great video, love your makes
oohhh, that’s interesting mixing in the acetone first. 🤔 If I had an out of the home craft room I’d be more adventurous but I’m too afraid that the resin will react badly with some of these things.
@@JBKonsCreations My craft room is my spare bedroom. it'd be awesome to have a separate studio woudn't it
@@miniscenesgb Definitely! 😁
If you make the resin shapes first, back them with tape before dipping. You should be able to take the tape off without destroying the polish dip coat, even if you have to use a blade at the edges.
Yess. You could also use liquid latex or wood glue to create that barrier. :)
They are so pretty! 💞 Great use for old(ancient) polish!! 👏👏 Yes, please make the pieces, dip them and show the results!! 🤗 That sounds awesome!! 😍 14:24 They might really pop on black(and I'm not a fan of black...)! ⚫️
oohh yesss. Black would look good too especially with the neon colors! 🥰🌸
@@JBKonsCreations Have fun playing with it! 💞
❤ this was so fun
I love the colors and that’s pretty cool with the nail polish.
Thankyou! Have a lovely weekend🌸
Try spraying the surface of the water with nail polish remover before dropping the nail polish on the surface of the water this could help with the spreading of the colours or even spray the nail polish after you drop it on the water and see if that helps to explode the colours outwards as it’s for removing the nail polish off your nails it could help in spreading the nail polish.
I think pre making your moulds first would be the best option rather than dipping the moulds. Again you can clean off any nail polish that’s on the parts you don’t want covered with acid-tone once you pull them out of the water.
Back when I was a teenager if my nail polish got thick over time I used nail polish remover to thin it down again, not the best but it worked for me, if you do that with the nail polish before you start this will help with it spreading out better specially if you don’t plan on using them as nail polish any more at least it will make using them easier.
I used that kind of resin. I love it! I just hate it cures white and if you add colors it comes out lighter than wanted.
I know what you mean, per-coloured things don't work for everything :( Supposedly there's also clear polyurethane resin...I have to see if I can get my hands on some.
@@JBKonsCreations yes I finally saw that lol. I have some new stuff now but I can't remember if I chose clear tho 😂
I think I'm going to need to start leaving myself notes on my supplies lol
But I would think it would say cures white or clear tho because my white curing stuff says it cures white 🤔
It’s not really new . I was wondering when someone was going to do this. It’s neat stuff
the polyurethane resin you linked says not available. is there another place to purchase or a different brand you recommend?
Hii Let's Resin has restocked the resin if you're still interested. :)
I love this idea. Did you use cold or warm water for dipping?
I used warm water on the cooler side. :)
Warm water is better, it will spread out!
Ive heard that using the same branded nail polishes helps too!
Looking forward for the next video
Already working on it 😁
These turned out pretty.😊
Thankyou! There’s potential! I think my next go should be better 🤞🏻hehe :)
