Hello Heidi! I was prohibited from chatting or commenting for the past 6 months. I've been here, just silent

OH!! IMPORTANT POINT HERE! Not many plants like to grow near Black Walnut trees so if anyone is thinking of planting some saplings don't plant them near your garden or anything that you want to grow.

  • @Earth_Rocker

We have these trees in one of our neighborhood parks. Last year, I saw a guy sitting on the ground hulling the walnuts & placing them in a lg bag. It turns out he was taking the walnuts & leaving the hulls. This year, I will be the one collecting some.😊

We have a black walnut tree in our yard and I never thought to grind the hulls into powder. I have only used it to make a tincture for parasite cleanse. Thanks for another great idea. I will try to steal some more from the squirrels this year. They really don't like to share with me and every time I try to take some and hide them to dry, they find them and take them back. It is the funniest thing. Just when I think I have found a good spot, they will find it too. I finally managed last year to succeed.

We have always used the hulls when they are green and rub the hulls on ringworm when the kids were growing up. It would kill/treat the ringworm faster than using iodine from the store..

The beauty of using it for dyeing wool it does not need a mordant! One less task. The varying colors are the different chemicals or minerals, such as a copper pot or iron pot. Adding ammonia etc. Fun to experiment

I have black walnut trees. My yard at times becomes hazardous with those very hard walnuts, but I am going to collect and start using it. ❤ thanks

We have a tree 2 houses down, the squirrels enjoy them! I collected some years ago, but they all had little worms in - guess the alcohol would make short of them😅

Yes, God is good ALL the time!

This is fascinating! We have two huge black walnut trees and we find them annoying. The squirrels like to gather them and hide them everywhere. Plus the ground around the trees is not conducive to gardens. I also do not like eating walnuts, even if I could get them open. But I would definitely like to make a tincture out of them. This fall I will start collecting them for this purpose. Thanks for the great info!

"There's probably a lot of food we shouldn't be eating"....That made me laugh!! So so true!! We have a couple trees and darn, those hulls are usually loaded with worms so I haven't done much with them. When they first drop off the tree is doesn't appear to have worms, but I believe they get in there during the growing phase. I researched it years ago and can't really remember how that worked. Also, wear gloves if working with them - they stain big time!! This may be the year that I give it a go.

  • @ColRubyDimplesManacha

Great timing! I've finally located the general area of our walnut trees. This year I'm gonna beat the squirrels to them! Thanks for everything you do, Heidi!

  • @jodylagos4543

Just wanted to thank you for all you do. I listen very carefully as you say the most helpful thing in passing. Such as hair loss if taking too much vitamin D. That was just what I needed

Perfect timing with this video, Heidi! I love how God works. I was just watching your chicken videos for the past couple of days per your request and have been considering purchasing black walnut hull powder for my girls. Thank you again for all your help! Have a blessed day!😊
