I don't get game for peacocking. I just try to spread love 😘. If UA-cam was like it should be I could blow up this channel in a month. Sadly times have changed.
You're all are a incredible bunch of people, for some reason the UA-cam algorithm suggested me this channel 4 months a go. Thanks for the entertainment.
"He has painted and displayed a picture of leyland depicted as a peacock human" Holly shit, inventing fursonas and using them to drive rich people insane
*UNBELIEVABLY THE LACK OF ROOMS IS KILLING PUBS* in Britain - in the 90's they were al knocked out and opened up into giant "bars" rather than the traditional series of rooms "the tap room" "the lounge bar" etc. well in 2024 heating is unaffordable, the beer is expensive, so instead of opening ONE small room for 12 people you have a GIANT space with 12 people dotted around the edged that has to close at 8pm cos they cant afford the heating
I wonder if Leland's wife was on the very long trip with him, or if she was home during the whole remodeling process. If she was at home the whole time,, it may explain why Whistler "broke in" to "finish the painting."
Hi, I'm that friend for a bunch of other people, for example, the other night a friend asked what pix I wanted them to take on their DC vacation, and I said I needed them to go to the Smithsonian NMNH and take pictures of the temp exhibit with a bunch of Hokusai shit on display, and yes, I'm being VERY NORMAL right now.
I love Art Nouveau so much, it's definitely my favourite art-movement! I'm so glad that it's kind of getting a new time in the spotlight to rival Art Deco, it deserves it considering its ideas of equality, the co-modification and democratization of art and beauty, and the first inklings of political rebellion in art
Have you ever considered doing an episode on Skywalker Ranch? Might be interesting, particularly concerning the stained glass and George's (first) wife.
It is true they do not make rooms anymore. A few summers ago I had the pleasure of visiting a house that had served as headquarters to General Walter and for a house in the middle of nowhere Spain, it had the dankest decor and some of the coolest "asian-esque" wallpaper I´ve seen in my life.
When RMS Olympic was scrapped, her first class lounge's interior, parts of the grand staircases, and various other fittings were transplanted into the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick after being purchased at auction by the hotel's owner in 1935. That's the latest example of a room worth transplanting that I know of. Granted, it's not an art museum, but it's probable anyone visiting town could walk through the revolving door (Olympic's former first class restaurant entrance), through the lobby, and peek into the dining room to admire the woodwork for a couple of minutes.
Is there a chance that you will add a subscription option to UA-cam so that I can watch the bonus episodes here? This show is an instant favourite of mine thank you
I just found out Whistler was from Lowell Massachusetts which honestly explains a lot. Breaking into a house so you can add *more peacocks* after getting fired off the project is a very Lowell move.
i really really like Nocturne in Black and Gold - The Falling Rocket, the painting by james mcneill whistler, the guy in the video everyone hated it and it ruined his career
The art that drives people insane has to be that ridiculous honeycomb basket installation ....... THE VESSEL in New York .... that's a series of sprawling staircases that people threw themselves off of so often they had to close it.
Art is a public good, which means that any place with art is a public space. Therefore, any attempt to get between an artist and their art is an obstruction an artists basic right to roam.
“A second peacock has hit the room.”

The algorithm sometimes gets it right
The world works in mysterious ways, I found out about WTYP through comments on the 'Shake Hands With Danger' video
My first suggestion was the Ashtabula Horror.
I'm so glad I subscribed.
I found them through the comments section in Ars Technica of all places
What the duck? I think I never got so much attention in my 50 years, I would like to thank everyone that rocked my world today. Thanks 🙏.
Justin's comedic timing is AMAZING.
Timing *and* delivery. Terrific deadpan.
He's really perfected his craft
@@Aloemancer - Exceptional storyteller
"He has painted and displayed a picture of leyland depicted as a peacock human"
Holly shit, inventing fursonas and using them to drive rich people insane
Somehow the entire saga now recontextualises the Mr Bean movie as the ghost of Leyland possessing a simple-minded victim to get revenge on Whistler.
And then goes off to steal Leyland's wife.
Classic.
I keep telling people, art skill is a _weapon_ that can be deployed against people. No one should have so much power.
a tradition that is continued to this day

"You can't unfuck your wife, Leland!"
I freaking love Art Nouveau, along Art Deco it's my favourite type of architecture...
Same. I saw the title and I’m like “wait….whats wrong with Art Nuevo ?
Ah yes, the two genders of early 20th century art & architecture.
@@Bluecho4 and I love them both like children :3
I cannot wait to show this episode to my friend that has the fancy art degree. I'm sure they will be completely normal about it.

I was beginning wonder if the means of production in podcast factory had been seized...
Not until WTYP shows up at a stock symbol for an IPO, earning billions (but none for the founders)
Did Whistler ever work with yellow wallpaper? Maybe decorate a nursery in a colonial mansion?
Picking up and moving and/or stealing a whole room like you're downloading off the sims 4 gallery
Also, can't believe nobody made a "peacuck" joke
You wouldn't download a room.
Yessss my fave style, i can't wait to learn all the bad things about it 🥴
Integrating the phrase, "I'm fixin' to go crazy, Peacock Room style!" into my vernacular.
The painting was supposed to be the focal point of the room, but we're not calling it "The 'The Princess from the Land of Porcelain' Room" now are we?

Okay this is the closest I've come to getting on the patreon, this is some of their funniest stuff yet
Its so cheap, just do it, i promise it's worth it
My grandmother was a McNeill, JMW was a _?_-times removed cousin and her 1880s house was a mix of Japanese art and his prints

It is my goal to find the peacock room, sit in it and listen to this podcast episode
It's in the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington DC.
Admission is free.
Have you ever considered doing an episode on Skywalker Ranch? Might be interesting, particularly concerning the stained glass and George's (first) wife.
I am losing my shit in a Subway because of this.
Fact: 90% of peacock painters quit right before creating their Magnum Opus.
It only took 1:15 for Liam to get bleeped.
What happened to WTYP merchandise? At Solidarity Superstore, it's just a blank page
Generic comment for algorithem purposes.
Im really into the virus ceiling lamps

I love this so much. This is some King in Yellow Lovecraft shit combined with psychological class warfare.
Hey I actually like art nouveau
It has its place... like watches...I love those rectangular watches with the giant 7s and the tiny 3s
I like it in some things, not in others... as graphic design, hell yeah, but not always the furniture or architecture
I'm a big fan of Bauhaus, but it paved the way for some dull, ugly design since then.
I absolutely love the peacock room! Wow!
Art Nouveau is great.

Very disappointed Devon. Let Liam dox himself on with his own words. I thought you were a man of the people

Point of a preview?
i really really like Nocturne in Black and Gold - The Falling Rocket, the painting by james mcneill whistler, the guy in the video
everyone hated it and it ruined his career
Which is just wild because it’s such a beautiful piece… different times
I just checked it out. Gorgeous.
2:45 is that a "history of Japan" reference?!?
This is gonna be a rough one for me isn't it. Hard truths, let's have at it then.
So this will be the video that finally makes me subscribe to your patreon, huh?
I don't see the episode in the bonus playlist, will it be added or nah?
It's there, and it's damn near three hours long.
@@AGenericMoron glorious. Must have been something with my cache
American Craftsman style is a notch better but Art Nouveau is aight
"This is a reproduction done at the expense of the German Government, we're sorry." I'm not sure what I want to see more; the rom, or that sign.
THIS SHIT IS MAKING ME PAY TO THE PATREON! SINGLEHANDEDLY FUCKING OVER MY TIGHTWAD ATTITUDE TO MONEY!
The room that maddens you instantly
Liam's spit take at 10:06 absolutely cracked me up
Uzumaki, but peacocks instead of spirals.
A new WTYP?
Sorry boss I'm off line for engineering "study" this morning. I'll shoot you any relevant slides. :) Thanks Ya'll.

Love you ❤❤❤
I wait to 2 hour video ❤❤❤
This room was the inspiration for The Yellow Wallpaper
You sure? I can’t find anything to suggest that
Oh, you all finally covered Japonisme, my favorite thing, so good of you, that.
Fonki cheff, and this is the way.
This is it, this is the one that got me to join on Patreon!
I'm not used to clicking on a WTYP video and instantly getting hit with something philosophical. :P
Also Liam's response to "Peacock Room" :)
F o n k I c h e f f , for people that. Like music.
Campaign for Real Rooms
Our bid room is The War Room
Art Nouveau, second only to the American Craftsman style.
So rooms are lost technology like curbs, are they?
i listen to the podcast and rarely do I feel the need to see the slides. But this one is essential.
Sound of Frankfurt is golden too.
yasss feed me moar arch-itechture
3hours folks this is gonna be a long one.
There’s no new art under the sun tho
I like the room better than that godawful painting.
ah, there you are
Alas !
What the actual fuck LOL
