    That's a cool rifle/ammo, I was eight years old when those rifle came out. We lived out in the sticks, so we never saw or knew about things like that in our neck of the woods, or could afford it even if we did. Great that you can still find ammo for those old rifles at a decent price.

    Ya I thought it was a pellet rifle when I saw it at an auction. I bought it for $80. When I got home I went through the same process, trying to shoot pellets, then I did some research. Bought some ammo, what a cool rifle I have now.

    That's a really awesome little rifle. I love learning about obscure little guys like these. Good find josh!

      This one was probably close to getting junked or put aside never to be known what it was.

    I have one of those. I didn’t know the ammunition could be found. I am going to immediately go on Gunbroker and buy some ammunition for this old gem. I really thought it was never going to get shot again. Thank you for posting this video and letting me experience a little bit of my childhood memories again.

    Spring piston airguns should not be fired without a pellet (or in this case the caseless ammo) loaded. When you pull the trigger, the spring slams the piston forward, and without any back pressure, the piston slams against the end of the cylinder. Do that a few times and you can destroy the piston and maybe the cylinder. 😐

      this gun was designed this way to fire the caseless ammo he is using. this gun was made by Daisy and came out in 1968. it used air to ignite the powder.

    That’s a new one for me. Very interesting. Wonder how challenging it would be to create that charge “bag” and make your own rounds?

    • @243Outdoors
      @243Outdoors  11 місяців тому +1

      I was thinking about that. Probably breaking up a muzzleloading Pyrodex pellet might work. Just have to be careful not to get a overcharge. Most 22lr have 1g of powder in them. Not much. I'm sure there's a way to do it.

    Very interesting Josh. I vaguely remember these when I was a kid. Actually the price you gave for ammo was much cheaper than I thought it might have been. When is the new arrival due?

    Try it with a regular pellet that has a tiny amount of petroleum jelly or gun oil in the base. Should get a similar result.

    Making paper cartridges is easy as pie. It’s been done since the civil war. I make them for my Ruger Old Army .44 black powder pistol. You should give it a try. It’s actually fun too.

    I got one when I was about 10 years old (1968). Parents divorced and dad took gun and never saw it again. Probably sold it for beer and cigarettes.

    I wonder if this is considered a "firearm" by the government? Like how pellet guns, and musket loaders are not considered firearms.
