Great footage Craig. Brings back some great memories of my Honolulu Fire Department recruit training. Not as radical as what you did but still a blast. We tied off to the metal railing at the Pali Lookout and rappelled 250 feet straight down the sheer face and then hiked back up a different route. One of many adrenaline adventures that were used to prepare us. Stay alive.
There's no way I could have made this hike. It would have been a suicidal act for me. Amazing human courage. Salute to the hikers. I envy your courage, stamina & passion for hiking!
ребята, вы просто СУПЕР! я забрался только на пик, откуда вы брали старт. забирался один и только с третьего раза мне это удалось. смотрю и дух захватывает!
How many 'stitches' did you all need after walking on dem razor's edge ridges? The 'maukas' really humbles you when it treats you to the magnificent views it beholds... Thanks for posting!!! IMUA!!!
Who named the features? Great job! I thought the video presentation was eerily similar to True Manamana and then I saw your selfie ... LOL. These videos inspire me. I wish I were younger, in better shape with great knees again.
You guys are fearless!!! From where I live, I can see Pu'u Lani Huli. On a rainy day, there are a multitude of waterfalls. I didn't realize that it was so narrow, on the ridge. Just watching the video, makes me nervous...
whoa! I don't have the strength or age to do this climb now, nor did I ever have the kind of courage you have. But I am so grateful that you have. This is the ONLY way I will ever get up there. Mahalo nui, and I mean this: loa, to you. thanks!
1st of all great job on the video, 2nd and more importantly great accomplishment on this hike! I was just here and randomly found myself on this ridge after passing the puka and taking the narrow dirt trail to the left, then the self described 'f@#! me climb' to the ridge. That was exhilarating enough for me, and that is just the beginning! You guys are obviously very experienced and prepared. Never take it lightly, and never forget to appreciate it! Aloha
OMG!!!!How did you make yourselves do that climb???!!! Just watching it gave me horrible shivers in my feet, legs and hands--you know, the kind that hurts!! Truly, my jaws were just dropped the whole time I watched it...must have looked really stupid! :):):) The music was PERFECT !! Really captured the feeling that this was the climb from hell !!! WOW!!!
Wow! Cuz, You guys really got guts. I have watched almost all of your vids. Seems like they just keep getting riskier. This is a fantastic video, but it scares the heck out of me. I admire your courage and strength. By the way, I LOVE the music you use. Just stay safe. I don't want to read about any of you having bad luck. I pray for you.
Awesome video, I am getting nauseated just looking at it, went to windward side the other day, I think I saw that puka up near the look out. Thanks for posting.
I always thought those ridges were unclimbable. I lived there and believe me that rock is NOT like granite. It's rotten and crumbly and wet and the wind up there has got to be at least 30 miles an hour. I never tried that trail. I cannot believe the guy in the plaid pants was just walking along it.
I can not believe you guys made it out alive after all of those crumbly super skinny ridges. That W section was insane. I would've called a rescue helicopter at that point cuz I would never have attempted the W. Is there a number that hikers can call to get rescued in situations like that?
Good but I had to fast forward due to the music was too distracting. Seems like it's a scary enough hike so I didn't think you really needed music, good video.
to everyone who is hating down below, I've done this hike and I'm 16. it was the one of the best experiences of my life and taught me multiple life lessons. if you think its stupid you have a right to say so but just to let you know if you did it yourself you would realize that theres nothing else like it and it's worth all of the risks involved
As much as I enjoy hiking, I wouldn't hike the Pali Puka Trail; tht involves rock climbing which scares the hell out of me. However, I like the music..
@drlutskovsky: why do people surf 50+ft waves? "and the biggest questions (after the big "WHY" ) - how are you going to do down??? tumble?? jump??? crazy people." You make it sound like these particular people are STILL up there at the moment. Obviously they got back down since this video is on UA-cam. They did not go back down the same way (although people have done the route in reverse as well). They went down a different route (safer route) that also leads to the same summit.
@spdhungry That's not haters that's expressing my view on real consequences that happen often for those taking ridiculous chances like what is shown in the video. It's ignorant to me and if you are going to show it on UA-cam I'm expressing my view. It probably wont make a difference but if they read this they have a view of what others think.
You have nice vids, so don't get me wrong. It's just that your choice of background music is taking away the real feel of your vids. i do alot of extreme hikes too and i think it's better if you tone down your background music and people would rather hear the wind, the labored breathing, the environment that your in, to complete the intensity of this vid and this hike. i still give you a thumbs up though.
CAUTION! THIS TRAIL IS UNIMPROVED. There are many trails in Hawaii; many of these trails are on private, military or unimproved land. Many trails are not maintained for public use and have dangerous conditions that will present a risk to hikers. In other words, nothing has been done for your safety. Therefore, it is highly recommended that people who want to enjoy our beautiful forest and back-country areas only use open, improved, maintained and legal trails. Mahalo,
Why would anyone want to do this? Any bad move, any slip, any crumbled piece of rock you hold onto, you fall to your imminent death. Man people are crazy
Grew up on Oahu. Done it a couple times in my life when younger when you didn't realize how close to death you were or cared. And sorry, but what's up with the medieval battle music. Silly choice.
Beautiful nice views and it's also a stupid fucking hike. I get pissed off at people doing stupid hikes and having to get rescue and air one out there to have to rescue people who do stupid hikes like this.... then fire has to risk their lives.....for what? so you can get a cool vid on youtube?.... This pisses me off more than giving me enjoyment over any views....
Brah, NOT cool. You live Hawaii all your life and still no can tell the difference between a local and a haole? More than half my frickin family is mixed; kepanese, haole, pake, portugee, book book, etc. Where in the hell you going find full blooded native Hawaiians let alone anybody that actually LOOK local? Define local because I no can. Some of the hiker accidents are LOCALS; inexperienced, unskilled, & not knowledgeable in the trail and its dangers. These locals were prepared and shared.

Like the big views, I drive on the windward side and see this ridge every day.

I've watched pretty much all your vids, and this one is by far the scariest!
whoa! I don't have the strength or age to do this climb now, nor did I ever have the kind of courage you have. But I am so grateful that you have. This is the ONLY way I will ever get up there. Mahalo nui, and I mean this: loa, to you. thanks!

I always thought those ridges were unclimbable. I lived there and believe me that rock is NOT like granite. It's rotten and crumbly and wet and the wind up there has got to be at least 30 miles an hour. I never tried that trail. I cannot believe the guy in the plaid pants was just walking along it.

This looks more gnarly than the notches to K1

BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING!! KUPAIANAHA!!!!!!!!!!
i would be SO in love with flat land after that.
Good but I had to fast forward due to the music was too distracting. Seems like it's a scary enough hike so I didn't think you really needed music, good video.
Wow sooo badass 👏🏼
Incredible, I want to send this to my avid hiker friends but then I'll be scared they will actually attempt this hike themselves! Aloha
Wut is the joy of these hikes? Haha...dis is sum scary ass shit! U guys are awesome!

@spdhungry That's not haters that's expressing my view on real consequences that happen often for those taking ridiculous chances like what is shown in the video. The scariest was a guy doing a chinup on a crane, with no harness at all.
and i need a lot more experience in hiking.
Good lord!
@Cookiejar808 it was
3 people chickened out because they ain't got da mana!

Scariest video I ever saw and it is not worth it to make videos when you or, anyone else could be at risk of falling down
Crazy people if that was the only choice i had to choose i still wouldn't do it
It looks like Avatar :)
good place to be when a zombie apocalypse happens lol
