Thank you for this very informative video. I've read many books on Autism, especially Aspergers/PDD-NOS, but this video really puts the subject on a level that can be more easily understood by the average person/parent. Thank you again!
I wonder if they are talking about it under umbrella terms. Remember it’s cause is typically phonemic processing disorder so maybe it’s under processing disorders?
Good enunciation and pronunciation helps everyone. The basics of reasonable sound do not 'hurt'. It;s unreasonable noise that 'hurt's and r is repeating draining such as household electronics and hydro boxes and wires. Measure the sound of these vehicles that we are distressed by on the vehicles themselves. There are reasons why NTs go deaf from these activities. We are not wrong to be distressed by them especially when these noises are not necessary for the function of these machines. Many of these so called symptoms, are separate from Autism such as Cerebral Palsy. Stereotypes. No talk of the assets these really are in other environments. It;s the way that NTs have constructed their world that both the natural world and NDs, are distressed, not just us. SPD does not exist unless it's in NTs. We are the child brain grown up as an information seeking brain design and this is fantastic. Dyslexia is a 3D ability that should be valued and worked with not against.
This video needs to be done with people. You have to draw us a picture. The biggest reason for this is, people that listen to this video cannot or will not retain 100%, maybe 20%, that's all. You need to understand that Normal People need a "Hands On Approach" to learning about APD/CAPD.
Play it over again and take note. You can certainly save it and play it as many times as you like. I keep some videos in my library if the subject s of interest. If you watch more videos on the subject, you will become familiar with the terms and discussion.
Does anyone ever look at what we are developing when it isn't language? No. We were not delayed, we did things in a different order. No the same thing.
Children and adults have the following problem: When a child gets ready to go into another higher grade, any grade, but let's say 6TH grade. Well, lets say the teacher's voice is too HIGH, well, the child cannot come home and tell you this, but what he can tell you is maybe the teacher is very boring, etc.... Same things with adults, if they have co-workers working with them, then some of the VOICES actually HURT the Adults Head, inside the head. I just wanted to share this, I hope it was some help for you!!!
I suspect that if a student who is Autistic finds a teacher boring...they are actually boring. Heightened senses, which I had( diminished as I got into my sixties) are not a dysfunction. It's the environment. We simply are not made, for these noisy environments. Greater flexibility of Neurotypicals has to start with being respectful of difference. I would feel pain when someone got hurt for decades, but it;s subsided with knowledge of injuries. Explain in detail and what to do...such as First Aid education. That helped me. Also the knowledge that staying calm is helpful when someone is injured. That's not lack of sensitivity, it's knowing what not to do. So much in Autism is about knowledge and full explanations and detailed ex[explanations. Adaptation. Parents really need to be trained in prioritizing what's important in Autistic priorities in communication styles.
I use to analyze my teachers. It started in Kinder Garden. My teacher was a lunatic. IN a public school she had the audacity to tell us all that there was a devil deep in the ground that was going to get us. She scolded me and ridiculed me in from of the class for articulating the bodies of my cut out paper collage project that was to use geometric cut outs and assemble the bodies of a post person and a rabbit. I did do that and I added the organic connective curves. I think a lot of us can say exactly why we are bored if we want to and trust that we can. I don;t get the pain inside my head, but I certain experience the emotional pain and the distress of certain sounds.
Interesting not related to audio processing but still on the subject of brain hemisphere. I am dyslexic. Could not write and I was left handed naturally. Then when I was 55 years old, I change hands. I was able to write freehand with ease.

Good lecturer, very thorough in her explanation.
There was nothing about dyslexia. I listened for 2 hours.
At least at 1:32 I noticed discussion about dyslexia.

Seems a little disorganized.
Did you read the title? Ta da.😂😂😂
